Hey Dude, love the content! Super helpful and very well explained. Helps me improve a lot.
Do you have a video on surfskating in a bowl planned by any chance?
@@janisde4153 not in the near future. Still got to train some more
Hi Shane, great videos.
I’m thinking of getting a surf skate. Cant find the carvers to try out in any shop in Melbourne. Annoying.
Have you tried CX vs C5 vs C7 trucks and could give any advice on which to choose?
Cheers
@@chellebunderla2045 i bought my carver CI flyer on kickpush.com.au
But i reckon most shops are out of stock.
Tried CX once, felt really stiff. But might be a good option for bowl.
Overall i would say go for Smoothstar for cross training, even on bowls
@@shanelai2515 I haven’t looked at smoothstar only yow and carver. Carver has a c7 truck with more swing that might suit better. I’m still undecided, defs not cheap without getting to test out. They just got the carvers in at twelve. ✌️
I had one other question, the trucks all seem really high up for pushing. I’m 5’5 so it’s like stepping off a cliff lol. Which have the lowest ride that you’ve tested?
Btw your videos are dope 🤙
Btw
Another great tutorial, thanks man, your channel has helped me loads with my surfskate progression...please keep the videos coming.
Stoked! Thanks for all the tips friend 🤙🏾 please keep making these
Worked on this one recently, thank you for the break down. ✌️🌊
The surf skate legend.
Sweet 🤙
Very very useful tutorial. Thanks for your sharing
Great tutorials, mate! I really like the breakdowns into different steps; it helps a lot. I went through many surfskating tutorials and almost nobody does it. Keep going!! 🤙
Thanks mate! Glad you like them 🤙😊
i have had fun and practice so many times since i know about snap and now i am learning this technique thank you
Already was a subscriber. And you are killing with the latest. I have my carver and having issues skrrrt sound. Means i can not make sharp turn. You help a lot. Cheers!
Good lesson 👍 like it it really helped me
I’m working on these slides this season to up my game on down hill carving runs. Great tutorial video!
Thanks
Merci excellent, relevant tips
Nice! Just wanna learn this trick recently. Great timing to learn from this video
Thanks! Let me know how it goes 🤙
thank so much for this trick
Fantastic tutorial! Stoked 🤙
Thanks!
Thanks!!! I've been trying to do that since last week and I was capable of landing it some times after the video!
Glad it helps!
mate you do great content - you break it down real well
Thanks 😊
Thank you man! You are the best!
Thanks mate🤙
Just waiting for delivery of my first cruiser, so I’ve been watching lots of content. Your demonstrations & visual notes are really helpful for well rounded explanation. Subbed 👍
Thanks mate 😊
A cruiser is not a surfskate
Thank youuuuu! You’re my hero
Let me know how it goes 🤙
Great Tutorial! Thank you so much. But I have to say I find riding a surfskateboard (with the loose front truck) fakie is the hardest thing ever... ;-)
Thanks mate super helpful
Great videos
Did you have a video up for this but front side ??
Good Job!
Thanks!
Thanks to this video I can now do this trick however I just realized I been doing backside lol
En español🇪🇸! Muchas gracias
sic quads bro
I'm going to try this on the YOW. fakie roll is gonna need a lot of practice methinks.
It's very tough with the surf trucks! That's my goal now this week, I'm just going to head to this really quiet, gentle hill near my house and practice rolling down fakie until it feels natural and then start working on the move/trick shown in this video. Let me know how you get on dude!
I love your videos, they have been of great help so far! I'm just a bit surprised to see that you look at your feet, as compared to surfers who usually look over the shoulder, any reason for this (I mean is there any reason to not try looking over the shoulder)? Thanks!
Yes, it is technically sound to lead with the eyes, head and shoulder.
This trick isn't particularly applicable in real surfing, so i did bother
I was just about to ask you how to switch directions on a surf skate...I found this...if you can do more that would be great...specifically getting used to leading with opposite foot
Try riding on your switch stance
I started a few days ago, feels like i have never been on a board. Haha
@@shanelai2515 thanks for taking the time to reply
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Maybe this is asking too much but when you are doing body motion is it possible to do split screen mirrored for those of us who aren’t goofy footed. Mahalo 🤙🏾
I tried on soft wheel, couldn’t slide. Should i change my back wheel to hard wheel?
