As a former Glycine employee I can assure you that there is ABSOUTELY NO DIFFERNCE between pre and post Invicta purchase Glycine watches. Any changes or differences were initiated by the existing Glycine design team and are the natural progression/improvement changes implemented the company. Part of the purchase agreement stipulated that Invicta would only provide promotional assistance going forward and have no say whatsoever in any designs or corporate operations. (They don't even share R&D cost) Both companies maintain their pre purchase composition. Any perceived differences attributed to the take over are false and made by misinformed people trying to justify buying or not buying Glycine products.
I have 2 more videos on the differences between these watches which specifically focuses on the logos and the lawsuit filed by Emporio Armani. I believe I clear up a lot of the questions I ask in those 2 videos. Hope this helps. 👍🏻
The winged logo is the one they used from about 2010-2018. After that they went back to their original logo. The weird thing is they still use the winged logo on some watches (seemingly only some combat subs). These must be left over dials from pre 2018.
Great video. You have some sweet watches!! I get super excited over ordering an HMT from India...LOL, Could not imagine having a Tudor on my arm and a glycine is each hand! You are definitely Rocking it!!!
Ok so the original logo is the one in the grey watch I.E the crown logo. Glycine switched over to the "winged crown" logo which is the one on the red sub before the Invicta take over. At some point during the Invicta take over glycine had legal action taken against them by emporio armani claiming the new logo (winged crown) looked too similar to their own logo and as such Glycine were forced to return to using their old original crown logo. Once the stock of winged crown models has all sold out you should only see stock with the original crown logo
Now that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. So I have a “rare collector model combat sub” 🤣🤣Just jokes that is good to know. I think I want to make a video explaining this. Do you mind if I mention that you were the person that provided the info? Thanks again man.
A bit late to the party, but I just bought a GL0094. I have no idea what will arrive. Drilled lugs? Crown or wing logo? Crown stem seal? ETA or Sellita? Or a combination of who knows what!?? Eitherway I'm excited to get it. The value for money is amazing. Thanks for your video!
Gavin. You have chosen wisely. 🤣 Glycine makes some great watches. If you are interested I have two videos trying to figure out what the deal with the different logos and drilled lugs and all that Jazz is about. I think my subscribers and I pretty much have it nailed down why the differences between my two Glycines. Keep Rocking those Watches my man🤘🏻
Hello Matt Recently my bought a Glycine Bronze with brown dial & Brown bezel without the 24 hour numbers looks & runs great. I'm seriously looking at the 39mm .
I think the confusion with the Glycine logo is that they hit a road block with the new logo for a bit with a legal battle with Armani. Glycine won the court case but while it was on going they were using the old logo in some new watch designs.
I picked up a GL0076 from Costco last year for $289.99. Best value for money watch that I've ever owned. It quickly became my daily beater. Mine is the same as yours - non-winged printed logo and no drilled lugs. Concerning the whole logo-pre-Invicta/post-Invicta thing, here's what I know. Around 2015, Glycine changed its logo to the winged version that you have on your GL0078. This was immediately before the Invicta takeover. Shortly after being acquired by Invicta, they got sued by Armani because the new logo looked too similar to Armani's. Armani was able to get an injunction against Glycine to prevent them from continuing to use the winged logo on their watches, so they reverted to their previous logo. The logo actually has nothing to do with the Invicta takeover. That said, your GL0076 is the newer watch. Glycine did stop drilling the lugs after the Invicta takeover, probably as a cost-cutting measure. However, other than this, no other changes to their watches have been made. Part of the agreement in the acquisition by Invicta was that Invicta would not make any substantial changes to the watches -- Invicta is only supposed to assist Glycine with marketing.
You are correct sir. Did a video on this where it explained everything. Glycine actually appealed the ruling against them and won however they had already returned to the old logo so they just rolled with it.
Thanks for that, it was confusing the **** out of me, the 2 different logos in combination with or without drilled lugs. This explains it all. I like the winged logo better but they are hard to find these days. I own 5 Glycine watches and just purchased the GL0076 at Invicta's EU store for a ridiculously low price, €228, it was the last one in store and it had the winged logo in the image, but I'm pretty sure they are gonna send me one with the old/new logo and no drilled lugs. I'll have to wait a bit as they're shipping it in from their overseas warehouse. I do hope it wasn't a mistake in their listing and I bought a quartz instead. Just found out today Glycine now has Combat Sub Quartz watches that cost more than I paid for the GL0076!
Hi, My understanding is also that your green-bezel watch has the latest logo (larger Glycine ‘crown’ logo printed in outline) and case design (no holes in case lugs) and your red-bezel watch is the design that was introduced by Glycine just prior to the Invicta takeover: thinner silver logo applied to dial. There was also a previous version that had a filled-in or solid ‘crown’ logo that looked quite similar to the latest logo.
I would assume you have a new dial and old case because if you look up GL0078 right now they don't have drilled lugs nor do they have the little rubber ring inside the crown.
FriedMuffin that’s kinda what I was thinking. Like maybe they were transitioning to the new dials and still had old cases laying around. Thanks for the info sir. 🙏🏻
FYI I had ordered a sub on a rubber bracelet before I saw your video and it had me worried. It came yesterday and all my concerns have been unfounded. The lugs are drilled and and the waterproof seal on the crown similar top Rolex is there. I think if you order this watch on a strap you will get drilled lugs.
I have a few watches from affordable (I never say cheap unless the item is physically cheap and crummy) to less affordable. And I have a couple Glycerines and I really like them. As for Invicta I've never had any true issues with them either. Although I did take one off while I was working on my truck to avoid messing it up only to slam the hood on it as soon as I finished. Oh well.
I like my invictas and was thinking about buying a glycine before the takeover I will be looking for a pre invicta takeover if I see they are making major changes to the glycine combat
brian buchert I agree sir. The Glycine’s are very nice watches. It just a little confusing what they are doing with their logo and some of the other changes. The mystery continues. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will let us know. Thanks for the comment. Take Care. 🙏🏻
Im new to automatic movements and watches in general. I've been thinking about a pre invicta Glycine or a Christopher Ward C60. What do you guys recommend?
George Pantoja for the money the Glycine’s are very nice. I purchased the grey bezel GL0076 for $289 at Costco. The Christopher Ward is also a very nice watch. If you are referring to the new sapphire see through one that is almost 3 times the price. If you have the money get the CW C60. Take care. And don’t forget no matter which one you get make sure you Rock That Watch. 🤘🏻
Unrelated: does anyone know if this bracelet will fit a 43mm combat 6? I’ve ordered this sub, and already have a GL0110 that came with leather strap and would like to throw the bracelet on it
Love to see another newer RUclipsr putting his ass out on the line. I just found your channel while watching Oisin and Paul today. Cool different stuff Brother, which I’m into and I dig the licks! When you get a little time, please check out my channel and let me know what you think... Thanks, MK
I have seen your channel sir and I quite enjoy it. I thought I had subscribed but apparently not. I have remedied that. The straps that you make look very beautiful. I see you are approaching 1k subscribers congrats keep up the good work. BTW what exactly is Horween leather? Is that the name of the company that makes it? Always trying to learn new things in this hobby. Take care. 🙏🏻
Thanks Brother! Yes, it’s actually called Horween Leather Co. out of Chicago since 1905. They make, or Tan, a wide variety of leathers, including the Rolls Royce of leather called Shell Cordovan. I look forward to seeing more of your shows and wish you the best of luck with your channel. MK
Strap a Watch so them Horween is one of the best? I hear a lot of watch channels talk about it but I’m not sure they exactly know what they are talking about. Good luck with your channel to sir.
Please take the bands off and brush off the cases before showing the on video. Watching the band bang around into the movement and see cruddy cases doesn't do you any favors.

