@Angelo Khanhnhay my dad is an immigrant and he speaks English fine so I never learned Lao that’s the kind of situation I’m talking about I’d be concerned if you lived in Laos and didn’t know the language
This is the most instructive video I've ever come across. Thank you for your enthusiasm. Laos people are very understanding and respectful 🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦
I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this. It's been a goal of mine out of all of my siblings to be the first one (I'm the 2nd youngest) to try and learn our family language. I just really want to make my parents proud that they're culture and history isn't going to fade away. I feel this will bring me closer to them as well. So thank you very much for posting lessons.
I am African American but I am learning more lao for my daughter who is half Lao. She learns with her grandparents but they are very old so if they are gone one day id like her to continue using the language
Wow. That's awesome! I'm half ethnic Lao, half black and I unfortunately never had the chance to learn Laotian or Thai, as my mother is unable to read and write in both Thai and Laotian, so she didn't want to teach me since it'd probably be difficult for her. Though, it's so sweet to hear that you are putting in the effort into learning the Lao language and encouraging her to use the language from one of her cultures! :D
This video helped I’m from Vientiane Laos but ever since I moved here in America and I learned English and started speaking it more that I forgot my own language thank you for helping me the only words I know now because of stupid English making me forget I know hello,no,yes, numbers and more thanks again ❤❤❤
Xayiou, I only see that you only have 7 or 8 videos of teaching lao language. I would encourage you to do more. You do a great job at teaching and I've learned a lot from you. Very helpful.
Thank you for this lesson really ! My parents are from Laos and I am born in France. They never thaught me Lao due to fear of problems for integration but thank to you I can now try to learn it and maybe suprised them. So really thank you ! (the rythm seem perfect, I think it is nice that you insist on the prounonciation)
Sabaidee I have fallen in love with Lao culture from a friend of mine. She had started to teach me small things and then we no longer worked together. I really wish to learn more. I think your videos can help. Thank you for this, very good!!🎉
thank you. I am part Lao and I feel much more connected to my Lao family when i speak the language. I always go to the temple with my relatives, I figure these phrases will be useful when I go once again ♥
Growing up, my best friend was Lao. He gave me a phrase book when I was younger but the annunciation was hard to learn and I wasn't really motivated. Over the years, my group of friends in general became predominantly Laos. I learned colors so I knew when people were trying to cheat against me in card games. And my friends taught me a few other things as well. Well now I have a 2 year old son who is half Laos and already knows how to count to 10 in english and Laos. I told myself "no way this kid is going to talk back to me in another language", so here I am
I live in Laos and despite I can manage I do appreciate your effort, because not easy for a Lao to manage English, you really have set up a great example on how to help people to learn Lao, even using 'Lao karaoke' which is even more complicated
Hello Teacher Xayiou! I'm going to Laos and will stay there for 2 months. I'm trying to learn the Lao language and thankfully, I found your RUclips channel. I just want to express my appreciation since there are only a few Lao language lessons online. Thanks teacher Xayiou!
I am a Hmong fellow who’s currently talking to a nplog girl! And I want to take the time to say I want to learn how to speak this language too since my parents they have learned this language they don’t us it ever since they moved to the U.S and I’m just going to say I’ll take any opportunity to learn new languages! And I thank you for teaching those who wants to learn Lao!
Thank you teacher Xayou ! It's a real gift for me. I'm French and my grandma was born in Laos , she left when she was 20. She passed now and I really want to learn her language. 🙏
i’m coming back this summer to completely learn my native language from this video. i understand and can speak some from family parties but i wish my parents spoke to me more at home and i wish i learned how to write. i feel like it’s a second generation issue because parents don’t want us confusing with english
I like how he's teaching greeting for monks, as I never knew there was a separate greeting for "hello". I used to speak Lao very well but I lost the skill as I started school. Now I don't get to practice I as much because there are not a lot of Lao people where I live.
Thank you , you’re a good teacher , it’s my 5 months now here in Vte. I learned a lot of vocabularies & few phrases now I can form a sentence. .. thanks to you teacher Xl.
