Nick, thank you so much for this! I really appreciate your honest review here, as well as your thoughts on some of the things I should look into improving on further runs/renditions. The clip was an intentional design choice on my end, and it does seem to be the most controversial part of the knife by far. Some people love it, some people absolutely hate it. I think there was some progress in clip design made on the Clairvoyant, but it could be worth revisiting the drawing board here for when we come out with a V2 of the Comet (hoping for a front flipper version!). I've got some other fun projects in the works, and I will absolutely keep all of this feedback in mind when working on them. Thank you as always for taking the time to share your thoughts! I hope to have many more designs sent your way in 2023. 😁 Cheers!
It's a really good looking knife man. I honestly don't care for most milled titanium clips. Most of them do not have the clearance for the larger seamed edges found on work pants/cargo shorts pockets. That said, this clip would look a bit better if it was anodized to a matching or complimentary color to the brass/micarta rather than the natural grey which seems off.
It's hilarious, even in 2022, to hear that a $90 knife is a "budget" knife. I think it's a strange combination of inflation, alongside knife enthusiasts finally accepting that this is about the price point where things start to become interesting. Great review, as always. So glad you're still here making this content.
I love the asthetic of this knife. It bridges the gap between traditional patterns and modern designs, and brings the Buck 110 to mind for me. Very nice! If only it were ambidextrous...
Brass/Copper bolsters with green micarta scales seem to be a current, and welcome, trend in the "budget" knife world. I love this aesthetic and I wholeheartedly approve its emergence. The Kizer Komet is now on my radar! Thanks for the review! 🙂
I like this design. Has some nods to more traditional design but seems modern still. Visually it's interesting and stands out amongst all the grey frame locks. I like the blade shape too.
I’m really drawn to the brass bolster and the blade shape on this. Would love to see it as a front flipper though to get that flipper tab out of the way
Flipper tabs like that almost always get in the way of the ergos on knives this small. I’m looking forward to seeing a front flipper version of this hopefully because the brass and Micarta are so good looking
I wish more companies would make non-locking versions of these knives. As someone who lives in the UK, there's so many good knives I cannot EDC because they have locking blades, and in lieu of Parliament ever rectifying the law on knives anywhere towards loosening them, it would be nice to see more companies making slipjoint versions of their products.
I like it. It does have style. Patina is cool, earned. And I'd take the clip off anyway. But I waited the whole time for a Keyser Söze pun and then had to make this comet myself. Hmmphffffff🙃
I got one a few weeks ago. Overpriced,, yeah a bit but it is a cool lil knife. Great action, great aesthetically, gets the job done. Great little secondary, zero regrets. 👍👍🔪 The clip looks better with the blue micarta.
I agree with the pocket clip and if I would buy this knife I would take it off. For a nice size pocket knife I really don't need a clip, but that's just me. I do really like the looks of this knife thought and that is well done.
It should be named the cockatoo! The pivot and flipper look like a big eyed bird. The blade shape could be the swept back comb of the birds head and the brass helps define the head. Really, striking with that inspiration. But as a blade snob I’ll pass.
It has the CRKT problem. Interesting and designed by a, well, designer (love or hate), and as a result it costs more than the generic equivalent. If it is something you like than yes…otherwise no? I have the Civivi Synergy 3 which is definitely overpriced and has plenty of flaws. I appreciate the design (for the price) and can overlook the flaws. So I very much enjoy the knife and carry it. It not a budget knife…it’s a budget style knife.
how can the clip scratch on your phone when it is outside of the pocket?🤔 lol.. also: i absolutely don't get people who throw things in the same pocket where the knife sits and then complain about danged up phones (and other stuff). yes, metal defeats cheapo plastic screens, should be obvious🤷🏻♂️
every metal clip will scratch your display in that case. i only put knives without clip in my coin pocket, it isn't deep anyway so you can easily grab it.
Biden inflation? You mean world wide inflation and corporate price gouging. 53% of our inflation is proven to be price gouging. Also the US is doing better then most. You should be thanking Biden.
@@StereoTyp0 I’d rather he be educated on the reality so he doesn’t contribute to screwing me or my family over. Good knife, Paul!
@@susanavenir thank you Susana!
Oh...wow...front flipper version! You definitely have my attention! Love the design of the Comet!
You should definitely design a knife called Chipmunko. Eeehh?! Get it?? Ooook moving on... 😂😂😂

Never thought that "In a world ..." would make an appearance in a knife review. But low and behold, Nick made my day. BTW: I like the Comet.

I have same thoughts
I agree

I have one of these and I love it

How many times can one fit the word budget into a review 🤔..still an excellent review..just messing around
I'd love to see your take on some edc fixed blades.
Beautiful knife

Nicks seems to be rooting for his home team here. Consistency is your greatest quality
I liked the material combo better on the Kizer Grazioso. Still a very attractive design.
I agree with the pocket clip and if I would buy this knife I would take it off. For a nice size pocket knife I really don't need a clip, but that's just me. I do really like the looks of this knife thought and that is well done.
what was the blade length? amazon says 2.87" which is awesome for us poor under 3" peeps
🤩🤙 Thanx Nick! 💯*💯*💯

lol now that you’ve mentioned this I will never be able to look at this blade again without seeing a bird, hahahaha
Nick where do you buy used knives from?
Flippertapper, looks like an interesting kind of bird
Could you do a review of the Reate Exo?
Umm... Kizer Grazioso?

Have to disagree on the flipper tab and grip. God forbid you ever stabbed with this, that flipper creates a nice extra stop on the index.
Party Foul: By all rights, the watch being worn during a Kiser Comet review should have been a Zelos Comet. Zelos Comet is the right answer. 😁
Not a fan of brass it's heavy. Aluminium or titanium is better
Soooo...This Comet is not a flyby. And it's in your orbit.🤔
how can the clip scratch on your phone when it is outside of the pocket?🤔 lol..

yes, metal defeats cheapo plastic screens, should be obvious🤷🏻♂️
Putting a phone into your pocket with the knife in the 5th pocket, or rubbing up against the display when carrying it.
every metal clip will scratch your display in that case.
i only put knives without clip in my coin pocket, it isn't deep anyway so you can easily grab it.
It’s just another ok Chinese knife.
I like the design, but $80 is too much. Especially if the fit and finish is sub par. I know Biden Inflation is a factor, but still.🤔

Keep the politics to yourself.

Inflation is happening all over the world. It's not unique to the U.S.
Imagine thinking Joe Biden is responsible for inflation
