  • Bit of a roller coaster in today's episode, I've definitely learnt my lesson to have an oil pressure gauge hooked up when first starting engines.

Oh man, that’s a tuff break, just awful! I know you’ll get it sorted, you’re so talented but nothing like a whole bowl of extra stress poured over your shoulders! You’ve done one hell of a job with the tonner though, she’s a real looker, I’ve never seen a truck like that.

Yeah bit of a bummer but I'll get it sorted, appreciate the support and glad you like the style I've gone with!

You need to bin that 5-30 oil. Way to thin for an older engine. You need to run at least a 20-50, I personally run penrite hpr 20-60. Also need to pack oil pump gears with vaso before you crank it to create a vacuum to pick up oil. Putting in excess oil won’t make it create vacuum in that oil pump.

It was actually 15-40 but would'nt have made a difference after I found out what the problem actually was... appreciate the advice though I know you know your way around these old holdens

I have been known to dabble in these old girls. The 5-30 bottle threw me off! 15-40 is okay, A touch too thin for my liking. Make sure next time to crank it over with the coil disconnected and oil pressure gauge, They can be a life saver. Looking forward to the next video!

Curse of the Holdens man.... Calculated risk, running an V8 after a long time sitting. Bugga.
Pack the pump with vasoline, pull the plugs so it can free spin.
Prolly too late if you've pulled the donk already.
All the best, enjoyed your vids mate

Yeah I've come to learn that these engines particularly have oiling problems, many of which I address in the next video
