    I wish I had eleventy hands so they could each give this video a thumbs up. Heard them on the CD as a freshman in HS, and was fortunate enough to see them live around this time. Still gives me the chills EVERY time. DIsney screwed the pooch getting rid of them.

      I heard them live in Epcot back in 1988 or 1989, not sure of the year. Our highschool band was on at trip to Disney, Epcot, and Sea World. A friend of mine were wondering around Epcot with no real plan, when suddenly we heard them WAILING from several blocks away. We jogged towards the performance locarion, and we heard the very end of Malaguena..........it was impressive.

    • @MarkTomczak
      @MarkTomczak 5 лет назад +2

      These uniforms were contemporary with Vegeta first being illustrated.
      I don't know there was any cross-pollination between the two ideas (more likely both ideas are drawing from some third source out in the late '80s zeitgeist ;) ).

    An interesting blend of a mostly Madison arrangement with Cadet flavor toward the end. Concerto de Aranguez as the "opener" really sets the mood. Madison owns this tune.
    A shame the powers that be don't see the value of this kind of entertainment.

      The arrangement Scouts used in 88 was based very closely on one done by Bill Holman for Stan Kenton.

    Just an FYI, this arrangement is almost Note for Note the Bill Holman arrangement that was made famous by the Stan Kenton Big Band. Other than the very beginning and the very end, the rest is all Bill's.

    • @KingGuysBands1

      @@SoaringTrumpet Wow! You have some incredible insight into how the minds of fourteen guys you've never met work. The knowledge you gained from watching a three minute video is amazing. As one of the guys on this recording I can tell you that almost all of us majored in music. Many of had lifetime careers as professional musicians or music educators. I would think that by listening to this you would appreciate how many years we all spent in practice rooms. Not sure what "music sports" is but I'm kinda proud of the level of playing the group achieved. This was a gig. A very good gig that we worked our asses off to be good at. I spent eighteen years at WDW performing with several groups and my last seven was a leader of another really good band, The Hollywood Hitmen. As a sixteen year old high school kid I got to spend a weekend at a jazz festival featuring the Kenton band that included master classes with the bandmembers, a clinic by Mr. Kenton himself, and one of the most amazing concerts I've ever attended. Hopefully, by now you can see that we did and still do "give a shit" about ALL music and take great pride in our musicianship. But if it makes you feel good to denigrate something you know absolutely nothing about, cool.

    • @daveyboygee

      A lot of their songs were from the "Drum Corps Hit Parade." Their version of Malaguena was very much like 1988 Scouts except that theirs had all the screaming trumpet parts that we wished could have been in there.
      As a marching member of that DCI winning corps, I was happy to have been part of the inspiration for this Future Corps piece as, I think, anyone who played a song that Future Corps picked up would be!

      I don't recall trumpets being used in Future Corps ever? I will say that 88 was a year that I wish I had been old and talented enough to have been apart of the corps, but my time was nine years later. MYNWA brother.

    Too bad Disney pulled the plug on them about 20 years ago. Some of them helped found the Brass Band of Central Florida at about the same time Future Corps disbanded.
