- It's been a decade already since Whitney Houston left us, but her voice lives on. In this video I'm reacting to her "I have nothing" live performance at the Billboards in 1993, as a part of a series where I look at all the amazing pop diva live performances I missed as a kid growing up in Norway without MTV (my fam didn't have cable, so we only had 2 Norwegian stations).

Whitney is my favorite singer I just got recommended this video because I watched other reactions to it. When you were trying to explain her tone the words I think you were looking for are rich, warm, and smooth like honey. Aside from her outstanding vocal ability her tone that resonance is unmatched by any singer past, present, and probably future.
She has complete control of the band - also, she had a lozenger in her mouth.

Whitney grew up in church, where music was ubiquitous. Storytelling by music is just part of that way of life. However, she quickly transcended that medium and translated it into pop culture. I totally agree with you that she keeps us on the edge of our seats, wondering what on earth she is going to do with her voice. She can go in 360 degrees in any direction she chooses to go. And she looks elegant, calm, and SO very fine throughout her performance.

This is a review of a performance, not a critique. And frankly, I think your take on thre matter is pretty silly, as many (if not all) great singers have vocal coaches who aren't necessarily able to do what their students are doing as a whole, but can still coach them on several things. So wat's your point?