@@rockthewatch yeah no problem 👍
Yeah, but Glycine appealed and won, so they can use the bird like one. No idea if they are doing it, though. It’s all a mess
Barry Goodwin I think they decided not to go back to it. Maybe we will see in the future.
Rock The Watch I think you’re right
Great video. just ordered a gloo83 from Costco for $299. waiting for delivery.
Next video, make tank noises and drive the tank around, love it

Andrew Main add another chapter to the Glycine Combat Sub mystery. 🤣 Does yours have the bird style logo or the W style logo?
@@rockthewatch Yes it does

@@rockthewatch The bird style logo

Really want another design in 48mm
I have the 078 with the "bird" like logo... BUT ... no Drilled lugs !! very strange...
I did a follow up video explaining everything about the different logos. Has to do with a lawsuit with Emporio Armani and all that jazz.
The Dials have the same tone of black? GL0078 seems to be more grey. Right ??
Yes sir. The red bezel one has a grey dial.

@@rockthewatch thanks for the reply. I think Ill go the CW route. My brother have the Glycine pre Invicta and it looks awesome too.
I've got a combat sub and a CW. Both great watches but I prefer the CW.
Then again it cost a lot more!
That's not a Sellita clone. It's a Sellita.

I don’t know buddy gotta measure the lug width with some calipers. I’m not sure but I hope it does so you can rock different straps.
Rock The Watch I was hoping some other idiot had already tried. I guess I’ll have to be that guy
