  • Troubleshoot Sensitivity Labels! This Label can't be applied in word for the web. This is the error I got in my first video on Sensitivity Labels 10 months ago. I never followed up on this until someone commented on this video again yesterday - asking if I ever found a solution. Well, I have now - so hear it is!

Haha! Fame at last. Thanks for revisiting this Peter. This also led me to resolve the IRM error I was experiencing in the desktop version. I had to install the AIP Service Module and enable the service in PowerShell before I could apply the labels. I don't know if there's something unusal about our tenant that resulted in the service being disabled... I haven't seen anyone refer to this in any of the sensitivity label guides on RUclips. Anyway... thanks again, another problem solved 👍

Thank you for the reminder. I’m so bad at saying I’ll follow up videos and then never do. 😀

I wonder if there's solution if the reverse happens. If labels don't work within the M365 Apps. Thanks for this video super handy.

Oh I'm not sure what you mean? Can you explain a bit more please?

@@peterrisingM365Sure, we have an ongoing support case with Microsoft where Sensitivity Labels are applying to the web version of Outlook, Word etc but not applying to the applications. We since removed label permissions, which created a second problem where documents remained encrypted, and as a workaround we had to manually remove labels from documents. Hope all that makes sense. We have a meeting with MS today, hopefully they will offer some clarity on the Encryption issue, and as to why labels didn't show in locally install apps.

@@peterrisingM365 Post 1.5 hour meeting. There's a lot nuances involved. MS are taking all current policy configurations and will revert back to us. The encryption on documents are still applying to only a few when opening the application, but not the web version. Even though we removed access control and lifted other restrictions.
