I don't recognise this game where was the rolling about after being tackled ? Absolutely no diving at all ? And for the life of me there was no kneeling to terrorist organisation before the game what was going on in those days ?
Dalglish was out of this world. Easily up there with the worlds best. Also, names on shirts in 1980?? Football was better then, better balls, better kits, better fans, no play acting,no stupid fucking celebrations, black boots. Supporting football and the Matchdays have declined so much nowadays to the point were you're treated like some camp inmate, being told to sit down, don't swear,no smoking. Football is just as PC as every other walk of life nowadays when then it was a release from the strain of work and school, I'm not advocating or condoning racism or hooliganism in anyway here as tribalism and hooliganism are two different things. Now the greedy bastards at the FA are scratching their weaves saying why has the FA Cup lost its grandeur? Playing semis at Wembley for a start has made a massive dent in its prestige! Too many women who obviously haven't got a clue but have read it's "trendy" to go to football now attend games now and they look at you like you have 5 heads when you get behind the lads or question the refs parentage, sexist? So what it's true!
As for names on shirts, I couldn't agree more; football started going down hill when the old tradition (when just being privileged with a number was enough of a honour) was dispensed. Even without the players having their names on the shirts, we knew who they were because they'd already earned the right to be known to us.
@@james3368 Awh mate, I feel you, and sympathies - but it's still somewhat funny. Especially as it's obviously an error of ignorance and not malice... yeah, that would hurt more. 😂
What I liked about the players in the early days of footy, was they never complained or surrounded the ref. They were hard men who just got on with the game. Some very skillful players, Dalglish was excellent.
Like a Sunday league game there. The British were always far more physical in their game but have always lacked technical skillset. Even a back heel was exotic in those days.
@@pintofkimberley A Euro or a FIFA World Cup isn't a competition without England simply due to the entertainment aspect. The English have always provided the atmosphere that the sterile Germans simply lack.

How better tactical management and squad selection by Greenwood could have helped here...Viv Anderson should have displaced Phil Neal from the right back slot, Francis played on top with Mariner used more effectively but also other changes could have been wrought, players like Regis, Cowans, Statham, Morley, Hoddle, Devonshire and Morley properly integrated into a real team with counter attacking abilities..
Wouldn't it be brilliant if we had the return of the Home Internationals + Rep.Ireland.....fantastic, no holds barred International rather than insipid, pointless, uninteresting friendlies.
Is this one of the first instances of footballers wearing their names on the back of their shirts? It's ubiquitous today of course, but I don't remember ever seeing it as early as 1980.
I echo Eliott , bring back the home internationals and do away with ridiculous friendlies inbetween major tournaments.....wouldn`t have to travel very far either !!!!!! win win
Sad to see recent passing of Ray Clemence and Paul Mariner. Hard to believe this match was forty years ago. Time waits for no man.
Tempus fugit
Absolutely very sad I use to watch these home internationals in the 80s always a joy to see England win at Hampden patk

Kneeling to a terrorist organization? WTF?

It’s a shame Scotland gave up supplying a national team.
Could never understand why the Scots never selected a trained goalkeeper
Ronnie Simpson et David Harvey étaient très bons.
Ce poste n'attire peut être pas.
England v Scotland as always been extra special to me and especially when England beat Scotland at Hamden Park
Yes, thumbs up. Wasn't this also the best ever England strip>
Can't even spell Hampden hahaha
Always great to see England beat them 😁😁😁😁
@@chrisfallon9678 we really hate it when that happens , hurts so much 🏴🏴😩😢

always 12 versus 10 when the Scots had Roughie in goal :)

Agreed. Case in point being at 4:15 - terrible decision to rule that the ball had gone out of play, yet not a word in protest.
Brooking was in a purple patch having just scored the winner in the Cup Final the week before.
That Mariner challenge was worth about 3 pens !🤣🤣
Totally took him out mariner !! PLAY ON .HAHA
David Johnson. Still playing for England 5 years later ..underrated international
For me many good players in England and Scotland.
Like a Sunday league game there. The British were always far more physical in their game but have always lacked technical skillset. Even a back heel was exotic in those days.
Yet English clubs were in a purple patch in European competitions, using British players.

What a beautiful lay off by Mariner and I'm a Scot
you mean Brooking?
So, going from what you're saying, Scots don't understand how to use timestamps?
Bob Paisley used to say of Kenny Dalglish that he brought players into the game that didn't even know they were in the game. Prime example at 5.15.
Very overrated player
Never did much at international level
Good in club football but nowhere near a great

6:18. Definite Scottish penalty…😂🤣🥲😅
WATCHED LIKED. ENJOYED. SUPER CHANNEL. THANK FROM BAKU CITY
Two great kits !!
Coppell took his goal really well
Square goal posts at Hampden still - to match the square wheels that were still the norm in Scotland around this time.
You are the reason why we scots love the sassanach so much,
Were they the ones they stole from Wembley three years before? 😉
Daglish straight Red
Mariner Stonewall Pen
Pure nostalgia ...right down to the kits and those Hampden goalposts....football porn!
VAR would have had a feast on this game - penalties, red cards and so on!
This was the 1st live football match i ever saw
Think Jimmy Greaves was right about Scottish goalkeepers.
Now England have taken over as the worlds worst goal keepers

That's a bit of a stretch to say that's the reason Brooking scored.
Looks more a case of McGrain was ball watching.
Clear cut penalty for Scotland 🏴 when only one down 👇, probably would of been a different result? 🤔
That crowd
Only one forest player in these two team at a time when they won 2 European cups .... appalling.

No
England have enough meaningless Internationals on their schedule already, officially known as 'Qualifiers'. 🙄

Seeing it side by side with 'no names' makes you realise what a bad idea it was/is.

@1.04 I think Rough was right to be concentrating on the match rather than trying to feel a ball. Unfair criticism from the commentator (Barry Davies)
Great england team
Alan rough in goal ....say no more 🤣
Alan was rough you mean 😎
Surely there must have been someone in Scotland other than Rough at least taller?
Och aye, Jocky.......
Clear penalty not given to Scotland. Foul by Mariner
Was at this one....Scorching day... deffo pen for Scotland.. not given 😩
Never mind the red card you should have had for the kung fu attack on Clemence leading up to it, eh. Textbook sweaty
no1wasgeorgiebest blah blah blah blah....😝
David genial
On paper the Scottish side seems a lot stronger
Scotland, names on the back of their shirts...
ostentatious, will never catch on.
Not a very good England side but still good enough to beat the jocks again🏴
Especially as there hasn't been a better Scotland side since this 1980 one. 😁
Dodgy keeper.Dodgy keeper. Hello, hello....
😂😂😂😂😂Poor sweaties lost again!!!
