This video completely ignores the acquisitions made by Kenny that facilitated their turnaround. Dye, Podsednik, Iguchi, Pierzynski, Contreras... Schuler may have acquired some of the pre-existing players, but it wasn't until Kenny's moves happened that they gelled as a team and started to win. Very poorly made video all around.

I don't ever recall Kenny Williams putting on a Jersey and go out an blow those games... Y'all always want to take credit from a man of color and give it to someone else! The White Sox was in position to win in a few of those seasons after 05 and the players just could not hold up their end of it. How do you start 23-10 and blow? How do you blow a 9 game lead and blow? How do you win a blackout game, a game that should've gave you momentum in the playoffs and then look like shit against the Rays, I guess that was Kenny's fault as well? How about the owner that was more concerned about basketball titles than baseball, a sport that he claims to love.... He was more concerned with putting the Sox on cable than winning and that's been the Sox downfall!

@@Tornado1994 Sounds like the kind of comment a true Cubs fan. 2020 is going to be the year they blow the Baby Bears out of the water, although I must admit a lot of the Sox's problem was not doing anything to better themselves, always allowing other teams to snatch up choice players, thus always finishing in the second division. Maybe now this will wake them up to continue making deals to keep the team competitive & maybe win a World Series or two. Just what the Sox need, a gm who's a Cubs fan. Traitor. But if the Sox win a World Series, then I'll forgive him. Kind of reminds me of Harry Caray bolting the Sox broadcast booth to the Cubs. Another traitor.

I think the main reason the Sox went down after 2005 was the trade of Aaron Rowand and the release of Frank Thomas. Yes Jim Thome was a monster offensively but the trade of Rowand left a big gap in center field. His replacement Brian Anderson was not big league ready. And Frank Thomas was let go and ended up having a MVP caliber year in 2006. Also Detroit was just loaded with talent. Plus that 6 man rotation would've helped them tremendously. Jose Contreras was getting older and probably couldve used an extra day off. Javier Vazquez and Freddy Garcia were now in their 30s and probably would've benefited from an extra day off.

Not to mention retiring with the team that drafted him. He did have a productive season in Oakland in '06 and was decent with Toronto in '07.
But with Thome you got a lefty power hitter that was still capable of giving Konerko a day off at 1st (if needed?). Start whoever had seen/hit off pitchers during interleague games (pre NL DH). Thome was also from Illinois and was as good of a teammate that one possibly ask for. So again it hurt to see both go. Especially when Thome was in Minnesota. Ouch!

Imo when we got thome and Dunn I did not like it. They were two power hitters on the decline. True they had good numbers before but we as an organization have never been good at bringing sluggers in from another organization. Remember Albert Belle and his 55 million contract. Aside from bringing in Bo Jackson and saving his career, we pretty much never have been good at bringing big names in here for big bucks. Remember David Wells and John walkout Kruk.
We are way better at developing our own talent, Frank Thomas, Maggio ordonez, Carlos Lee, Aaron Rowan, Joe Capt comeback crede, mark burhle, to name a few of the many. 2005 we did it on pure talent, team work, and exceptional coaching. We did it with guys we brought up from our system with a few brought in through FA and trades. Jump to 2019/2020. And we have the building to bring us back to where we need to be. True we need starting/relief pitching, but we have the talent to bring us to the playoffs. We really need a dome lol, it stays to cold in the Chi to be risking our talent from injury.

Good video. Very perceptive and accurate on Williams and Hahn. Completely overrated. Disagree on Thome trade. This actually changed the offensive style of the team. They went from a “motion” team to a “station to station” team. 2005 DH Everett could hit and run, to some degree. Thome had more power but no speed, so middle of Sox lineup became a DP waiting to happen. Rowland was a sound, if unspectacular, CF and part of core that developed into 2005 team. Sox had no replacement for him in center. Plus key setup men, Politte and Coots, did not duplicate 2005 success. Politte actually hurt arm and out of baseball almost immediately after 2005. Williams also traded pitching depth. Finally, White Sox seemingly lost their strength and conditioning coach, as Jenks, Thome - Dunn, and Pierzynski we’re consistently way over weight and out of shape. Finally, Guillen lost control of the team. He didn’t like slow sluggers like Thomas, Lee, and Ordonez, yet gets totally immobile Thome and Dunn. My belief is Guillen May have had a drinking issue, as his behavior became very erratic, even more so in Miami, and no one has hired since. Sad, as he could have managed White Sox forever after winning World Series.

Williams and Hahn are terrible, just like Paxson and Foreman, Reinsdorf only wants yes men, it's a dam shame, however 2005 was magical, I went to so many games that year, Aaron's amigos, Paulie Paulie Paulie, Pierzynski, Crede, Dye, Scotty Pods, Iguchi, Everett, nothing but clutch Uribe, how many game walk offs he have that year, 6, 7, unbelievable, the pitching staff was studs, Contreras, Sweaty Freddie, Garland, El du que, and the soul of the team Buerhle, I honestly, in a 7 game series, would put that team against anyone all time, they had everything you want, power hitting check, Paulie, Crede, Dye, speed check, Pods and the bench had a couple speedy guys, defense was undeniable, Rowand, Crede, Uribe, Iguchi, Dye had a decent arm, and Pods could cover 300ft of outfield, Clutch was thru the roof, Paulie, Crede, Uribe, Pods, Pierzynski, Bobby Jenks, even the rest of the bullpen had a great year, Cotts, Marte, Viscieno, Politte, Hermanson before he got hurt, the Hall of Famer got injured and the team didn't miss a beat, some might say got better. the collapse was Kenny trading Rowand, Crede getting injured, and the pitching staff wasnt as good, I forget that one starting pitcher they signed who couldn't even get past the 5th inning and they extended him, I called ESPN radio and got booted off the air for swearing after they did that, Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn should have been gone, but the ownership is cheap as hell, oh well, they got something going now, just need some pitching and a manager, unless they catch lightning in a bottle, 2020 should be a good year, but the possibilities are there Go Sox

I wouldn't call it a collapse as there wasn't really a build-up. They made some interesting moves going into 2005, alot of the players (namely the pitching) had career years all at the same time that season. They could've maybe made another run the next season but they traded Rowand and even though Thome was great it made the Sox go back to relying on the 3 run homerun instead of playing Ozzie ball.
