Marble Gate item is very situational but can definitely shed time off your scavenging especially after clearing a level. Set a gate down by the teleporter, go grab any items you can now afford, then warp back and cut back the time to travel back to the teleporter. Again, very situational but fun to use in that circumstance.
It's so interesting to come back and watch this after so long. It's especially nice considering this game is getting a remake? remaster? I don't know what to call it but it's a nice nostalgia trip. Jeeze, I've been watching for so long, I think since the first few original Binding of Isaac videos. I'm glad I'm still watching and will continue to do so hopefully far into the future!
PhrozenFox He wins. REGULARLY. I've played risk of rain a few hours myself, and I've been gaming regularly for close to 23 years now after cutting my teeth on things like centipede, and he still manages to do better at Risk of Rain than myself. He minimizes his risks and maximizes his gains...........I can't fault him for winning, regularly.
I need to agree with PhrozenFox, he is good at this game. But he does understimate his chances and stuff. Video would be like 15~ longer if he would know how to play with 100% quality
Ah, and I forgot to mention, since you commented on both of these: The Eye gives you a speed upgrade and a fire trail that damages enemies every time you kill an enemy. It doesn't stack as far as I'm aware, but enemy kills do refresh the duration. Crowbars don't stack damage wise, so getting more than one won't make you damage even more when enemies are at high health. However, every additional crowbar increases the range in which you get the bonus damage. I don't think it'll actually cap out, so you have potential to get additional damage no matter what.
I got 3 tips for you - When you jump, you are less prone to getting hit. - Try to traverse the level clockwise or counterclockwise so that you gain a general sense of the chests/shrines/stores locations so that when you gain enough money you will be able to recall and spend your money. - Make sure that when you beat the fifth level, you press the "switch item" button so that you go to the final level. If you press the "use" button, you go back to the first level.
Thing about the Shrines are, yes it's a random chance to get an item, however the pay off is, that item could be a tier higher than what the current level "drops". Meaning there's a chance to get nothing, but there's also a chance to get a better drop! Granted, I'm 100% with you on preferring to get the chests first, then spending any left over cash on the Shrines.
in the underwater cavern's level, if you walk all the way to the left climb as high as you can, then move all the way to the right, you will find a caged creature. Free him, then kill him and you unlock him as a playable character. He's my favorite so far
On Magma Worm, try and line up your FMJ (Shotgun Piercing Shot w/e, 2nd ability) on a straight section of his body, Similar to the worms from Isaac, each part of his body counts as it's own section, so piercing or splash damage attacks will hit multiple parts of his body and in theory double, triple, quadruple (etc) your damage from that shot! :D Can usually bait him into stretching out if you roll/run away from where he jumped to angle him. Just a handy tip if you are having trouble with him :)
I really like how varied the items are in this game, there aren't many 'increase a stat' items, all of them affect how you play the game and the strategies you have available, so every run feels fresh. My only tip to Bisnap (as someone who has put 100+ hours into it) is to treat the early levels like a speedrun; basically find the teleporter first, activate it, and then buy from chests nearby it. Try to limit each floor to 4-5 minutes and you're usually solid.
You can use the gate for saving time. If you find the teleporter and you want to explore the rest of the big levels, you can just put a gate down and then after you are at the other edge of the map you can just reuse and get teleported back.
