Start of Corn Harvest!! (Close Call with Wagons & Hills)

- The Start of Corn! Been waiting for this day for awhile. The first field we went to is the field we pattern-tiled last fall. It's looked decent all year and very consistent. Ear size was not as big as hoped but it put out a decent yield! We still have about 50 acres left on that farm to harvest, only did 24 acres!
Also had a close call with 2 wagons on the hills. The tractor went into a bad powerhop and I didn't want to stop until I really had to. I just had too much weight behind the tractor. Luckily, nothing was broke on the tractor, and the wagon tongue just needed a few parts. It was pretty stupid on my end to take that much weight up the hill.
Spencer's Channel- / @spencerhilbert
Man is doing irl farming and still keeping up playing farm sim, and keeping both channels flowing, he truly is an insperation. I wish you good luck, Grant
And he got a mobile farmgame 🫡
I honestly forgot about that, but still
@@AVTstevetpx He is a busy man, like you say; an insperation! 🥳

Watching that tractor hop, all I could think of was how many bad things could have happened and how much they’d cost.
Yep thinking the same
Remember that These guys went from video games to real life farming so there still learning
i was wondering if they were gonna twist an axle too lol
Same here
Aaaa❤❤❤❤❤aaaaaaaaaaaaa
Good to have you back, I enjoy the youth getting into farming.
I’m 17 in the city want to get out because of crazy people and start a farm in the country
@@scotth8892 let me know how to help
This is probably my favourite channel but I wish that grant uploaded more often
Super educational love the harvest!! Good luck!!!
It’s great to see you can find quick workarounds for the random problems that present themselves. Farming is like that everyday. No textbook path to follow for success, just hard work and quick clear thinking to keep moving forward to the goal. Your desire to maintain a safe operation will pay huge dividends. Keep up the great job.
As soon as the tractor starts to hop just stop you can brake so much stuff when you do that .
Great video though it's awesome to see you and Spence working together and growing from playing farm Sim to actually buying and building a farm from scratch bravo guys ❤❤❤
Love the videos and also watching you progress!
Your not kidding that it looks like a fire. Our combine started out green and now it is all black.
Long awaited video. I couldn’t wait anymore!
My guy, you are living the dream. I’m so glad I watched your brothers 4020 video or I never would have found yours. I’m trying to figure out how to start farming small scale (while I keep my day job) and build from there. Your an inspiration.
take the duals off the back of the tractor to pull wagons. especially 2 bigger wagons up a hill. doubles the ground psi for traction.
You should make a farming series with you and Spencer’s real life equipment.
He did for a bit
He should continue it though
On our farm, we pull one of those brents with a john deere 6210r. It doesn't struggle with it, but we have a lot of hills here. This one time, we had cows in corn stalks, and we were going to chisel it up before planting with like a 10 ft cultivator type thing. I was in the cab and that thing started power hopping so bad one second I was sitting, and the next I was in the air and my head hit the roof. It's always kind of enlightening to see a machine like that struggle so bad.
Getty UP GOOOOOOOoooo!!!! that was one strange way to get the dust out of the Tractor Grant!!!! glad you and the Tractor survived the Ride! for got to time the Bucking though!
Love your videos grant
That just soo hard on a tractor to jump like that 😂
its good to see your videos back , i enjoy them
Congrats! Glad to see you getting a good yield! I will say an 85 year old gentleman I farm with says if you don't have a chopping corn head run your head just below the ears. You will save on head loss and also residue problems. You will (and should) have to chop stocks before running tillage. Just finished harvest tonight! Good luck
That's a common 60 series problem. Our 9860 has gotten to the point where it loses all response from throttle and corner post. Tech says we have to replace all the boards because they cannot find the culprit.
Great video and awesome yield improvement.