I’ve used a waterbourne for around 6 months now and just got a CX. Arrives may because well idk Covid+brexit=crapfest ... not the point. Question for you is, what wheels do you run for good slides? Are they the same duro as the stock carver? Or do I need to go for a harder compound? Love the vids
Thanks man. Love your videos! What kind of wheels do you use?
Thanks! 70mm 78a
But those wheels are not concave, right? :) I must replace mine concave to slide better..
@@venture9903 yep not concave.
bereb...clack!
What wheels are you using?
Great video. What wheels are you using for this trick?
Formula 404 spitfire 101a recommended
Thanks you man but can i do it with 78a wheels?
Yes you can. Might be harder or easier depending on the surface you ride on
Can you do this on a smoothstar? I have been trying and it feels so heavy.
I find it much easier on the smoothstar because smoothstar is light
Dude what wheels you using? My 78a wheels are so sticky not sure if a harder wheel will help?
In this video, it's a 70mm 78a. But the surface is smooth concrete. Harder wheels will definitely slide more easily. Carver wheels on road are defo really sticky.
I would worry more about getting the right technique and timing though.
It will help to do a pre carve and tight turn before releasing the tail to complete the first 180
I would like to know how much body ache I will be experiencing once I start practicing this. I'm scared. LOL
As I am the regular, Can you please do a mirror video?
what do you mean by mirror video? i cannot ride regular foot
I mean can you use your video software to flip the video so pp who is regular foot can easily understand. :)
Sorry bro, my video editing software can't do that
@@watchpack use a 4k downloader to download his movie and do it yourself :)
I always thought the "reverse" part of the trick meant you should do the second 180 in the opposite direction of the first one (slide). Example: if you rotate 180 clockwise, to reverse you'd have to rotate back counter clockwise; if you rotate 180 counter clockwise, to reverse you'd have to rotate back clockwise. Isn't that it?
In surfing there is both 'carving 360' - watch kelly slater for that and also 'reverse 360'. We have to differentiate both
@@shanelai2515 Yes, just watched it... Basically, in the carving 360 you keep rotating the whole 360 in the same direction:
- Regular frontside: counter clockwise
- Regular backside: clockwise
- Goofy frontside: clockwise
- Goofy backside: counter clockwise
In surfing, the only reverse I found was the air reverse, which is basically changing directions. Example: if you're regular and are riding a wave to the right, you do the bottom turn backside (clockwise), and then when you hit the lip you rotate frontside (counter clockwise) in the air.
I don't actually know how that translates to surfskating, but I guess the name is not as important as the actual trick! lol Great content, man! Love your videos!
Thats it bro! I think How To Rip channel has a video on the reverse 360 🤙
does a backside reverse 360 exist? Do a tutorial please!!
Yea i do both to pivot out
I can’t do the 180 kick turn cause my board is too loose...
Yeah riding fakie is very hard with loose front trucks
What wheels are these?
70mm 78a
great video dude but please dont wear those denim shorts no more
What craver truck were you using for this trick?
C7
@@shanelai2515 is it possible to do this trick with the cx truck ? Would you recommend c7 type truck for surf skate training ?
@@jeremychanys yes it's possible to do it with CX. It might even feel easier to come out fakie with CX because of it's stability.
C7 is nice for a stable surf cruising. But there are better options if you want more leans and angles
@@shanelai2515 Does this mean you would recommend C7 truck for surfing turns like cut backs instead of CX? Do you have a video reviewing c7 vs smooth star ?
Cx or c7
C7
Shane Lai so,How long the board you used?
6 months

Hi Shane, do you think you could do a tutorial of how to do a 180 snap turn but it's in the air. I don't know the technical names sorry. Around the 30 sec mark in this video the guy does one ruclips.net/video/FyImvWAD_zU/видео.html
no problem if this move isn't possible to do a tutorial for right now.
Yeah not yet possible right now. A lot more training for me before doing that
Thanks for the suggestion 🤙
@@shanelai2515 yes no problem bro I was thinking it looked quite advanced. I probably couldn't do it even with a tutorial haha. I've learned a lot from your channel man my skating is coming on loads. I watch your videos every day to try get all the moves and positioning into my head. Thanks!
This is literally impossible. I tried a couple times, I fell and I broke my hand.
😭
He's wheels aound like a fart xD. Seriusly take the audio only, one would be able to guess it's a skateboard xDD
