Defo more Sharon YT bass lines please…. Seen Avishai a couple times he kills, wicked bass, fabulous band leader and composer. Met him with Chick Corea and then with his own band.
Oh my F'ing GAWD! Sharon didn't just steal Ian's bass, she stole Scott's bass face and she should never, ever give it back!. More, I said MUCH MORE OF SHARON PLEASE.
She's a great teacher! Very awesome video. Scott is a great teacher himself but I'm really enjoying the new people he's added on his channel lately too.
When you’ve edited so many SBL videos that you can flawlessly assemble the teaching, humor, cut scenes/outtakes, and gear in your introduction on the channel 🎉10/10
@@dogbreaththe3rd851 why must you instantly compare her playing to that of Jaco or Jack? I doubt you have the skills that they do, and you have no room to insult.
Scott and Ian, I doubt you will ever see this, but… This was awesome. I’m so excited to see the direction these videos are going. The announcement you made on the last POD, that new fun videos are coming… all i can say is, AWESOME!!! BRING IT!!! Cheers lads. Sharon, thank you so much for the amazing “bass lines you should know”. Amazing lesson. Amazing look into that brilliant talent of yours. Incredibly inspirational. Cheers Sharon.
Need more JPop and JRock on this channel! There's so many absolutely insane basslines from artists such a Eve, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Zutomayo! Def recommend giving them some listens :)
Bitoku Sakamoto (bassist for Sailing Before The Wind) would be an amazing inclusion in SBL, especially since there's been other metal bassists featured (like Nolly Getgood)
Sharon I had no idea what a serious player you are. I thought of you just as Ian's sidekick. but now I see that you are funny and got the chops and the personality to do a show all on your own. You really know your music. I truly enjoyed this. Especially the "World aspect"
Welcome, Sharon! Really dug your song selections, sense of humor, playing, and teaching style. I personally really dig music from Turkey and the Balkans and was so excited to see you choose a Turkish melody for your video
Now that I've started doing jaw exercises to keep it from hitting the floor, I can probably finish watching this video! SHARON IS AN ABSOLUTE BASS BEAST!!!!!! I've been a huge Jan Hammer fan for a looong time!!!!!! Fernando Saunders is a terribly underrated bass player!!!!!
Very good bass player 👌🏿 Eastern Music is quite complex. Good job. Although, I can never get used to fanned fret Basses. They make me dizzy, just looking at them 😁
@@homelessman3483 Curently I'm working on transcription of "Daydream wonder" by the pillows. There is quite cool bassline there. But my fav from them is from "Last Dinosaur"
Fun video. The bass lines in Japanese pop and rock are one of the reasons I fell in love with bass (and Japanese music). A lot of misspent time in college was used pursuing Japanese music (early 2000's, so it was more difficult then). Been listening to Nevrness a ton lately, though there are some "classics" like L'arc~en~ciel's Driver's High (among many others, their bass lines are always killer), and Mucc's Waga Arubeki Basho.
>The bass lines in Japanese pop and rock are one of the reasons I fell in love with bass The same. Lemme hug you xD , it's a whole world after which modern west music seems boring :(
@@DmitryIsc199 I feel that. There are still some excellent Western groups and musicians, but I couldn't even begin to tell you who or what is in the top 100 charts anymore (literally no idea). I went on an anti-folk and riot grrl kick for a while, which detoured into shoegaze and rabbit holed to noise rock, then I came back around the spectrum to "normal" stuff like Cœur de pirate and Ingrid Michaelson, but I always come back to Japanese music, whether rock, pop, or indie. That's more of a listening journey than playing journey, though. That said, I've found examples of most of those genres (or close approximations) from Japanese artists as well. Short list of examples: Hanaregumi (folk / anti-folk), Guitar Wolf (punk / noise rock), Luminous Orange (Shoegaze).
YES! I loved my trip around the world with you, Sharon! You're so good (and funny)! Your joy of bass is infectious. Mastery. Yes, please make more videos.
Sharon, you are terrific! I notice that your left hand finger spacing is very comfortable and relaxed looking. Good technique! You will play a lifetime without injury that way. Your on screen personality is delightful! Hope to see more from you!
As funny as good player. Love the bass faces too. Awesome Sharon, and interesting tune choices. Some more work for me . Thanks 🙏 You’re very welcome to give us more 😉

YES!!! Go team Sharon!! What a refreshing video, I just love seeing bass players that have such natural ability and the perfect inner groove. Defo more please!
What a great episode, Sharon must definitely come back to show us more of the wide world of bass! By the way: since according to your definition Germany is also "far east", I missed some Obscura in there. Linus Klausenitzer and Jeroen Paul Thesseling have done some wicked things on their 6-string fretless. ;)
Hey SBL staff, more content with this beautiful bass-girl in the next months please! She's awesome in every musical aspect. As a huge Japan fan and with a Fujigen (FGN) bass as my main bass, I'm playing mostly J-Pop bass lines in these last months: yeah, I confirm that my hands are freakin' burning!
I would love to hear you talk about more Dempagumi songs, I'm a big fan of theirs and I adore their music. Love a good bassline. They perform with a band sometimes and they always look like it's such a workout playing their music.

Loved the video. A good look at something a bit different to the usual videos. Would love a bit of a deep dive on a band like Asian Dub Foundation with their east/west mix. Definitely can’t wait for the next appearance of Sharon (and Jerry!)
When you brought up how the Jan Hammer was hard with all the synth bass. It reminded me of trying to learn the 80s tune It's A Deadman's Party by Oingo Boingo as It doesn't sound like it would be super hard but it's a different kind of beast. The fretting patterns are different and with the rhythm make it super hard from most.
Thank You! You definitely introduced some new sounds to my ears. Definitely a fan of 'Bubbles'! Having traveled India and growing up in the Blue Ridge that sound vibes in a very special way.
