First of all I feel both Triumph & Harley x440 are quite different from each other. Triumph has classic looks with modern heart means high compression ratio, over square short stroke engine where as Harley has classic looks with a proper classic LS engine with that typical LS heartbit thump. So if a buyer is clear about his needs then there is no confusion at all. Second thing is Reach. I'm from Odisha & thare is only one Triumph outlet in my state( in 30 districts). Where as there is at least one ( somewhere 2-3) Hero outlet in each district. Same case with RE. You can find many outlets of RE. So here it's easy to maintain a Harley/RE rather than a Triumph. Let's see how these four big brands manage things in future.
But HDx440 is going to be sold in Hero showrooms , I have selected hero show room for my x440 , as i have previously booked xpulse there. I cancelled the booking of Xpulse & continued with X440

4 saal pehle when I was dissatisfied with riding RE classic b350 for long hours I sent a letter to TVS, Honda, and Bajaj to design a retro classic bike to compete with RE classic 350 and plonk any of their 250-300cc engines in it, because I was done away with riding plastic/fibre covered bikes. I also commented on their various promotional videos to use the RR 310 engine, or KTM's 390 in some other design. TVS developed Ronin 😭 Honda came up with CB350s and Bajaj with Triumph. Never thought of Hero competing in this segment. Really impressed. But I guess Triumph-Bajaj are stealing the show
Even I hate plastic build quality bikes.. it takes away the feel, also the modern equipment sets make it more toyish.. doesn't feel like a bike. I have 1990 bullet 350 which doesn't have any fibre except switches.

Hero is VFM due to a) with wide spread proven dealerships and service 2) metal body, 3) HD as aspirational brand though many are attracted towards Triumph Bajaj due to its power to weight ratio, fit and finish and attractive specs
Triumph may be better on paper but did a great blunder by deciding to sell only through Triumph showrooms. Meanwhile Harley will be sold through both Harley and Hero showrooms plus will have greater reliability.
very good bike, well made for those who like long stroke (fast and good low torque) and this iconic brand. Few points to consider : it's heavy 190kg (all metal) and drinks more petrol 3.7 or 3.8L/100 km. And usually parts & servicing is expensive. It will be a time before and after Harley entered India in the low segments.
I would urge hero/harley to put tubeless tire on the base denim variant, i really love that color & overall look but in 2023 to not have tubeless tire is really a big setback for me

I booked Triumph speed , but for some reason I just think that this motorcycle will be much better to ride and over all character , it delivers what it looks like , but Trimph I see will be much more rush than laid back and may not give the same feel as this one .See both bikes are different if you like more torque than it’s Harley if you like speed and thrill it’s triumph both cannot be targeted to the same kind of riders … I am more like sports touring which is why I booked triumph
Harley will be great for long distance touring and carrying luggage. Its 90% torque is available at just 2000 rpms. Amazing. Those who love RE's torque will adore it ❤

This is My first preference over truimph, For long stroke under squire torquey engine...that huge 38 nm @ 4000 is the butter on the bread. More usable on daily road and daily traffic, dual valve engine means Simple valve adjustment, low compression mean low engine heat. Thats all i need. I don't need much Hp, 27 is enough for 135kph top. I need high displacement and big pooling power and torque on a heavy machine.

I can see that Harley has done a gr8 job here... But power to weight ratio and the compression is far better in Triumph🥰🥰🥰 When driving in ghats and uphills the one which is going to take you up lightly hassle free is triumph with 40bhp power compared to 27 bhp power in harley 440... Although lookwise no doubt harley wins the battle but again price distribution of harley varies from 2.29 - 2.69 lakhs based on variant you choose whereas Triumph stays at 2.33 lakhs. It all depends on you how to choose wisely👍👍👍👍
Power will help you in highway. torque and high gear ratio will help you in ghats and up hill so think again. you can ride Harly 440 at 30 kmph in 4th hear same like a bullet 350.
Given a choice, it makes more sense to go for the HD x440 than the speed 400, cause of its sheer size which without a doubt is going to stand out in the motorcycle saturated Indian roads. The 4 valves instead of 2 , and other technicalities like the power and cooling system are going to make difference only at speeds above 120, which is seldom achieved on city roads and is too risky for the highways. In the end of the day a roadster or a scrambler just can’t stand against the feel and emotions that come along with a cruiser
You can't compare both these bikes. Triumph is 39bhp and this bike is just 26 or 27 bhp. The power figures itself is different. Also triumph is modern sports model bike while this one is just looks like a another type of bike(I can't compare the body with any other Indian bike).

This Harley has a look and a sound. Harley is 30 HP for 190 kg whenTriumph is 40 HP with 170kg, for rs50000 less. Harley looks a bit bulky and messy under the tank but it is a quality stylish roadster.

What about after sales service, is it confirmed that it will be available at hero showroom for purrchase and service. Because I am a BMW G310R owner and i suffered alot for its servicing and repair.too much headache for it. Let it be Triumph speed400 or harley x400. I wish they took care of the cable management better in the handlebar area. the accelerator cables look awful like that of a luna from 80s. the other thing is the odd shape of the rear mudguard. Doesnt match up with the rest of the body design. Loved the pickup, power, braking, and the exhaust note!

If you watch carefully you will notice that the bike is tubeless because instead of using tube actually, they have used LED.😊😊😊

High or low Compression doesn't mean good or bad bikes. Most Harleys had even lower compression.

4 valves do not benefit long stroke engine. Even bigger 1800cc Harley have 2 valves.

If you want to just cruise (my opinion) prefer this over triumph and especially RE but triumph scrambler 400 could also be a choice.

This Harley has a look and a sound. Harley is 30 HP for 190 kg whenTriumph is 40 HP with 170kg, for rs50000 less. Harley looks a bit bulky and messy under the tank but it is a quality stylish roadster.

What about after sales service, is it confirmed that it will be available at hero showroom for purrchase and service. Because I am a BMW G310R owner and i suffered alot for its servicing and repair.too much headache for it. Let it be Triumph speed400 or harley x400. Do we have to wait for long period to know its actual situation for small town customers.

You should adjust the camera angle fir better view of the details like speedometer etc.
I wish they took care of the cable management better in the handlebar area. the accelerator cables look awful like that of a luna from 80s. the other thing is the odd shape of the rear mudguard. Doesnt match up with the rest of the body design. Loved the pickup, power, braking, and the exhaust note!