In the fourth level if you get the lava world, go all the way to the right and as low as possible, sometimes theres a tunnel down there and if you free him, you unlock another character
Just a couple of tips if you want them. (Sorry for writing so much, just love this game). 1. Get every single item on a level before starting the teleporter. Items are the most important things in this game and you can pretty much ignore the timer if you play well enough, especially in the first couple levels. Later, once you have enough items that give extra gold per kill or time you can start the teleporter and just run around and get chests getting enough money from everything that spawns to open every single one. 2. Characters with evades are god-tier, make sure you use that roll well. You should never attack something if you are right on top of it, roll away and shoot it from afar. This should help you avoid taking too much damage. Because of this, characters like the commando or the huntress, when you get her, are some of, if not the, best characters in the roster. 3. The final level (the ship) is extremely difficult if you go there right after the temple. I usually do another loop of levels, or maybe two, just to insure that I can beat it no problem. That being said great games where everything is optimized can take anywhere between and 2-3 hours to complete so i'm not sure how well this game is optimized for youtube. Hope this comes of as helpful and not just someone trying to tell you how to enjoy the game. :)
Just in case you didn't know, item rarity is a thing. There is a colored outline around all items that show their rarity. It goes - white, green, red, and then yellow. Any rarer item will obviously be much better then a lower tier item.
Hey Bisnap, a few things I've learned as I've been recording: 1. Try to move faster on your first level or two. You spent a lot of time on the first and second level fighting random enemies, and the difficulty scales better than you do around that time. The game's a little like Spelunky that way. The first level or two are sometimes more difficult than later ones because you have no items. You have more leeway to run the clock around level 3 because you have things like the Purse, Life Savings, Guardian's Heart, etc., that make harder enemies manageable. So find that teleporter ASAP, THEN spend time fighting. 2. Don't just run away when you hit the teleporter. Not only does this let even more enemies spawn on you, which makes life harder for you, it's also running the clock. The longer you spend not getting money and items, the more difficult you're making the game for yourself. The game never stops getting more difficult. Any time you spend not getting stronger is time you're donating to the horde. 3. The above being said, if you're comfortable at your present level of power, feel free to farm! If you can, clear the level of all shrines and chests. This keeps you at or ahead of the curve. 4. Keep jumping in combat. Most enemies attack at ground level. Jumping lets you dodge that while you move. You can also jump while shooting, so use that to move while still shooting in the direction you're moving. Just hold down your Double Tap button, hit the Jump button, and move the joystick. Do it repeatedly to bunny hope while shooting. 5. Drones seriously carry games. Get as many as you can. You weren't joking. 6. Don't underestimate Barbed Wire. Every iteration of it increases size and damage, and it hits enemies as you kite. Which is important because... 7. Mobility is king, as my friend Trance keeps saying. You want to constantly be moving. Dive roll, turn, FMJ, Suppressing Fire, run, dive roll, repeat. Most characters want to do this. The Commando is especially agile because of that dive roll and can kite rather will. I look forwards to seeing your series!
At 20:00 there are bushes you can press up and teleport you to boar beach a spot which you can farm all the items you need to win a run, by farming bosses over and over for drops. Hope it helps and keep up the great work.
As somebody who's beaten the game many times and has had 5 hour plus runs, I'd have to say that I really enjoyed watching you play this. I don't know if you've ever beaten the temple of the elders, but a tip, at the end press the other button when completing the teleporter. (It will show two buttons instead of the usual one) doing so will take you to the last level.
Archer Bugs can't hit you if they're orbiting close to you. They're there to punish movement. You can kill them without taking a hit if you sit still. It takes time, but you were at temple at I SEE YOU difficulty already. HAHAHAHA isn't that much harder, as well. Also looking forward to you making a Breaking episode of this with 10+ Soldier Syringes and 10+ Leech Seed. Kudos for starting the series.
It seems to scale better if you wait to activate the teleporter until you feel you have an amount of money that will allow you to purchase most of the items. Just a tip for you, Bisnap, and any fellow viewers
I always hate those imp statues (4:50) unless they are in a near enclosed location. Marble Gate teleports you to the first location you set as the "gate". Its great for setting near the end teleport for a level and wander around after or before ending the level. Otherwise having Foriegn Fruit or Jar of Souls, even Cobolt Meteorite is better for starting play. (Oh and try to get Will-o-Wisp whenever possible, the explosion from a dead mob helps in the long run for killing large swarms of mobs with AoE's)
Also, use items can come down to preference a lot of the time. It depends on how you're geared, how you feel like playing, and what class you are. Missles can be really useful for saving time and not having to back track. Stopwatch can be great if you are have a high-dps build but low hp, and thus end up having to flee at times. It all depends. A couple are absolute garbage though, like the money bomb. Hope this helps you/anyone out there. If people want any more specific tips, I'd be happy to offer them. I'm not an expert, but I have spent a lot of time with the game
Bisnap, in that third ice level you where in, if the bridge isin't broken you can go to the top leftft of the map when you finish it, inside the bushes just walk around it and it will take you to a soecial level where you can farm for items on toxic beasts ;)
26:44 Hey bisnap! that broken building is actually a secret! after u kill all enemies stand there and activate it like a portal to be sent to a bonus area.
