Ellen burstyn has a great smile, evidenced by the shot of her before the opening title.the closed captioning logo at the right hand corner of the screen, evoke such memories for me as kid growing up watching tv.
The premiere ranked 35th out of 59 shows airing that week with a 13.3 rating and a 24 share, winning its Saturday night timeslot. The following week however it plummeted to an 8.9 rating and a 16 share, third in its timeslot, and ranking 61st out of 65 shows.
This lady is lovely. She is still going strong and is highly in demand. I hope she soon reurns to Broadway as things hopeful gets back to normal . I hope & pray that Covid is finally arrested.
@@richelleflores2664 This show followed Lucille Ball's notoriously low-rated sitcom Life with Lucy. Because of that show, it pulled down the ratings of the rest of that night's lineup. It's a shame because The Ellen Burstyn Show was wonderfully-written. I think it would've served as a great companion piece to The Golden Girls.
@@FomorViceroy I agree, I binged all the 6 episodes on here, likely the ABC original airings from Fall 1986 and hoping someone captured the Summer 1987 airings given it was the lowest rated show of that summer, doubtful that anyone who cared watched. The show captured the family of the time. Daughers moving back home with with children after divorce, I grew up like that. Mother and Grown Daughter working through life with grown daughters child. And Ellen's mother living there was another great edition. This show had a TGIF early days vibe and could have worked alongside Growing Pains and Just the 10 of Us even though that didn't come to air until 1988. It also could have did well alongside Valerie on NBC.
Thanks for the stroll down amnesia lane. 80's TV was a big part of my Gen X childhood.

Thank you for sharing this time capsule starring these three generations of great actresses!
Ellen Burstyn, Megan Mullally *and* Elaine Stritch??? Yowza -- thanks for posting!
Elaine is not Elaine. Stritch, yeah right.
Megan Mullally?!? This is just genius!! She’s absolutely wonderful!!:)
I watched this back to back with Life with Lucy, and this was like Masterpiece Theatre.
"Life With Lucy" was shocking. It revealed what I had long suspected: Desi was the one with a sense of humor.
A terrific cast working the pants of an okay script. Never saw this, then.
Thank you for sharing your memories with all of us!
Those commercials are cracking me up too!! lol 😂

The commercials are a hoot.
This is truly a wonderful rarity, thanks so much for posting!!
Love this beautiful gorgeous woman
Good show and better than the crap on tv now.
Thank you! I just love Elaine. :)
Elaine Stritch is not her real name.
this show is good can you post more episodes?
Applegate and Beans Baxter in HEART OF THE CITY... toward the end.
The first episode was filmed; the rest were produced on videotape.
OMG I have this on beta , commercials and all!
ah, If you ever convert it I'd love to see more episodes from this show!!! Been looking for it for years, it's so rare omg.

Ellen's sitcom feels more like a MTM Enterprises show airing on the more intelligent CBS lineup. At least MacGyver was a hit show.
damn i wish i was alive in the 80's :/
Megan Mullally had a lady mullet?! O.O wow
Is it just me, or is the woman singing the theme song also singing the Dial soap commercial that follows? Sounds like the same voice.
Rita Coolidge sang the theme song (it's in the closing credits).
Megan Mullally must have been around 28 here, but looked about 23. Same facial expressions as Karen Walker...🍸🍸🍸
Their house is fucking huge
I love this! Have you got anymore episodes from the show? I'd love to see more!
This show was good too mature for ABC would have made it on CBS!!
HR 95 her show was on the same night as golden girls her show was on the same time as 227

This show switched to videotape at ABC in NYC. Was it at Elaine's request? Ellen's?
Elaine Stritch is not her real name.
are there any more episodes to this?
Where’s the rest
11:39 what a pretty voice
Maybe he's not your son , Maybe she's not your daughter, maybe she's not your mother 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where’d you get this from
Was the first episode filmed then the remaining episodes were shot on videotape?
Poor Ellen Burstyn deserved a WAY better script than this.
Wow. Why does it seem the 80s was soooo campy and full of satire when it didn't mean to be? The odd decade
Somehow they're all annoying. Witless somehow. Everyone has too much hair too. Cancelville. Bye bye.
This show is a horrible Golden Girls parody. It is just. Horrible.
Welcome back to the 80s. SUCK was the word du jour.
