  • First lap at Lemans in a 866 OA F1 (elite elite parts). Lap time 14:55, about 5 seconds slower than my better laps. Some players are almost 1 minute faster, and I'm wondering if my system is affecting performance, or if speed bug could make that much difference.

NFSW.EXE doesn't calibrate QueryPerformanceCounter (you can see the text in NFSW.EXE since it is a library call to kernel32.dll), which it uses to run its physics engine. Instead it trusts that QueryPerformanceFrequency is accurate, but on some systems, usually when overclocked, the reported frequency is 2% to 5% low, resulting in the physics running 2% to 5% faster, resulting in 2% to 5% faster lap times. If the reported frequency is 5% low, then a 15:00 lap at Lemans will be reduced to 14:15.
