Great tips. One thing I like to do for ambient is stretching a smaller piece of audio out really far and reverse it. Sometimes I'll apply early reflections reverb before bouncing it and giving it a reversal.

When I make dark vocals like in my haunting soundtrack, I just pitch it down and make it sound dark by modulating it a bit.
