Already converted a box of wargames atlantic bulldogs using spares from the traitor guard kill team, but very much looking forward to backing these. WA are a great company providing some much-needed competition to GW. Thanks for the paint guide, great as always
These guys fill such a great niche. Useful for any kind of sci-fi baddies, but also for humanities most numerous foe in 40k. I know people love GW minis, and they are great, but if you just like simple figures in great numbers, they are no fun at all because they are way too detailed and unique (and expensive!).
absolutely true. GW have forgotten that the basic troops for horde armies don't need to be amazing models, they need to be affordable, simple but effective designs
They’re fantastic! Can’t wait for them to go on general release. Really great work on these, inspired me to create a whole new colour scheme when I get mine
Mutation parts are apparently one of the stretch goals for the crowdfunding campaign. So if you want them, maybe hop over when it goes live and make a pledge. To help make sure that goal is met.
The "different colors in the same army" idea worked great for Blood Angels and their helmet colors. I also didn't really consider that you could just use them as somewhat beaten up veterans instead of "damned" until you said that. The flat armor plates on the torso, shoulders and forearms would be great for unit markings and decals for a more regimented look.
Surely WGA has just hit the target with these new boxed sets. They would be perfect as Kriegs ' enemies, I just saw on RUclips an animated short where their heretics enemies were pratically identical! P.s., if you want to give them an uniform look, VMC Cavalry Brown would be perfect, it remember Khorne Red without being too flashy.
It only makes sense that wasteland raiders or ad hoc cult militias wouldn't have a set uniform color. They'd wear whatever clothing they could get their hands on. Under muddy wash, they'll all come together in the end.
The moment I saw The Damned were not only getting plastic kits (to replace the older 3d printed versions, which will soon be discontinued), but getting a _full range,_ I fell in love. I was planning on getting WA's "Les Grognards" as my Guard army of choice - some proxy Vostroyan Firstborn - but now I'm sorely tempted to drop a hundred bucks on the crowdfunding campaign for The Damned. Too much watching Darktide playthroughs, I suppose. Made me fall in love with all the Chaos cultists, especially those flavorful elites. The top tier modularity is really what sells them. If all the weapon options they advertise make it into the kit, you can use it to outfit your force with just about everything. Plus, we'll kit plenty of units besides just the infantry. Command, heavy weapons, ogryn, cavalry, artillery, attack dogs, even a TANK if the crowdfunding goes well. We could have a real, honest-to-god plastic replacement for the Leman Russ, at third party prices! No having to spend practically the same amount for resin proxies, or getting into 3d printing. You could just buy them, for cheap!
I love these!!! These are PERFECT for Weird War 1 stuff, not to mention Fallout, Traveller, Stargrave, Gamma World, Shadowrun, etc. I'm on the bandwagon for the 10 set pledge. Thanks for pointing to these!!!
Sweet glad you painted up the cool Cultist minis . Glad Wargames Atlantic did the Chaos guard/ cultist proxies. They would work wonders for Bandits/marauders
These guys are awesome! Generic enough to be used for a variety of purposes (can be cultists/traitor guard, or even come from certain loyal regiments, or be just some post-apoc folk) And still, their somewhat old-school design still has a lot of character.
I've been consistently really surprised with them, picking up one at a time as and when I need to fill a gap in my range and they've all been really nice.
Backed this at the ten box pledge, may increase it to fifteen before the end, won't be using it for warhammer but they're ideal for stargrave etc, excellent painting guide as always!
Different colours within the same force can look awesome! I do that for my 40k bloodaxe orks, no two orks are the same, different coloured armour, different camo patterns, the whole works, heck I even use a big selection of greens and mix and match on an ork by ork basis for the skin tones, takes a while but looks good in the end!
Variety makes sense for large armies, as much as we want to have all uniform armies, variation exists even in real historical militaries, why not have that in our sci fi armies too?
Oh wow - it's so neat you were given prototypes to paint! I thought I wouldn't be interested in this range, but they look like they are a *lot* of fun to paint. And you're right, they're great generic baddies. Absolutely love how the lenses on the gasmasks came out!
Good damned job! Looks like several boxes could make a good army, but a single box built with different heads and painted in different colors could form several opposing units for smaller scale skirmish teams
The colour-coded thing, I did that with my cannon fodder as they just felt like they were begging for it. Blue for basics, red for vets, green for specialists, white for commanders.
I've been REALLY looking forward to these minis. I've always loved the Traitor Guard for 40K, but they haven't really sold many sets, and the sets they do sell are (like most things Warhammer) pricy, especially to field a decent army. But these guys will fit the bill. And Wargames Atlantic's prices are always affordable and their box sets have tons of options, so I'm looking to buy a bunch of these dudes and use them in everything from Warhammer to This Is Not A Test, Stargrave, Space Weirdos and even Zona Alfa as a bunch of raiders.
I did the 5 box bundle today: 2 infantry, 1 command, 1 brutes, and 1 heavy weapons. I'm really excited for the horse riders but that isn't available yet. 9 horse riders for $35, sold!
What kind of connection is there for the head? Flat, rounded neck and indented shoulders? The torso looks perfect for a lot of uses, but those heads aren't of any use to me whatsoever.
Good thing there's a bunch of different heads in the kit, then. 😅 I just liked these ones from the prototypes. They're the same ball-and-socket joint as all the other WGA sci-fi stuff like the Grognards and Bulldogs.
So amazing work! 1. is this the „new“ game colour formula for the umber wash from Vallejo? Or from the „older“ range? 2. I saw a lot of videos with a lot of mixes you take for shading. What are the differences and what likes you the most? Thanks!
BTW: I notice that in some videos you use different washes. Would you suggest this new Umber Wash from Vallejo as opposed to the 50/50 or marine juice mix?
Most of the time it's a 'right tool for the job' kind of answer, so unfortunately there's not an easy way to put it! Umber Wash makes a very good replacement for Agrax without having to thin it, so I've really been enjoying using that. The Marine Juice is a much lighter shade by comparison, so it's not as universally useful, but very good on stuff where you don't want to tint the colours much.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Though didn't want to assume one way or another, that's pretty much what I thought. I'll give it a shot. BTW: Love your videos! Take care!
I'm honestly not sure. The sprues and parts aren't finalized yet; I've just got the prototype bits I was given access to. So... mmmaaaaybe? And also maybe not.
In my opinion, the Wargames Atlantic models don't have the same menacing look of the old Forge World renegade militia. Or the traitor guard form Blackstone fortress. Gas mask heads are, okay. Not a fan of the spiked colander helmets. I believe it as Anvil industries had a similar look with their renegade range? Anyway, other than the heads, I think they look great and this kit has a lot of potential.
The only thing I'm not fond of in the sculpt is the one holding the sword up. How he'd ever bend his arm with that big shoulderpad covering up the crook of his elbow is beyond me. Still, great job!
So I am thinking post apocalyptic any story or game. So generic. Couldn't tell if weapons were sci-fi style so would possibly kit bash 21st century weapons. Now what was that universal soldier movie spin off.... that's the vibe.
Finally! Old School Traitor Guard proxies! And more than a handful per box, running third ed mutant/traitor lists has never been more easy!
Actual multi-part kits, too, rather than the same five guys over and over... 😅
Precisely. I can finally have that LatD army I've always wanted (I could have just 3D printed it but...shhhh).
It's definitely a campaign I'm interested in.
The Lost & The Damned are back, baby!
Exactly! I needed these in 2004.... lol

