  • Next Episode Thursday 24th August.
I'm riding to Paris with the crew at Hotchillee (on gravel). For the next 3 days we'll be riding through countryside, forests and farms with the final goal of meeting the Tour De France in Paris.
Day 2 takes us from Dieppe to Vernon, France. It didn't quite turn out as expected.

Tough luck, and I'm sorry that you could not complete the ride. Your videos have been great - thanks.

Tough luck. Very glad you weren't seriously injured. Top marks to the organizers for having medical assistance so readily available. Last year on a Fondo several riders had to go in search of help for a chap who broke his leg coming off on a descent. Me and another rider stayed with him...almost an hour in a relatively populated area.
Heal up and find a new adventure 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️

Yikes that sounds crazy! Yea the Hotchillee guys do a top job, paramedics on hand, sports massage at the water stops, bike mechanics on hand at all the stops. You’re very well looked after!

I was already looking forward to episode 2, and it was well worth the wait. Some of the places looked absolutely amazing fun, a shame you had to end it early. Here's hoping for a quick and easy recovery🤞🏻5 stitches is no joke, even if the fall itself didn't look too bad. But the most important bit, is the bike okay? 😂

Ah, nice of you to say, glad it lived up to expectation. Unluckily knee placement on a large rock 😉 the bike is ok thankfully, just a couple of new dings.

We feel your pain. My wife came off her bike on the first day of our Way of the Roses trip this week. She ended up in A&E too so we had to abandon. C'est la Vie 😊 Hope you weren't off the bike for too long.

Ahhh sorry to hear that! It’s properly disappointing when you’ve been planning something for a while. But it’s not all bad if you can get back on your bike a few weeks down the line.

Oh man, such a bummer that you had to abandon the ride, on the video the fall didn't look so bad at least, hopefully you have a speedy recovery! Earlier this summer i had a crash too, going downhill at a not insignificant speed, hit my knee pretty bad, but eventually carried on riding. But the feeling i can absolutely sympathise with now.

It never looks quite as bad on video 😅 it was quite a steep gradient so when I came over the handlebars I was moving at a lot of speed and then had a impact with a few rocks 😬 Glad you weren’t too injured by your crash; it’s unavoidable really if you ride a lot.

Oh, man! I feel gutted for you, the same happened to me during a recent ultra event. I can empathize with the disappointment since it's about the miss opportunities and time loss. People who made it and posted photos on social media do not help either. What will make up for it always is a revenge trip, so feel better soon and you'll be up on your feet and going places before you know it.
