There's nothing to compare with Scotch rolls. I've lived in. England for over 50 years and can still imagine the taste. Always ask anyone going to Glasgow to bring me some back.
Good Scottish burnt roll are to die for butter square sausage sunny side up egg and a touch of brown sauce makes living special or just good butter generously spread then straight in ones gob .
Morton rolls are by far the best.
The only ones I like are the well fired ones. Always have always will. 😊👍

It's a regional thing. I think they are called well-fired rolls.
i prefer well burnt bread personally.
Well fired are the best, it's still soft just the tops are blackened. A unique taste.
