I have both. Picked up the P3 first and love it for BTS video. Due to how fragile the P3 is, I decided to get the Action 4 for taking on vacation where I can easily throw it in my pocket. As an added bonus, I didn’t have to learn a different operating system or app.

Hi Sean, just wanted to add that an additional reason to the blurry footage of the Pocket 3 on your Mountain Bike could also be that the Osmo Pocket 3 likes to try to use Auto Focus to focus in on something (preferably a face). That blurriness is being caused by the Auto Focus "hunting" for something to lock onto. Of course, you're correct, vibrations don't help the gimbal at all. Osmo Action 4 wouldn't suffer from this as it has no Auto Focus and everything in frame should be in focus regardless of distance.

What if we switch of the auto focus mode on pocket 3 .. does it give appropriate results .. cz I felt the same .. it focuses on centre but background video depth is a lil blurry .. need one for music videos .. digi 3 or gopro 12 ?

Since getting the Pocket 3 when it came out last fall, it quickly became my goto camera. The video coming out of it looks more like the video I get from my mirrorless cameras, than the Action 4 does. If that is important to you at all. And I do very little that would require a real actions camera, so that is another reason I keep reaching for the Pocket. But the Action 4 does have advantages unrelated to be rugged, which is its biggest asset. The removable batteries mean you can film as long as you want, for days or even weeks. It's also more portable. Great comparison, these are both great cameras, you couldn't really go wrong with either one. Thanks for sharing.

I use the Action 4 for bike riding videos & the pocket 3 for walking around videos. Both are A1 imo, I wish DJI would make a 360 camera as well.

I'd like to see DJI make a drone with a drop down 360 camera. Can you imagine the possibilities that would open. Heck, I'd settle for a mount for one of my more robust drones that could handle the weight of an insta360 X3/X2. New frontiers that would allow the viewer to look where he or she wanted instead of the cameraman or director deciding.

I would like to request a comparison of the Pocket 3 vs Action 4 on a gimbal, Hohem iSteady Pro 4 for example. I would like to buy a new camera but still a bit on the fence between the two. An action 4 with a possibility for decent low light because of the mech stabilization would be great. I couldn´t expect it to be as great but the action 4 + gimbal would still be cheaper than the pocket 3 but still maintain the waterproofness and other benefits.

Pocket 3 is great. But it is super fragile. I'm gonna add an Action 4 to help with the riskier moments.

as a solo content creator i would say if you owned both you would be covered. i use the action 4 and I'm going to buy the osmo pocket 3 for low light situations

Excellent comparison Shawn! I ordered the Action 4 through Amazon but after 10 days it still hasn't shipped. I'm not sure if it's a shipping issue or a back order issue but I do wish some kind of notification had been sent out. It seems like these two cameras are a bit of an apple and orange comparison. Both are good cameras but intended for different uses. Like you said, they compliment each other so for those who have a use for both, getting both is the sweet spot.

what if i mount the action 4 onto another mechanical gimbal? Would it fix it stabalization issues with lowlight?

Both have their perks and bring their own uniqueness to the table. I think it comes down to what content you're filming.
For starters, I just bought the Osmo Action 3 to try and see if it meets my needs. It's the first DJI action camera I own. So far, I'm impressed with it. The Action 4 is on my list of things to buy.

great comparison, just sold my action 1 for $170 and got the A4, seem like a nice upgrade, can not justify the pocket 3 that cost almost double lol.... new A4 for $270 is good enough for me :)