Speaking from my own experience, i really don't like triggering a teleporter untill i've already gotten or am really close to getting all the chests and shrines in a level. Items can give you an extremely important edge against the early and mid game, and i find that i very rarely make it to the final level without the difficulty having already been maxed regardless. Besides, the elusive 52-leaf clovers are really the only way to break Risk of Rain so i'll take any chance i can get.
I don't like the headstompers a lot either, but in one run I had chosen to not go to the final level and was on either my third or fourth run through the levels, and I had like 3, maybe 4 headstompers, I dropped down from not even that much of a height and got the 5000 dmg challenge unlocked. Looking back in the stats, I did nearly 20k dmg with that one fall. ALSO try to get a lot of those jetpacks sometime, mad hops yo.
In the stage Ancient Valley Frozen Tundra it's a secret stage. If u go to the upper left area on the stage u will se som fences. If u stay there for like 3 seconds u can press upper button and u will come til Boar Beach.
I was personally disappointed in how little the random generations comes into play. I've played quite a few runs, and on most of them, the layout was almost identical, with very minor differences. I enjoy that the type of level you advance to is completely random but again, if you've seen it once you've pretty much seen it all. I really like the items however.
I would suggest you go make a discussion in their official forums. They are astonishingly nice and if it seems like something they can do or improve they will.
Capt Fritz That is certainly a plus. I definitely enjoyed the game, it just had a lot of missed potential. I'm sure that someone has already suggested the things I mentioned already, however.
Rage VG hopoo is main developer of the game. and he is still studying. the game is made by a really small team of devs. there will be more features in the future. but it will take lots of time
A tiny tip for those Spitting enemy lizard things that you hate (floor 4), right before they spit (when the shot-line shows up), you can knock them out of their attack animation, either with FMJ or Suppressing Fire. (or similar knock back attacks from other classes). This makes it so they don't attack and it resets their attack timer! Meaning you can quite easily chain FML and SF to keep them in theory, stun-locked! Should help you out on 'em alittle since you seem to dislike them so much. (Tho honestly you can just jump right before they fire and that'll dodge the shot :P)
Dude I love your videos, and as you talked about the jumping,I would ask to please stop, because I don't know way,but I'm getting crazy motion sicknesss from that. I know it's Kindda boring only to walk, but I would appreciate you stop jumping if there is no reason for it. Tanks, keep up the great work :D
Coming back to this after Risk of Rain 2 has come out in Early Access. This is nostalgic for me.
lol
Same
lol
nice
7 fucking years ago, jesus christ, I remember watching this when the video released
secret : in the ancient valley you go to the top left. there's a bush. hold up when you're there. it'll take you somewhere
(beta tester here. ;p)
That place gets called "Boar Beach" and he is standing in front of that secret place at 26:44.
Marble Gate item is very situational but can definitely shed time off your scavenging especially after clearing a level. weirdly enough youtube thought i wanted to watch this ancient video x) i'm glad you're still here bisnap though!
I like how Bisnap is good in every game.
he's very very very good at risk management. He plays safe, clean, and without really rolling the dice on crazy chances. I like it!
He painfully underestimates his odds, and ends up taking way too much time penny pinching and letting the game get more difficult.
