- Rick Brettell, Margaret McDermott Distinguished Chair and Co-director of the Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Museums, The University of Texas at Dallas; Art Critic, The Dallas Morning News
The so-called "masters of the loaded brush"-- as the four artists featured in this lecture are often termed -- have been commonly related to their then lesser-known contemporaries, the Impressionists. Brettell will consider the work of both sets of artists and deal with both the commonalities among and contrasts between them, stressing the latter.
Such a great speaker, my 2nd time listening to it. And those guys are some of my favourite painters ever for sure
Thank you SOOOOO much!!!!! Not only absolutely professional, but VERY emotional, loving and powerful! Exceptional!
What a treat, a funny & very informative lecture on a disparate but connected group of outstanding painters, it was a real pleasure & thank you so much
Magnificent, thank you! I could have listened to you and looked at their paintings for a few more hours.
Bravo, brilliant!
Wonderful lecture, thank you very much for posting this.
Impressive, thank you.
Excellent - thanks! :-)
Super talk, thanks.
Very interesting talk, thank you. However, it's a pity that the paintings are not credited because he scrolls through them way too quickly and it makesit hard to follow which artist is which...
25:21/45:35 Stasov was an art critic
20:25/45:35 Repin's daughter Vera
the levels of projection is incredible even for an art critic, i don't think he realizes he's telling on himself
Iarba...what are you trying to Say?
@@judeirwin2222 honestly would have thought i'd put a time stamp 5 months ago about what might have pissed me off enough to comment, but just randomly clicking now 15:50 is enough to remind me. ordinarily like a bitchy man as much as the next person, just not so much this
All praise be to Allah
A very interesting talk, but with two caveats. The feedback on the mic was dreadful. Crackling and popping, painful to the ear and obscuring the speech. Almost unforgivable was the position of the speaker in vision where he blanked out a number of the visuals. Surely someone ought to have had the wit, and skill to back project within a portion of the screen that would always be visible.
Europeans see dignity and a cooler approach to seduction as being beautiful, which is why the lecturer misinterprets the look on the sitters faces.Grins are not considered abeautiful.
Christine, you mean “ sitters’ faces”.
