Demonstration of CURTA calculator assembly
CURTA was manufactured from 1949 to 1971 at Contina AG in Mauren, Liechtenstein
CURTA history is displayed in the museum MuseumMura, 9493 Mauren, Liechtenstein

Excellent assembly skills in action. The man seems so matter of fact about putting together such a complex device. Well done sir, my hat is off to you.
That man is able to assemble Curta without looking into plans, photos or manual? That's incredible. Thanks for the video.
Exzellente Arbeit!
Fascinating to watch, and a precious reference for those of us that have to take theirs apart (and back together!). Thanks for making this video available.
The old joke in the factory was they cost half as much again when purchased. That was the price of re assembly when virtually everyone took theirs apart and couldn’t get them back together
THANK YOU!!!!
I'm SO glad I've found this video, got a new Curta I that needs service, you saved my life (and the one of a curta)
I am lost for words in amazement
I cannot understand a word of what he is saying, but I can guess what he does, trial and error, very patient and i he does it very very good ! ! !
really with they remade these in a cheaper, streamlined version. I really want one of these.
+Quentin “SpecialBomb” Jankosky they did but unfortunately it's called an electronic calculator. Really though it's a good novelty but not as useful as Matlab and the rest...
eLJaybud You obviously don't get the purpose of why I want one. Go talk shit somewhere else.
+eLJaybud Sorry about earlier, I was pissed off at myself and I should not have taken it out on you. Are we alright now?
+Quentin “SpecialBomb” Jankosky no that's fine. You may want to be a bit more relaxed about the RUclips. I tend to reserve my claws fir when I'm provoked by fan boys. Serious engineer history isn't that realm.
Everybody calm down. One of you shouldn’t shit talk and the other should just save up and get a real one.
it would be awesom if you could buy a kit to make one yourself of course it would slightly have to be pre assembled or sent with the required tools and extra parts if such small parts are lost
He's using jigs labeled "CURTA." I suspect he used to work in the Curta factory or 'inherited' the jigs from the factory.
Amazing! I wonder how many Curtas this man has assembled.
Excellent presentation. Clear assembly. I wonder how long it takes to set up his desk with all the parts carefully positioned?!
Interesante 🇭🇳
the forever assembly, lol still awsome
Shaking hands create precision art
Then he found out he'd forgotten to install the main gear, and he had to start all over.
I wish someone sold replica DYI sets of the CURTA Type II. This is better than LEGO for me.
Pity the aspect ratio is wrong. I think VLC can view it in the correct (4:3) ratio.
Where can I buy?
as funny as this was to watch with the auto-generated english from german, I really wish there was an english dub.
I also wish I had the balls to try and service my model II myself.
Clearly a most remarkable engineer .Pity the auto translate feature on you tube is unreliably rubbish. i set it to English ,and the translation is apallingly bad that is when it is not displaying some obscure East Indian language OR Arabic .
Die Rechenmaschiene ist absolut genial ! Nur leider ist sie viel zu teuer.😟
And me only try to use 😅
No Loctite?
What a pitty the original 4:3 ratio video has been stretched to 16:9 !!! This is visible from the very first seconds, where the logo symbolizing the Curta is displayed as an oval instead of a circle.
Over 30 minutes to assemble... no wonder they were so expensive.
+eLJaybud They cheated. Every time the camera changed, he had slightly more of it assembled.I bet it takes 90 minutes to assemble fully from scratch. Several of the parts were pre-assembled here.
marcel911 I cheated and kept skipping, so even more assembly costs. Ouch.
Much more than 30 minutes , this video has cuts !!!!
Warum sieht das so futuristisch aus??
i think david?
Kein öl??
He applied it with a wire from the bottle.
patience of steal
Someone please help me i took mine apart and i cant put it back together!!!! i am really pissed off and i am about to pay someone 500 dollars to put it back together.
What where you thinking?
Steel, even.
M.L
Is it complete? A mean, no missing pieces?
bissl arg unsicher, der Gute.