😊😂❤❤❤😊
one day you can harvest all day when you geta bin sit and dryer
its true
Great video hopefully this winter or next year before spring you can buy another big tractor. I’d I also try to see if there’s any older semis and small hopper bottoms and a grain cart. Good luck we’re half done with beans.
like the vids, but kinda questioning after these few years why you are sticking with the two gravity wagons. switching to a older semi with a hopper bottom and a actual grain cart would be more efficient and cause less wear on the 8110
Lol better get an auto if that farms guna run a semi
Ya but think them just starting farming with not a whole lot experience 2 wagons hold more that one 1000 bushel hopper bottom
the 1k hopper bottom would be running outside the field at a faster rate with a 1k auger wagon running the field while also giving that 1k buffer between loads@@flyingsfarmsandtrucking7350
8110 can handle theses wagons. But hee needs more weight and STOP before the hill, 6 to 7th gear, diffs lock ... and patience.
Fun fact (kinda): that black dust is caused by a fungus called tar spot, which is common across the corn belt. It can drastically reduce yield if it starts forming early in the year. It’s detectable by looking for black spots on the corn leaves. It can be treated by a heavy fungicide application early on, and/or during tassel. Hope this helps!
very helpful big dad!!!!!!!
Well that's proof right there that pattern tile works wonders on wet fields, an fields in general, huge improvement grant, thanks for sharing
Great video Grant! Love the details and your over all progress! Thanks to Spencer too!
When it starts to bounce like that idle it down and shift down fast lol
Love watching these videos! Thank you for posting them!
Yo man I found out I I leave so close to you I live right by rose hill and I’ve always wanted to meet you I’ve met you at the farm show thingy in Boone and I hardly got to talk to you before we left and I wanna meet you so bad and I’m wondering if you’ve heard of the Goodman fairy farm but keep up the good work❤
I’ve been waiting for this vid to come out
Loving the channel! Ready for Hilbert Bros farm.
grant said he gonna see that power hop through 😂😂
that isnt dirty you aut to see me after a day of hard work on the farm. realy enjoy your videos .
Wow I wish to run a farm someday it’s good to see you’ve achieved that dream!👍
yeah its soo fun i think you would love it
I sense sarcasm @@felixchilvers6361
If you ever decide to get bins, invest in hopper bottoms! You will not regret it
Hes not big enough for that yet he wouod need a couple of thousand acres to make the simi worth while
I can’t believe I cannot make a snide comment about this farm only having one tractor during the fall. A 4020 is almost cheating.
Owning Land > Equipment
A dirty face means u are working hard , no apology needed. . Love your channel, looks like your choices are paying off. Thank u for sharing
Nice work, glad no body got hert. Great video
Im glad you're back to posting 😄😄😄😄
Who wants grant to bring back “Sunday Funday”!?!? I know I do!!!
Not only real life farming but also game farming wow
Glad to see your tile work is paying off.
Hey grant Spencer’s military truck could he take off the medal scoop of the back and keep the whole thing and make a grain truck is that possible it’s just an idea
Awesome work Grant! Amazing what you've done!
I believe you are lucky to have only broken part of the hitch. Drivetrain of tractor could have been damaged and may still come back to cause you some issues
I make parts for both the seed runner and the wagons at unverferths its awesome to see a guy I've watched for years use them
To adjust your concave to rotor gap get a metric wrench that fits over your corn cob, whatever size metric wrench fits it set your opening one size bigger and for harvest time load down your tires and get a heavy hitch weight bracket for your three-point hitch. That tractor is not quite heavy enough.
Missed u. Good to sèe u back
Back in the 80's and 90's I pulled 1,000 bushel Brent grain trains. They were gravity wagons with a JD 4840 and 4755.😢
great video that was a really spooky time with those carts there great job
Live and learn! Farm hard!
Hi everyone. I wonder if I can offer you a few suggestions after the corn harvest.
- Buy a second-hand corn stalk shredder.
- You have baling equipment. You can bale and sell the excess corn stalks in your field.💰💰💰💰
- Plow your field in autumn. (disk ripper or vertical tillage)
See you in spring.🧿👍
Keep up the good work Grant!
Not many people on social media as good as Grant.
Power hopping will absolutely destroy that tractor
Awesome video Grant!
Glad to see you going good! Keep up the good work and videos!
Awesome videos!!!.... I farm myself as well
Grant when you start hearing the tractor bog down shift down and it will keep momentum and keep you safe
Nice video Grant. Keep up the good work!!!
That black dust comes from something we call Smut
Love watching your videos, also would love to by my own peace of land in south Africa
The wheelhopping Happened. It’s a learning moment! Next time you approach it differentl. I’ve you don’t try you never know. You are doing 👍
Who knew Tractor can bounce on their wheels without breaking. LOL 😂
Congratulations on the good yield!
great Harvest video Grant 💯👍
I love harvest videos but you need to get a grain bin that wold help you get more acres knocked out.
I wonder if using a plastic container vs cardboard container to hold the corn before moisture testing does to the results?
Keep up the hard work... Guess Iowan farmer took this year off since Ben rarely posts videos! :) yes let him know to get on it!
You are sooooo lucky nothing bad happened with those wagons. But now you know. 👍
This is awesome. Love a good 4020
Hell yeah!! Awesome video! Keep up the awesome work 👏 💪
Keep up !
Grant please see this it will solve your combine problem Jane you clean your combine with leaf blower it will throw static electricity and throw error codes use air compressor. With the humidity at the times it gets worse please use air compressor
Hey Grant a little advise if you didn’t know go slower, lower your back tires psi to like 8 lbs and turn off front wheel assist that might help
I’d have that electric glitch looked at before that combine goes up in flames 🔥
Great video
That’s one way to dust off the tractor😊
You should get a dryer and bins
All you gotta do is rock that rotor belt while your trying to push it in gear and itll slide right in
I would love when day just to come to a farm and some teach me how to run a combine
I guess some more front weights and some air out of the tires will stop the power hopping, I think better to run lighter air pressure on the tractor tires but I could be wrong also
When he went to the elevator I was almost expecting to see his money go up like in farm sim
The coating on the wiring is made of soy beans
We had issue with our case combine monitor and it was ignition switch not letting enuf power though for monitor to power up
Nice
Corn harvest is the best
Awesome 👍
Bro I love your vids and I didn’t know you have a irl farm I thought it was just fs
6x6 army truck would be a lot cheaper than a semi and trailer
Just add another bin trailer so you have 3 . Way cheaper that than semi and trailer .
Who else loves These videos?
16:40 I see a future of rodeo bull riding for Grant 😁
Tremendous and captivating
Yeah boys, they built the pyramids without computers so rebuilding a tractor motor is a challenge but can be done. Good luck Spencer
When do you think you and Spencer will ditch the wagons for a truck and hopper bottom trailer?
South of you Tri-state area we are in drought ! Little cool a little bit of moisture enough everyone’s taking a break sorta.
A little advice that tractor can pull a lot more then that but when your going up hill shift down when it starts to bog down like that and give it more throttle
Ya those corner posts are known for messing up on those combines we did the header and engine and rotor one this ywar
i love your vids keep it up
