- The trachea, or windpipe in lay language, is a large membranous tube reinforced by rings of cartilage, extending from the larynx to the bronchi and allowing air to pass to and from the lungs.
Ideal for medical students and surgeons in training, Susan Anderson takes you on a tour of the histology of this tube, including revealing its ciliated pseudo stratified mucous membrane and the C-shaped hyaline cartilages which keep the trachea open.