PhrozenFox
He wins. REGULARLY. I've played risk of rain a few hours myself, and I've been gaming regularly for close to 23 years now after cutting my teeth on things like centipede, and he still manages to do better at Risk of Rain than myself. He minimizes his risks and maximizes his gains...........I can't fault him for winning, regularly.
solouroboros
I win regularly, and I'm tellin' ya he's not doin' it right. lol
I need to agree with PhrozenFox, he is good at this game. But he does understimate his chances and stuff. Video would be like 15~ longer if he would know how to play with 100% quality
This is my chance to see what this bisnap guy is all about.
I'm glad you're enjoying the game. :)
Everybody thank this wonderful lady for my possession of a copy of the game!
Thank you, wonderful lady!
Wow, I'm loving this game, and Bisnap accounts for most of my youtube time these days, so... Nice one!
Thankyou wonderful lady for getting bisnap this game!
solouroboros
Damn this used to be my favorite series I remember when it first came out. Time flies
there is a second version of it
Thank you very much for starting this lets play!
Thanks for watching!

So much yes!!! I was waiting for this.
This might be my new fav series of yours Bisnap, keep it up!

Came on my recommended in 2022, what a throwback man lmao
This is my new favourite series of yours, keep making it please ^.^
Glad you like it!
I miss this so much
same :,(
Seem like the Eye of the worm makes you lay a fire trail for a few seconds after you kill an enemy. Cool series!
BISNAP IGNORE THE MINOR ENEMIES, GO STRAIGHT TO THE TELEPORTER
in the underwater cavern's level, if you walk all the way to the left climb as high as you can, then move all the way to the right, you will find a caged creature. Free him, then kill him and you unlock him as a playable character. He's my favorite so far
This is one of those things you didn't even know you wanted until you got it.
BISNAP headstompers are OP. you find a rope, let all the enemies to span under it, and then you jump and jump and they all DIE.

This..looks..awesome! I checked it out when i heard it was coming to vita, perfect handheld game
I'm about to binge watch this, Wish me luck guys
Bisnap, at 20:00 when you said there was nothing there, you could have activated the fence and gone to a secret level.
Well I don't know that stuff yet!
Just a couple of tips if you want them. (Sorry for writing so much, just love this game).
1. Get every single item on a level before starting the teleporter. Masterful playing of this game. I know I personally struggle with it, but it's addictive in its harshness.
20:00 If you hold up on that black bush, you will go to a secret level.

I've made that mistake a few times in one run. Too used to pressing the one button, forget to read, suddenly cycling.
just bought this for £1.75 on steam summer sale and your video helped me out alot, subbbed!
Yes! Love this game
This + Your commentary = EPIC
He gets done saying the items are always specific in their descriptions, and then ignores the "PRESS A TO GET MISSILE DRONE" lol.
Archer Bugs can't hit you if they're orbiting close to you. They're there to punish movement. You can kill them without taking a hit if you sit still. It takes time, but you were at temple at I SEE YOU difficulty already. HAHAHAHA isn't that much harder, as well.

Yes, i wanted to see you play this for so long. :)
My body is ready.
damn just 100%ed ror2 and im coming back for the nostalgia train.
It seems to scale better if you wait to activate the teleporter until you feel you have an amount of money that will allow you to purchase most of the items. Just a tip for you, Bisnap, and any fellow viewers
I love this game
What are your buttons set to on controller? I have tried using one previously but couldn't get it comfortable.
my tip is to get the teleported as fast as possible (easier said than done) but in that way the later areas will be on an easier difficulty
This seems like an interesting game, definitely looking forward for this series :)
I always hate those imp statues (4:50) unless they are in a near enclosed location.
Marble Gate teleports you to the first location you set as the "gate". Its great for setting near the end teleport for a level and wander around after or before ending the level.
