    You should reach out to Yellowstone and make a safety video for visitors who approach wildlife there

    "Fahrenheit be Damned" - get outside in the winter while the sun is out and walk for 10-15 minutes. Longer if possible. Being outside when the sun is out is very beneficial. Fairbanks has lots of outdoor enthusiasts. Poeple ride "Fat Tire" bicycles for fun at minus -30F. I have Moose and red fox in my yard almost every day. Leave them alone, especially when they have young ones. Moose can be Asshats at times. And he is correct about house construction. My place is a double wall - with 30 inch insulation in the walls. Lived in Fairbanks for 50 years now and love every minute.
    @annanelson6830 is very correct.

    I live in Fairbanks. I love it here, but I accept that we’re on the frontier. You can’t get everything you had in Seattle.

    Did you seriously only plug Prospector and say they were the best affordable option? No plug for Big Rays? Big Rays also offers military discounts and has the best gear for kids.

      Hey @Ellarel4! Thanks for pointing that out. I should've mentioned Big Rays too-they have awesome gear and great military discounts. I'll make sure to include them in future recommendations!

    Shilling HARD for The Prospector.. yeah they have good gear but they also have the HIGHEST prices for that gear.....if you wanna pay north of $1k for a parka, they have what you need. Fairbanks would be nothing but a wide spot in the road if not for the military presence and the tourism. There is virtually no industry to support the population aside from those two. The oil boom was over 30 years ago. Yes there are small opportunities in Local government and the University but not much. The PFD has been shrinking every year and is on track to be confiscated by the legislature entirely because they will not reign in spending. Sooo what should you NOT do in Fairbanks???.Move here....find somewhere else..you'll be happier and we who live here will also be happier...just sayin'

      Hi @framusburns-hagstromiii808 I appreciate your perspective! It’s true that gear prices can be steep at The Prospector, and the military and tourism sectors play a huge role in Fairbanks’ economy. It’s important for anyone considering a move to be aware of these factors. Finding the right fit for lifestyle and job opportunities is crucial. For those who thrive in unique environments, Fairbanks can be a great choice, but it’s not for everyone. Thanks for sharing your insights! What do you think are some alternatives for people looking to relocate?
