Great interview . Appreciated the passion, hard work, and patience in developing and producing the best quality paddle on the market. Happy to represent sixzeropickleball company.
I bought this paddle sight unseen and also convinced a friend to get one. Can't find a negative review anywhere about the double black diamond 16 mm! That's unheard of! Great work over there, guys.
There's a real human behind a great paddle. My order is in transit and can't wait to get my hands on it, even for the beginner. I told my brother about SixZero and he ordered one too.
My Six zero double black diamond is in transit currently, can't wait to try it out. I'm a sucker for a good engineering story, my current paddle is a gearbox for the same reason. Love companies like Six Zero who are pushing innovation. I can't wait to see what this company does next !
Great interview. I like what 6.0 is doing, innovating in a market where there are way too many copy cats... My money goes to the innovators that want to make a better product and are putting their own hard effort into making a great product, and not ripping off someone else's design. Great back story!
I bought the Double Diamond 14mm. I think it is my current favorite. I let my friends try it and they also love it. I'm currently messing around with lead weight on it. But when my friend was using I heard a few really loud noises from it. It still seems to play really good to me. I hope it isn't delaminating already.
Yeah, tough to know. I have a video with Carl Schmits talking about paddle delamination detection if you want to check it out. Better to find out sooner than later
Really good interview, what a great and down to earth guy. It would have been interesting to have asked him about the delaminating saga and if they had to implement any manufacturing improvements to address it. My double diamond is arriving mid-May - yay!

As a local supporter of dale and the 6.0 brand, I'm humbled by the passion and determination of this guy. We've had many a battle on court here in the Sunshine Coast but those battles also come with a lot of banter and laughs. About to buy my 3rd 6.0 weapon of choice, one of the limited edition run and can't wait for it to arrive! Cheers to an incredibly successful future 6.0! Hurrah!!!
Wow awesome to see this , I have spent thousands on paddles finally used a DBD and that is the only paddles I currently have , this paddle company is amazing and has made me a better player Thank you @sixzeropickleball
I placed an order roughly, two weeks ago and expect a mid May delivery. The company sent out an email immediately after the order with an estimated delivery time. I emailed over the weekend for a current end of April update and got an email within 24 hrs (still the weekend). I don't mind waiting but I do appreciate the good communication from the 6.0. I have read poor review of Legacy because of slow or non existent communication.
I've had my DBD paddle since December and, whenever I've had a comment or question, Dale has taken the time to answer my email. A few weeks ago, he mentioned the new generation that was coming and I told him to put my name on one - even tho I have no idea what he is making, I'm betting he took what he learned with the first version and has designed an even better paddle.
Great interview, loved hearing from the man himself. So FIRED UP to try the paddle mid-may. Legit have been playing with an Onix Recruit v3 since I started playing middle of last year. This is like driving a 1980 Camry then hopping in a lambo. 😂 Might even look into ambassador program for Idaho. Looking forward to more of your work with 6.0(which should be called 7.0 in the near future 😉)
Such a great interview Brian as always. I'm kicking myself for not wanting to wait on backorder times, and getting a Vatic Pro "flash" 16mm and not a SixZero. Who I buy from is a main factor in my purchase choice, and sixzero is who I'd support in the future. Willing to wait next time.
Great interview! I'm looking forward to trying this paddle (mid May). Part of me likes the fact that theyre pouring proceeds back into future development and are already talking about 2.0, the other half is like well hopefully not too soon 😌. I know thats how it is with new technology. Regardless im excited, Thanks again.
I love my sixzero paddles, my issue I have is with the manufacturer's (China) doing a poor job, ordering a paddle and waiting months to finally get it just to delaminate in less than a month is not acceptable. And I'm not directing this to sixzero, every thermoformed paddle I tried has had this problem, very frustrating.
@Amy Lau Obviously you can't read, I put no blame on Sixzero as a company, it's the manufacturing plant in China cutting corners and not being consistent.
@@buildingpickleball I haven't heard much about that but I got both the SixZero DBD and Vatic Flash 16mm recently and when you put them up against each other, it's the exact same shape and size.
Players Pickleball manufacture they’re paddles in the USA & their Rogue 2 paddles are not only excellent to play with, but incredibly innovative in their design & the technology implemented in their production.
I own a Vatic pro flash and just bought a DBD at double the cost, that was defective and shouldn't have passed "Taiwanese QA". You have to be pretty effin naive to start a business, manufacture in China and not think China will sell your design. He's an engineer as am I, I don't buy it. Like many a washing machine or LCD display, one company makes, several others personalize with stickers and silk screening. Six Zero bought into this and all that's different is the face design. That makes sense. There's at least four I can think of that are practically identical. Prove me wrong
I agree with a prior comment. Please move manufacturing to the U.S. or Australia. I dont like supporting China. I will pay 20% more if made in U.S. or Australia
Am I the only person that noticed the hypocrisy in this guy ? Talks down about other companies taking paddle designs but also admits that his product(s) have design from other previous gen paddles of various manufacturers. Says that 90% of paddles companies have production in China ( not a bad thing , but he brings it up first negatively in an attack ). Then later in the interview admits his own production is in China and sheepishly gives answers as to why he hasn’t moved production to AUS. What a tool, great you have an engineering background, Congrats as do many others. This guy is not a representation of an engineer but of a marketer. As for engineering in design it’s my understanding that many paddle companies have in house engineers or outsourced third party talent.
He references the 1st generation technology/previous paddle designs as a segue into what he wanted to change and develop in his own paddle. It goes without saying that majority of any technology uses prior generation models as a foundation, at no point is he claiming to start completely from scratch and/or without acknowledging what previous paddle brands have accomplished. Yes, he said 90% of the paddle companies produce in China, including his own? Not sure what the problem is there. He's calling out the fact that it's an issue when it comes to IP and ownership and is acknowledging the desire to move away from it. It's your "understanding"? And to what background and experience do we owe this understanding? You're throwing shade at someone who is literally in the very role you're referring to, someone who took his time to share his information and perspective.

How can you patent a shape?
How can you patent a circle shape? How can you patent a more complex shape than a circle ??
You can patent a design to protect the appearance of a product, so a shape might fall under that.
