Its nothing like the actual story
in the original Roald Dahl screenplay, Patrick never mentioned that he was in love with someone else or is cheating on Mary. That is all implied.

In my opinion I always preferred the original but I noticed that she acted strange so I believe she got told by the detective that she was a suspect in a murder

I just thought how wrong it was to kill animals and especially to kill young animals .
I felt that the lamb was the forgotten victim in the book just like animals are always the forgotten victims in our societies . We are surrounded by animal cruelty and we just go on with our lives , no police being called, and no problem of conscience .
