Hey guys! So here's my first oil pastel drawing tutorial for beginners! I used these after so many years! It's really fun using oil pastels, I really enjoyed getting back to them, expect some more oil pastel drawings soon! What would you guys like to see next in oil pastel drawings?

I would like to ask if you first started painting with oil pastels and then went on to Acrylic Painting? I am 58 years old and started with the oil pastels a few months ago. I don't know if I could ever paint the way you do. It's Wonderful!
all mediums are different and it just takes some practice and learning some different techniques😌 youtube is a great place to learn about all different types of art. dipping your toes into different mediums at any age is blissful. to kinda answer your question i tend to find acrylic painting to be very enjoyable because there’s a wider variety of colors and you can build texture, but be careful because acrylic dries pretty quickly so blending is quicker and more strategic. in my opinion acrylic paint is easier than oil pastels, but if ur thinking of going for oil paint because it looks smoother DO NOT i repeat DO NOT because they’re toxic, if you do not have a properly ventilated studio it could be potentially dangerous, plus the chemicals used to dip the paintbrushes in is highly flammable due to the fact that they’re aqua-phobic. lastly with oil painting you have to paint fat to lean basically you have to layer paint from thin to thick because let’s say you had thick green grass but wanted to paint a soft pink blanket on top it would just mix with the green. i hope this helped and best wishes for you on your art journey😊

Any substitute for acrylic paints? I dont have any and am wondering if there is any way to achieve a close bright vibrant white without them

I followed the tutorial with my own oil pastels, I think mine are not as good a quality as yours, and I didn't have paint, (which wasn't mentioned in the title,) but I do like yours, it came out well. God bless!

How much pressure do you use to blend? My pastels seem like they’re immune to blending
1. A lot of pressure
2. Use paper with rough surface.

Try blending with foam paper. It helps the colors blend beautifully.

Here I am using Sakura Expressionist oil pastels, however I actually highly recommend Mungyo Gallery Artist oil pastels, they are easier to use, blend etc.
