Kudos to the team of Zakhmee - Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri, Gauhar Kanpur (lyrics) and on-screen actress Reena Roy to make this song a fabulous song. This song seems to be overshadowed by other more popular big hits from the Zakhmee soundtrack.
The uploaded song is an extract from ZAKHMEE 33⅓ R.P.M. O.S.T. LP record (HFLP 3517), a reissue from HMV, India. Unfortunately, the copy of the first pressing LP with us is not upto the mark for vinyl digitization, so we had to depend on this reissue. The LP cover used in the video is from the first pressing LP. There’s NO NOISE REDUCTION & NO ENHANCEMENT done post vinyl ripping. Current copyrights are with Saregama.

What a lovely melody and music arrangement as well. Zakhmee was Bappi Lahiri’s first real big hit. Many people try to write off Bappi Lahiri but on my books he is an absolute legend in Hindi film music mixing fantastic melody with great rhythm. Following in the footsteps of the great RD Burman he fused indian melody with western music arrangements and did a perfect job. Zakhmee was followed by great music in Chalte Chalte & Aap Ki Khatir after which he never looked back, kept good music alive for decades. Swapan Babu thanks once again. Take care & God bless. Btw, I loved the hiss in this rip. It kind of makes me nostalgic.

So many years back, I used to listen to these songs in my HMV Record player. This song is particularly memorable for its melody and the divine voice of the Goddess of music. Those were the best days of my life.

Yes,Bappi da is known for his disco songs and foot tapping numbers. But,he had composed many beautiful & melodious songs. I especially like his songs from 'Sailaab' and 'Afsana Pyar Ka'. 'Mujhko ye zindagi lagti hai ajnabi' and 'Tip tip tip baarish shuru ho gayi' are my favourites.

Bappi Lahiri, a Bengali music director in 70's & 80's, followed the musical style of Pancham/ Rahul Dev Burman but with added loudness. Later on, in his career, Lahiri turned out to become a disco musician.
RDB's music was more pleasing and melodious while the beats & rhythm were not as superfast as Lahiri's, in most of his compositions except in one of the initial movies where RDB had to compete with OP Nayyar in 60's. It was Vijay Anand directed crime thriller film "Teesri Manzil".
This song, "अभी अभी थी दुश्मनी..." was more suitable for Asha Bhosle. Lata's voice got *_shrill_* (piercing) at places of high pitch.
Overall, Bappi Lahiri must have snatched some of the movies from Pancham in those days on account of lower charges/ fees compared to RDB.

Bappida in one of his first albums as music director. He entered the film music industry with a bang with these original scores which is a testimony to his genius. Way back when he accompanied his parents as a child genius on the tabla in various music programs in Kolkata, Lataji predicted his future genius.

Immediately after this I searched and listened to other versions in youtube and online music.Somehow LP seems better.Unable to pinpoint why?
Maybe because I am a layman and not aware of all technicalities.
Had Bhappi da recorded this song in stereo it would have even better.
Thanks for your feedback. Maybe you like the original vinyl flavour with noise, clicks and pops. I find a sort of richness in the vinyl sound. Digital recordings are usually loud and clear, many like it for that only.

Rare song. Thanks for uploading, Swapan ji. Different from the usual Lata Mangeshkar songs. Lata ji showed her versatility from this song. But,somehow I think Asha ji would have been a better choice for this song.
