Really cool vids sir! Was checking ‘em out cause I’ll take out my son this week - he sails an optimist but was never on a cat before - and your vids gave me good idea’s on how to start with him! Cheers!
Very good 👍 noobie training 👌 👏. Well informed at all times. Looks like he's ready for the worlds as crew 😉, well almost. Maybe some spinnaker time, huh. Good student as well 👍👏
Hi jo, ive just purchased a hurricane, ive sailed in Antigua 🇦🇬 15 yrs ago on a hobbie 16 every day for 2 weeks but nothing since, can you if possible have a go on one as i would love to see your expertise and brilliance on this cat to see how they fare against everything else. Cheers pal, you are the best appreciate muchly 😊 Mike Wales uk.
Went with a Garmin Fenix 7X. Garmin also makes a quatix which is marine specific, but the fenix does everything it can do minus the unusable marine maps and it’s cheaper. Fenix 7 Sapphire solar edition is prime for serious sailors.
@@JoyriderTV my crash video features the wave known as "freight trains", a nervous overpowered Jibe, scooting back with open hips, nucleating the Jib, and pitch pull. Im trying to round up the split screen content. for future #whatwentwrong
I like scaring the crapp out of em. Teach them some respect for sailing. Usually the ones I give rides too just got off a motorboat so they think it's a joke.
This happened with my wife when I first got into sailing. We did a demo, the guy purposely tried to scare her by keeling over excessively. Now she refuses to get on a sail boat.
@blacksheep1b. Very similar thing happened to me. My wife took sailing lessons from very inexperienced kids at a local yacht club. Long story short the class weren't prepared for wind conditions and the boat turtled. The instructors didn't know how to deal with the situation and now she refuses to go sailing with me.
Yeah, if some cocky individual comes onboard with a this isn’t going to be at all exciting attitude, then maybe I’ll find it hard to resist. If it’s someone that you want to do it again, I find that the more gentle approach is best
@@brucemaguire3238 sorry to hear this, I hope one day she will give it another try with you. It is wild how that first time out can sometimes be the last time out haha. Very important that first impression.
The satellite overlay is a nice touch and compliments your sailing joyride 👍
Thanks! 👍
Great lesson in building confidence in a crew.
Thanks. I think there’s too much chance of putting people off.
@@JoyriderTV I think the worst thing is to whack the crew with the boom.
Stay down... Stay Down....
@@nicko6710 definitely. They're unlikely to want to come again if they get a whack!

I use the locosys gw60. It’s been going well for me for several years
The jib wrap
Only a big problem with a fully battened jib

@@JoyriderTV Yeah, there are a few guys at work like that. One day, they will go on a joyride and I am quite certain, they will be hooked.
