CNJ 113 Holiday Trains from Minersville 2023

On December 9 and 10, 2023, I was joined by ‪@YellowNoseProductions‬ and ‪@jackboy317‬ on a trip to Pennsylvania to see several steam locomotives. The final locomotive we saw was on December 10 in Minersville, PA. Every year, Central Railroad of New Jersey 0-6-0 #113 runs Santa Trains from Minersville, PA to Schuylkill Haven, PA and back, typically for just one weekend. We dedicated our Sunday to the 10:30AM and 1:00PM runs of 113. The morning chase was mostly rainy with thick fog in the surrounding mountains. We lucked out with the train clearing up a bit for the 1:00PM run; however, the fog still persisted. The fog made for some unique shots of the 113 as it pulled its 9 car train through the hills of Pennsylvania. 113 has a unique opportunity to be pushed to its maximum capabilities on the Reading and Northern’s trackage. Great footage of a great event. Just looking at the trains someone could of thought it was 1860 instead of 2023. I assumed they made several stops on the way and passed out candy and gifts to children and needy families.