They'd be awesome for Zona Alpha!

I WILL be copping a box of these guys. I only hope they release some mutants or possesed soldiers too and that's an entire Chaos army right there.
Mutation parts are apparently one of the stretch goals for the crowdfunding campaign. So if you want them, maybe hop over when it goes live and make a pledge. To help make sure that goal is met.

The tank is seriously exciting! Really looking forward to what we might get out of that one.
These look fantastic! Great work!

Love the Sleestak eyes!!! Definitely getting these when they are available!
Pledge opens up Tuesday!
I am so glad you painted these. I wanted to create a gaunts ghost diorama. These will be fantastic as hordes of death racing at the trenches.

They look great. I'm super psyched for these guys. Backed the project moments after it went live. Really looking forward to getting them.
Excellent! Love the miniatures and the premise behind the game.
Love the look of all of your paint jobs. Proud to say I was "trained" by you.

I'm really keen to see the full range of these take off. I think they're gonna fill a pretty big gap for a lot of people!

They 've the great advantage of being in plastic (the boxed sets), so nothing that a cutter & a bit of GS can't resolve.
Ball joint on neck and hole in shoulder just like all our Death Fields range
YES YES YES

Are these guys multi part? I might have a use for their torsos if they're split by the waist and torso like old cadians were
Heads, arms and equipment are separate, but the bodies are single-piece torso and legs together.
