Or how white people get called racist(usually while being racist) then have a meltdown claiming they're being attacked for being white. Like the comments Joe Rogan made last week. It feels like to me white people are now claiming to be the biggest oppressed people in America. The mental angusih they partake throughout these white New England communtites and the way they marginalize people is the real threat to mankind. The Commonwealth is no good for mental health. They pit good blacks against each other, they isolate people of color in their communtites. The likes of these Democrats in this state is the real threat to mankind not Trumpism.

I came of age in the 70-80's and experienced racism (subtle & overt) via White folks and classism via bougie Negros. The men in my family especially my dear old dad, role modeled strength, accomplishment and cultural pride. They were fearless an thus so became I, "iron sharpens iron." Boston has one of this nations most profound and notable historical firsts for Black folk by way of esteemed accomplishments. Those accomplishments are from every walk of life and are too numerous to mention (do your research).

    This is all very misguided for lack of a better word. Racism is everywhere. I lived in NY for 26 yrs and experienced plenty of it. As a latino I experienced it from whites and blacks. I worked in a black community where the lighter blacks would treat darker black coworkers like crap and let me not even mention how they treated Africans. Kyrie talks about Boston but go check how many black people do you see in the crowds at MSG, Yankee stadium etc? Brooklyn and Manhattan are THE perfect example of gentrification. Go check harlem out. Yet Kyrie plays there, the dude is a hypocrite. The point is, dont throw dirt on a city and organization. The Celtics organization is class act and racism is found EVERYWHERE. It is all a matter of feeling superior one way or another. It is unfortunate, sad, can cause terrible traumas and change is needed. Just do not pin point a city that based on statistics, it is not even one of the top most racist states in the nation. Actually, NY ranks worst in their inequality. Even California is super racist. I understand that people can have different experiences. I speak of my own AND the facts.

      @joan.oviedo7ace3 3 года назад

      @Mr Shooter angry much? dont recall saying that "it makes it right" It is clearly stated on my response. The problem here is that when people have a national forum and they use it to trash a city or people it is not proper either. If Kyrie or whoever wants to talk about racism, do as Jaylen Brown said. Be more objective and go to the real problems that may help ease racial divides.

      @Mr Shooter in addition, using your own term. It sounds dumb when you dont read carefully and then make a dumb statement. I clearly mentioned the effects on the victims of racism. I endured it so I know. I also mentioned that CHANGE is needed. So....yeah.

      @Mr Shooter I wonder what is going on with READING COMPREHENSION. I CLEARLY stated that HE (Kyrie) is being irresponsible for calling city racist or that there is a lot of racism in Boston. I based my objection on FACTS and my experience. I never said that my experience is more valid that his. Also, be a little more mature and dont bring politics into this. In addition, you dont know how old I am so your point has ZERO weight. Furthermore, racism is EVERYWHERE and in EVERY COUNTRY. States like NY, CAL, FL, NJ, VA, IL, etc all have a lot of racism so pointing out a city with the intent of damaging its image because he is a passive aggressive dude is childish. Just as an example. Kendrik Perkins won a championship in Boston, was there for at least 7 yrs (dont remember) he said he never experienced racism in Boston. I'm not saying and never said that there is none. But it is a city that doesnt need to be nationally targeted as a racist city because NOT EVERY minority experiences it. At least not directly.

    • @joan.oviedo7ace3
      @joan.oviedo7ace3 3 года назад

      @Mr Shooter also, if u understand what a stereotype is, that is EXACTLY my problem with his comments. He is stereotyping. He couldve said "I experienced racism in several places but I know those are isolated incidents. I have received a lot of love as well" which is a fact. Boston embraced him. There are idiots and ignorants everywhere so he shouldnt come out and call Boston racist. People hear that and will say "damn, Boston is a racist city" which IS A STEREOTYPE

    • @joan.oviedo7ace3
      @joan.oviedo7ace3 3 года назад

      @Mr Shooter I agree with you and I am sorry for you experienced as a person of color. I just think that Mr. Irving made those comments as other incendiary comments as a way to make people look at Boston through that lens. It may sound obvious that there is racism everywhere but, I emphasize the point because he is now playing in Brooklyn NY which is the mother of gentrification. Black communities and the poor have been removed to pave the way for the high class and upper middle class people which I'm sure I do not need to tell you what color most of them are. What has happened to Harlem, to the upper west and east side of Manhattan. He didnt want it to be about basketball. It was in NY where Young got spit. There are many stories of nba players experiencing racism all over the place. Indiana, Houston, NY, Ohio, etc. I understand that these things should be brought to light. ABSOLUTELY.!! I just dont trust Kyrie's intentions. Why wait until gm 3 to say that? It was not his first trip to Boston. Actually, he couldve said it long ago when we left. As Jaylen Brown said , yes there is racism in Boston, but this is beyond basketball. Jaylen Brown and Tatum are taking the issue where it matters and use the correct forums. It is NOT in a pregame interview. There are many ways to tackle the issue without damning many who arent racist. Again, I'm not dismissing his experience nor those of other players. I salute you.

      I didn't know that. It's amazing that the more I learn about Philadelphia and New York, the more it reminds me of what Boston went through. But I believe that because sports has a large spotlight on it, Boston gets more of the flack for being racist then other Northeast cities.

  • @PedroMartinez-tt7lr
    @PedroMartinez-tt7lr 3 года назад +2

    I won't defend racism but Boston has some things going for it.
    - Abolitionism had its first stronghold in Boston
    -Phyllis Wheatley wrote most of her poetry in Boston
    -Frederick Douglass came to Boston after gaining his freedom and began his career here
    -The 54th Regiment was from Boston
    -Boston had the first thriving Black medical community in the US and the first black woman MD in the US earned her degree in Boston
    - MLK and Malcolm X studied here
    - The Celtics were the first NBA team to draft and start a Black player; they were the first NBA team to start 5 Black players; and Boston was the first team to have a Black coach
    -the Boston Bruins had the first Black player in the NHL
    - Boston has a Black woman as Mayor, an Asian woman as President of the City Council, a Black man as Police Chief, and a Latina woman as Superintendent of Schools.
    So before you cast Boston as the most racist place in the US, look around you at your own city.

      @Mr Shooter I should be charging you tuition, son. Your reading comprehension is woefully lacking.
      Show me where I said that Boston does not have racism? You can't.
      And the man's name was Crispus Attucks. Show some respect to the man. And he technically died before the revolution officially started. He was also 1/2 Wampanoag.

      In fact, I will even use your words so that you might be able to grasp the concept:
      Boston still has a large problem with privilege, entitlement, prejudice, inequality, and racism BUT everything else I wrote can also be true. Do you see how that works?
