    Any steel over an inch thick is supposed to be preheated your weld is no good

    • @victimovtalent6036
      @victimovtalent6036 8 месяцев назад +1

      what for?

    • @BenjaminMilesPerry
      @BenjaminMilesPerry 8 месяцев назад +3

      Dave tack welds during fit up do require preheat unless they are to be ground out during weld out and incorporated into the weldment. And I've preheated plenty joints with weldments less than 1"T, as per the WPS. IM SURE THE INDUCTION BLANKETS or RoseBud went to work prior to weld out

    • @Sneakyjoe69
      @Sneakyjoe69 8 месяцев назад +5

      Anything 3/4 to 1-1/2 inch thick needs to be preheated to a minimum 150 degrees.
      Anything 1-1/2 to2-1/2 225 degrees .
      Anything above 2-1/2 needs to be at 300 .
      This is per AWS d1.1 structural code . This is to prevent hydrogen cracking and has to be done it would not pass UT . This is very common knowledge for anything structural . With that being said looks like he was just tac welding as he never showed the full welding process I would imagine he preheated it unless he’s in Mexico or a 3rd world country

      And yes it’s not cast iron haha they stopped using iron structurally in the 1900s . Local 433 ironworker here 👋

  • @mikeokeefe2014

    As Ironworker I've seen alot of crap fast welds by guy's in to much of a hurry and no prep just like this guy with no PPE !

      Your damm rht M O 38 years cert.welder 7018 and 232 .072 seismic wire and 35 years structural Fabricator always pre heat at least 350° for 1" steel

    • @SeldomFales
      @SeldomFales 5 месяцев назад

      That’s right, no spec, no Code of construction, so no WPS. Welder likes the “looks” of his weld but cold lap til hell freezes over! Rejected!

    Az alap a fémtiszta felület! Ez nem az! A gyökökbe nem heftelünk elektródával! Csak annyi fűzővarratot amennyi szükséges és csak oda ahova feltétlenül kell! A másik hegesztő kolléga már végzett a hegesztéssel , akkor miért nem ő tűzte meg Co2 vel??

      Depends on what process, doing a piece like that would suck with SMAW, but some FCAW-S 1/16” and up would make quick work of that in the field.