Kia ora from New Zealand. I am planning my first visit to Laos this year - December 2023. Did you only make one single language teaching video? I have just watched this and it makes Loatian language so clear, I would love to learn a lot more before my visit to your country. I will be in Laos for one month and would love to be able to communicate with the local people in their own language at least a little. I hope you are very well.
Sabaidee Rjaan, I learn a lot and I enjoy learning with you, and I want to learn more about Lao language and I was motivated what you said in your video, that one by one and step by step, slowly don't rush in learning and be consistent, I want to achieve my goal to learn speaking lao fluently in the future to come, and I am so thankful that I found your channel, if you are willing I want to learn more from you.
Currently in Laos and so fascinated by the language, I am learning to speak through the words people tell me,but your video is helping a lot too! Well done,Lao gnam lai
Thank you for your dedication to this video man! There’s this laos restaurant that I go to and the food is so delicious so I’m wanting to learn the language to order food the next time I go haha
Thank you so much for making this video. I have a friend who doesn’t speak very much English. I want to try and learn her language. So we can communicate with ease without her feeling left out or frustrated because she can’t tell me what she wants to talk about in English . 🥰
My stepdad is from Laos and his mom doesn't speak good English so thank you so much for this! I'm taking a trip next year to Laos! This was very helpful! :)
Thank you for this video. I’ve found this very informative. Most of the people in my gym are from Laos and Thailand and I’m motivated to pick up the language. I love Muay Thai, Laos culture, food, and the people.
So I spent 2 years in Thailand and learned to speak Thai decently. My Thai gf is from Esaan and so naturally speaks Esaan. I have a hard time understanding Lao so this video helps a lot. I also frequent a Lao Buddhist temple so this will help me communicate with the Ajahn.
Khon Thai Isaan speaking is the same as Laos If you understand your girlfriend Isaan dialect then you should not have any problem understanding Laos language
I've been looking for apps to learn Laos and couldn't find any, finally found this! Thank you so much I know this is an old video but still thank you ❤️ I'm trying to learn so I can communicate with my boyfriend's parents
What an interesting language Lao is! Khoi sabaiidee, lea jao day? Khoi sue Roberto. Khoi Ryu 54 pee. Khoi Rsai u meung Coronel (Chile), u kheung Concepción (Chile as well). Khoi hetwiek u Concepción. This is my first Lao lesson ever! I love learning languages, so I'm always nak-hien. Thanks a lot, thaan-Rjaan! Greetings from Chile, South America.
Yeah same.. I never learned Lao because my parents never taught me, but I feel a disconnect between me and my relatives because I don't understand it therefore Im trying to learn the language alone 😞
Same! I am making efforts to learn Lao because I don't want to forget my roots. I am going to give Thai a try because that just feels natural. Most Lao adults I know can speak both.
Thank you for teaching Laos I have a partner that speaks the language and want to impress their family not a lot of recourses to learn the language though !! Thank you!!
I've been learning Lao for a few years and just found your lessons. I really appreciate this and will continue watching your other lessons. In this first lesson I've learned two new words/phrases. One correction that might help those who are not native English speakers: Khong + pronoun = possessive PRONOUN, not possessive adjective. I look forward to your next videos.
My parents have been ASKING me to speak Lao for a LONGG TIME.I do understand my family members speaking Lao. They want me to learn because we are going to Lao in November.
Hi Xayio, I am an Australian now living in Lao. I thought you did great. You are an excellent teacher and I very much look forward to the next lesson. Thank you kindly. Kind Regards Girolemo (jim) Trimboli.
I really want to learn the Isan Laotian language instead of Thai because most of my friends in Thailand is Lao. I miss out of all of the good conversations, jokes and I can see that they struggle to keep me part of the fun by translating for me. I am more auditory and learn through pictures, movies & videos, context and storytelling more than anything else. I love geeking out on learning the proper pronunciations. Any website resources, apps, books, RUclips Channels do you suggest? Thank you! ❤
finally, i can learn my family's language
Thank you sir🥰❤
@Angelo Khanhnhay I feel like it's normal to want to learn your families language but that may just be me.
