  • In Part 3, Truetone's Zac Childs (Ask Zac) gets the lowdown on John Leventhal's gear. Everything is covered from the wealth of instruments and amps he uses in the studio, to the outright Spartan rig he uses on the road. Also, John plays a number of solo clips that both showcase his signature touch and tone, and pays homage to a number of his favorite guitarists including James Burton, Reggie Young, Bobby Womack, Cornell Dupree, and Curtis Mayfield.

John’s musicianship, song writing and producing knock me out. He is the epitome of restraint and support that any artist could hope for. Thanks for interviewing him, and I look forward to the day he releases his solo album.

I saw John playing at a Marc Cohn concert in about 1991. I'd never heard of him, but as soon as he hit the first chord of the first tune he played, I told my date "This guy is gonna be really good!" I had no idea how right I was. It's been a pleasure to hear all of the great music John has played and produced over the ensuing years. Thank you for posting.

Back in the day I covered "Get Out of This House" with my bar band using this tuning. It's fabulously fun to play. Audiences just gotta get up and dance to it. John you are one of my favorite producers of all time. We studied you at Berklee (Steven Weber's class).
