@@HiveMindAutomation Don't mind him/her. In a review, I like to see everything, from the box to the product to the performance. I loved your review. Subbed.
Thanks again for your time and effort. How solid is the stereo pairing as my google speakers regularly break the pairing. Also does the Google Assistant perform as expected.
Stereo pairing is - as far as I can tell on my gen 1's - bulletproof. As far as I know, There's no Google Assistant built into the speakers, the TTS is done using a Google API and sending the audio to the speaker.
@@HiveMindAutomation just in the spirit of understanding. Does this throw any light onto the conversation. To enable voice control on your Sonos speaker of choice, open the Sonos app on your phone, tap the settings cog (bottom right), then pick Services & Voice and Add a Voice Assistant. You can then pick from Sonos Voice Control, the Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa, though you can only use one service at any particular time.
Thanks for making this video. I went to IKEA one of their new motion sensors (works great with Home Assistant) and spotted this. I hadn't noticed them before. Considering getting one!
It's a bigger chamber and has a bit more "oomph" but the Homepod mini is very surprising with its sound output. I'd say they're about on par with each other. That said, the Sonos multi-room audio, and integration with multiple music platforms makes it - in my opinion - a better all around ecosystem, despite the fact that I'm very much an Apple person. For use of other Services like Spotify, the Ikea is probably the better way to go. I'm considering getting another Homepod mini and I might test out multi-room audio with that, but Airplay has in the past had some "drift" issues for me. The other thing that the Ikea x Sonos offers that the Homepod doesn't is Ethernet Support to help cut out latency.
I'm not sure what you're asking here. The speaker has no input jack to plug it directly into a laptop. Depending on your laptop though, you might be able to use a Sonos app or Apple AirPlay to play audio from the laptop to the speaker. As for Alexa connectivity, there's no Alexa built into the speaker. However, the Sonos ecosystem can work in tandem with the Alexa Ecosystem so you can ask Alexa to play music, and you can set the default speaker in the Alexa app for that particular alexa device to be the Sonos speaker.
Wow. So glad you recapped what the outside of the box looks like. That was interesting.
Do I detect Sarcasm?

I'll play around with it...
Thanks for comparing the Gen 2 against the Gen 1 👍🏾
To be fair I feel like I could’ve done a better job of the comparison. As far as I can tell the differences are pretty minor
@@HiveMindAutomation appreciated nonetheless 👍🏾.

Glad it helped!
Ikea has a new remote. Symphonic gen 2. A five button remote. I hope you will review it and let is know if it works with HA.
I'll have to take a look
Interesting. I laughed: Whenever I go to ikea for one thing I come home with plenty of other gadgets.
Ikea, Bunnings, Officeworks, JB-Hifi...... go in for one thing..... never works.
Not sure what happened to your audio mate but it's terrible. But keep up the good work, great video as usual
Yep, Sorry about that, I forgot to power on the Mic Transmitter at the start of the vid and most of it is from the iPhone (B-Camera)
$99.99 on sale U.S. right now 12/21/22 for one month
That seems like a good deal
How would you compare it to Homepod mini? I use spotify btw

can this speaker be connected to a laptop and alexa?

Can you please show performance vs your gen 1?
Define "Performance"?
I'm glad I'm still alive to see good smart speakers. =D
They could be smarter, but they sound good.
Excellent review, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video as usual.
Would you consider doing a video on the ISS integration
Do you mean the international Space Station?
If yes..... YES... It looks easy enough. should be a quick one
@@HiveMindAutomation Yes
@@HiveMindAutomation that would be great, many thanks
Added to the pipeline, might even shoot it this weekend
