Met Andrew on an Irish mountaintop last year, can confirm, the man is still a UNIT!!! Brilliant Documentary. Drew, if you see this, give us a shout, Rowan and I would love to catch up with you again.
Tell your dad I remember seeing this on tv when I was 18 (and multiple rewatches on video) as was inspired to get active outdoors and on the hills. I started out Munro bagging with my dad, then my wife and now my sons. Am out wild camping in Glen Orchy at the moment as was reminded to look up this old footage as I’m currently being eaten by midges and I remembered the montage of midgie swatting in your dads program. Anyway all the best to you and your dad!
Such an impressive challenge. Considering when it was undertaken the photography is excellent. A fantastic team effort to support the challenge. Sets down a marker few will even attempt yet, hopefully, encourages others to, at least, attempt a a round of the Munro’s or, if nothing else, appreciate the challenge.
"F*** Rory, that sounds like the helicopter, start running!" Just watched this again, actually the first time I've ever seen it sober, as usually Mr J pulls out the VHS after that 4th bottle of wine. Inspirational stuff guys, genuinely changed my life.
Great to see this on here as there are not enough outdoor programs currently on TV , Are you able to realise the Munro show, i believe recorded by STV ? Thanks
"To get rid of the munros"..."So many peoples lives ruined by munro bagging every weekend"..? Says it all about this pair , doing it for ego and bragging rights rather than the love of the hills.
Just a wee correction to the Intro blurb, yes the tv docu was shown in 1993, however Andrew & Rory set the record in the summer of 1992. Have to say that this was the film that I watched many many many times and gave me the inspiration to have a go at the record, which after several years of mega planning, never mind physically training, came true in the summer of 2000 with a self-propelled time of 48.5 days for the Munros. All thanks to Rory & Andrew for igniting the dream! Charlie Campbell
hi there I have a question for you expert mountaineers.. Is there anything in Hugh Munro biography that can be related to something funny like in the movie the Englishman who climbed a hill and came down a mountain.. I mean what was the perception of his great deed in the eyes of villagers he might have encountered? thank you so much.
