BGS bull shit the market, tell me have you ever seen a black label Blue Eyes or Charzard? I’ll wait, black Label supposed to be the most perfect card but what are the using as a reference?, untill the people who print these cards show us a prefect blue eyes or Charzard BGS are basing it off what they think is perfect l, they want people to chase a pristine black label 10/10/10/10, but only will give out 9.5, so people will spend more money trying to chase that quote on quote perfect grade, BGS will never want to flood the market with black label grades, even though manny cards out there are perfect relative to what idk that the problem, what are they bases these cards on?, so they give 9.5 so more collectors can try to chase and be one of the only people with a “perfect card”
And I bet if they do finally give out a black label Charzard or blue Eyes White Dragon, you can put it up to a PSA 10 version of itself and probably find no difference except the buyer.
So until BSG can show us a card reference to what a perfect card should be, I call bullshit and BGS does not want to flood the market with Black Label cards, so they can just profit on the people turning over to them chasing the Black Label Pristine grade.
They need to get the guys from Pokémon and Yu GI Oh, who does OC Quilty Control in on their grading, to actually say hey were from so and so, in a perfect world this is how a perfect card should be coming out of cutting machine and our factory.

Thank you for still bringing out content, I used to watch your videos a few years back. It's really interesting to see the huge difference in the prefered grading companys, which varies from TCG to TCG. I've been collecting Yugioh since I was a kid and been more or less involved in the community. Since a year I am in connection with MTG players / collectors cause I am loving a new TCG, called Flesh and Blood. Most people I meet there don't like PSA for several reasons, sometimes the exact reasons why you say you like PSA. Also the objective comparison between the grades given from 9-10 is hugely different is a huge difference. What I hear from Flesh and Blood / MTG is mostly that they say, PSA gives away 10s too easy and the slabs damage the cards cause they have no sleeve protection and the cards don't sit perfectly. I also heared a lot from YGO collectors that they think PSA is to incosistent with giving out grades, but you are right where humans work there are mistakes. Personally I don't like that PSA lags subgrades, that they are not using 0.5 increments regularly and that they use an outdated design. In Flesh and Blood there is even a new grading company called Premier Card Grading which is officially grading the prize cards for the company bringing out the game. Just super interesting to see the differences and similarities in the different hobbys, might even do a video on that myself.

I agree with this video and have two issues with BGS that you highlighted.
First, their cases are extremely aesthetically unappealing. They use at least 50% too much plastic, you could trim a full inch off of each side and 2mm from front to back and get a much better looking case than what they look like now. The strength of the material should be enough to protect the card, not the volume of it.
Second, partial grades are nowhere near as satisfying. I would much rather have a collection of PSA 10s than a mismatch of BGS 9.5/10/Black Label that would grade similar.
I would be fine with PSA moving to subgrades but don't like your database exclusive idea, they can just throw them on the back label of each card or create a new label. Way too much work to manually thumb through hundreds of serial numbers to find their details online.

  • @StromkirkCurse

  • @dandoodle6710
    @dandoodle6710 3 года назад

I agree with most parts of the comparison. From my experience, PSA slabs are not as safe as they look. While most of them are fine, I occasionally find cards where the rails on the 4 sides dig into the card edges, and leave white chips on the backside. These probably happen during shipping when sudden force is applied to a direction and the card gets stuck on the rail. BGS is less prone to this problem because they have sleeves inside. This uncertainty really put me off from buying PSA cards on ebay. They need to improve the slab.

Both companies have clear pros and cons, just wish they would learn from each other a bit. PSA is the overall winner for me because of the correctly sized slabs and lack of a 9.5. However their labels are terrible and IMO give off big flea market vibes (the bar code on the front especially doesn't help). BGS has a much better label that makes the card look like something to be proudly displayed, not something to be sold. Unfortunately the BGS slab would drive me nuts with the incorrect sizing and unnecessary card sleeve.
Best of both worlds would be a PSA slab with a BGS label, no subgrades.

I wouldn't mind if PSA in the future would start giving 9.5's considering the sheer amount of traffic they've been getting recently. It seems like a lot of 9's showing up recently on vintage cards are sometimes in better shape than some 10's and even when sent it to be regraded, they're still coming back as 9's. I think giving that incremental grade would help the vintage grader's have some solace knowing that if the card is a 9, it's a definite 9. And if it's a 9.5 maybe it could have been a 10 a few years ago, but you're still receiving a higher grade compared to a 9.

From a marketability standpoint, always go PSA, UNLESS you have a black label, then the argument could go both ways. But that's just in general, if you're looking for specific things to ride home about both grading services, I guess there are these things to consider.
    1. PSA is more well known, as I said, brand and marketability are important. Thus, people feel more comfortable buying and selling PSA slabs.
    2. BGS is considered more prestigious since they have much higher grading standards, and a superior authentication process. But this is to psa's detriment, since there are examples of them grading cards tens that should have been 8 or 9s, they do make the error of "weak 10s," every now and again. But this doesn't change how niche BGS is to some collectors.
    3. PSA has had issues authenticating cards before, even for Yu-Gi-Oh, huge example on this channel.
    4. Since BGS isn't as well known, having low populations of high graded, rare cards, can go in your favor.
    5. Well PSA slabs are less durable, they fit most cards better as mentioned here, whereas BGS is more for standard size cards. Sometimes this decision comes down to the cardgame of card you're grading.....but even then, if say most people pick pokemon for PSA.
