My favorite part was when, after homeboy has made it back with the burgers - following three separate “Is Tamara here?” interactions and homegirl’s run in with the stranger inside the cabin - they see the chicken hanging from the ceiling and homegirl screams, “GO LOCK THE FRONT DOOR!” Are you kidding me?! First off, I would have been gone well before a third (maybe even a second) Tamara interaction could have taken place, but even if I had stayed “to keep the plot moving”, no door in that house would have been unlocked. I was getting dizzy in the theater because I couldn’t stop shaking my head at the utter stupidity.

Did Batman train these killers in the art of stealth? They are far too sneaky. They teleport, they don’t make noise on creaky wooden floors or crunchy leaf covered ground out in the woods. It’s ridiculous
While the movie was a retread, I have to say this was one of the most memorable theater experiences I ever had. The audience cheered whenever the main characters suffered. While that probably wasn’t the actor s or filmmaker’s intention, I can’t recall any film in recent memory where the audience was this into it. There was thunderous applause, hooting and hollering, uproarious laughter, and shouting at the screen. I felt emotionally drained after the experience and wondered if audiences have become too clever or too sadistic.
I was more pissed at how many times the main girl had a chance to call 911 with an actual working cell in the middle of the woods and never used it … till she was in the middle of the woods under leaves and there thought “maybe now I should call 911” but had no signal 🤦🏻♀️😒
Preach... What made me mad is they marketed this as a prequel. "See How the Strangers Became the Strangers", so that's what I walked in with expectation wise just to realize it's the same movie from 2008. Also, for as dumb as the characters are, at least in the original I felt genuine senses of dread because shots of sack head in the background in the house undetected was much more believable. They really ramped the Strangers' skills of being within a couple feet undetected and disappearing without a sound within a couple moments in a creaky house that could be practically blown over with a fart...

It’s unfortunate how Renny Harlin’s career has gone over the past twenty years. In my opinion, he had four solid, enjoyable films he put out in the 90’s. Those being Die Hard 2: Die Harder, Cliffhanger, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Deep Blue Sea. That’s not to say he’s only directed low quality films since Deep Blue Sea. For example, I think 2004’s Mindhunters is pretty decent. However, he’s put out about fifteen movies this century, and from the ones I’ve watched, none of them surpass being a relatively enjoyable way to spend an hour and forty five minutes. I think this shows how certain directors lose their way with where they want to go with their approach to filmmaking when that approach starts to feel a bit outdated.
Pretty much everything Harlin has done since the turn of the century has been bad imo. I remember when he did the abominable Legend of Hercules movie a decade ago and Jeremy Jahns' review of it is still one of his funniest to date.
@@BRIANOCONNOR2003 Deep Blue Sea released in 1999, which means it’s been twenty five years since the last solid Renny Harlin film. However, I kind of like Driven starring Stallone from 2001. That’s why I put twenty years instead of twenty five years.
