Had this album many moons ago but lost the album moving so much or it might be at my faimily home in the San Francisco Bay Area it is just awesome to listen to until I can retrieve my lost album just super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This one is probably my favorite version of this song. It's epic, it's haunting, and actually makes me picture the ghost riders themselves :D a fitting theme for what is essentially the American Southwest version of the Wild Hunt :D
I don't have this recording by the Norman Luboff Choir but I recently got a 33 & 1/3 anthology of RCA classics with Vaughn Monroe (break out the megaphone!) doing this number and it is equally great!
Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh, Ghost riders in the sky. An old cowpoke went ridin’ out one dark and windy day, Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way. When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw A’ plowin’ through the ragged skies and up a cloudy draw. Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh, The ghost herd in the sky. Their brands were still on fire and their hooves was made of steel, Their horns was black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel, A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky, For he saw the riders comin’ hard, and he heard their mournful cry. Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh, The ghost riders in the sky. Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat, They’re ridin’ hard to catch that herd but they ain’t caught ‘em yet, ‘cause they gotta ride forever on that range up in the sky On horses snortin’ fire, and they ride on, hear their cry: Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh, The ghost riders in the sky. The riders loped on by him and he heard one call his name, If you wanna save your soul from hell ridin’ on our range Then cowboy change your ways today, or with us you will ride While tryin’ to catch the devil’s herd across these endless skies. Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh, Ghost riders in the sky.
I love this album. My folks bought this in 1960 when I was 10 years old. I still listen to it.

Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh,
Ghost riders in the sky.
An old cowpoke went ridin’ out one dark and windy day,
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way.
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw
A’ plowin’ through the ragged skies and up a cloudy draw.
Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh,
The ghost herd in the sky.
Their brands were still on fire and their hooves was made of steel,
Their horns was black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel,
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky,
For he saw the riders comin’ hard, and he heard their mournful cry.
Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh,
The ghost riders in the sky.
Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat,
They’re ridin’ hard to catch that herd but they ain’t caught ‘em yet,
‘cause they gotta ride forever on that range up in the sky
On horses snortin’ fire, and they ride on, hear their cry:
Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh,
The ghost riders in the sky.
The riders loped on by him and he heard one call his name,
If you wanna save your soul from hell ridin’ on our range
Then cowboy change your ways today, or with us you will ride
While tryin’ to catch the devil’s herd across these endless skies.
Yippee yi ay, yippee yi oh,
Ghost riders in the sky.
