That area you are in at 3:06... They used to have these banners up that were old-timey carnival freak attractions. The banners hung from the ceiling above the third floor down to a little bit above the ground floor. The people who put the mall together probably did that to distinguish Willow Grove Mall from all the other malls that didn't have a history before.

I saw old footage when they were still up

I remember those when they were up. 1984 was, most likely, the first time I'd set foot in the Willow Grove Mall with my wife and daughter. Twenty years earlier I was there on a class trip, chaperoned by my dear mother 😊 and a few other parent volunteers. Maybe Willow Grove Park was past its peak but we youngsters had a blast. It was an end of the school year trip and I remember being confounded because we had one more school day left. I couldn't figure that out and my little eight year-old mind could not get past having to return to school for that one day.

Back in the 60's there was one of the largest bowling alleys on those grounds, next to the Willow Grove Amusement Park. Spent a lot of time hanging out at the bowling alley.

I recall the part of the park called "6 gun Territory" where they would have cowboy shows and reenactments of shootouts in the western days.

Yes Captain, along time ago this Mall was formerly a huge amusement park way back and there used to be a trolley line from NW Phila going there...The trolley service there concluded in 1958 and shortly after the amusement park became a ind park and later the mall...

It was burn down. Famous rides .the thunderbolt and the alpine roller coaster.kids broke in the supply shed and took gas and set it.plus the neighbors complained. Bowling lanes over one hundred lanes.

Back in early 90s banana republic had a very cool store here. Before royal robbins or 5.11 it was the place you could find great comfortable cargo pants for shooting etc. There was even a fantastic scene display with a wrecked jeep on its side. Great mall

They removed the big, beautiful fountain not too long ago. Too much upkeep and not enough upkeepers, I guess.

Reason clearance store closing sales are not like they used to be is because now they use a liquidation company that Jack's up the price then puts on the "Discount" it's a wracket