26:44 Hey bisnap! that broken building is actually a secret! after u kill all enemies stand there and activate it like a portal to be sent to a bonus area.
sees stopwatch
*ZA WARUDO!*
stopwatch is bae
Guess its time to rewatch Risk of Rain
Your Barbed Wire also seems to proc the poison and slow from that one item who's name eludes me at the moment.
you can keep it if u wanna bisnap! we support your choices!
Yep, also when the 56 leaf clover gives you more clovers
iv only wathed the film
Sweet mother of dingle berries! I love you for doing vids of this game!!!
:)
This is terreria meets BOI, awesome.
If u stay there for like 3 seconds u can press upper button and u will come til Boar Beach.
the ghost special is so cool.
God, yes, right now, on my eyes.
You sound so much younger in this than you do now.
on frozen tundra there is a chance to get Boar beach it looks like a rock with broken fence around it
Been waiting for this let's play
And now here it is!
Is the I SEE YOU difficulty a reference to LoTR or something?
And His Music Was Electric
loving this already!
Glad to hear!
Yeah, new, great series!
Wow this game looks really good, please do more videos.
It was aweird feeling seeing uncompleted achievments :*)
If i buy risk of rain on the official website, will i be able to add it to steam to play with friends?
Jeff Xavier If you're going to play with your friends on steam, why not just buy it on steam?
It's funny that you say your best at the bandit in this video, since I think you've said while playing RoR2 that you never got on well with them.
The music in this game slaps.
UNDER 301+ VIEWS CLUB!!!
Wanting to check this game out - thanks for the LP!
This game looks really good, might pick it up on Saturday!
Looks like an interesting game, could you describe I'm more detail what exactly the goal is? I didn't really follow what was going on that well :-).
Get to the teleporters, progress. That's about it.
I know that passive has another meaning in gaming, but tell me this *isn't* an oxymoron, 33:47 😆
Awesome lets play keep it up Bisnap
Thanks!
I really like that and i want you to do more!!!!!
Awesome! Thanks for uploading
Thanks for watching!
Whoa, whoa, whoa, Bisnap is playing RoR!?
i was really hoping he would find the secret level :P
I was personally disappointed in how little the random generations comes into play. I've played quite a few runs, and on most of them, the layout was almost identical, with very minor differences. I would suggest you go make a discussion in their official forums. They are astonishingly nice and if it seems like something they can do or improve they will.
I noticed that too, and totally agree with you. It's kinda cheap. Maybe they'll update it in the future?
Capt Fritz
That is certainly a plus. I definitely enjoyed the game, it just had a lot of missed potential. I'm sure that someone has already suggested the things I mentioned already, however.
Rage VG hopoo is main developer of the game. and he is still studying. the game is made by a really small team of devs.
there will be more features in the future. but it will take lots of time
*****
Perfectly understandable. I'll still play and enjoy the game. I just know that it can be so much more, in time.
At 20:02, if you dont start the teleporter and press up in the grass, you go to a secret area :3
I'm late to the party, missed this one somehow, but the jumping does bother me, and if there is even a bit of boost its basically negligible.
its for dodging not speed
Wow, I have never seen that many archer bugs. Is this a legit copy? Could that be a pirate breaker?
hay bisnap on the 4th stage you missed the bloated survive at the very right 28:35 press you use button it you will get an item
I love risk of rain a lot, but since I have a mac I can't play it, so I pretty much live through bisnap's vidoes. :/
(Tho honestly you can just jump right before they fire and that'll dodge the shot :P)
they are called lemurians. they are probably the most annoying enemy(aside from the spiders or ancient wisp) in the game
14:30 "oh i blew that one too early" lololol
didnt use your shadow at the end to try save yourself and wipe out those flying bugs?
Compared ep. 180 to ep. 1.. And ur voice! It changed sooo much :P!
Yo Bisnap, it seems like the healing from Leech Seed also recharges the shield you gain from Guardian's Heart. Thought you might like to know.
Do the drones block tears? :)
That'll be tough, but I'll try to lessen it for you.
Thanks man :3 but if not possible it's fine,I may get used to it anyway :D
