- *First Official Collab of the Channel! As usual, Lyrics Below!
"Bella Ciao" Italian for "Goodbye Beautiful" is a song that I've fallen in love with for years but never really been confident enough in my ability to do it justice, to actually, well, make. But with a bit of poking and proding (and the Release of a DLC for a specific game that happened to feature the song), I finally broke down and recorded a translation I made that I felt hit the original meaning and feeling, although I don't know if any translation can really do justice to the original Italian.
Spero che il mio canto italiano sia stato comprensibile!
As for the details on the song it'self, Bella Ciao is older than most people expect as it's so often assumed to be sung by the Anti-fascist Partisans fighting the Germans in '43-45. The song is actually a protest song from the late 1800's hailing from the fieldhands in northern Italy.
* As for the Collab part, Janissa is a close friend of mine who volunteered to sing the female part for this song and make this song much more beautiful! Hopefully she'll be a part of future collabs going forward!
Lyrics:
[Woman]
I woke this morning, to soldiers shouting
O bella, ciao! Bella, ciao!
Bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
I woke this morning, to soldiers shouting
And there I found the invader’s corps.
Oh all you rebels, Oh Take me with you,
O bella, ciao! Bella, ciao!
Bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
Oh all you rebels, Oh Take me with you,
For I fear I’m not safe here.
[Rebel]
But if I die there, as a good old rebel,
O bella, ciao! Bella, ciao!
Bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
And if I die there, Oh as a rebel,
My dear won’t you bury me?
Oh bury me here, on this old mountain,
O bella, ciao! Bella, ciao!
Bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
Oh bury me here, on this old mountain,
In the shade of the flowers pure.
And all will pass by, by that good flower
O bella, ciao! Bella, ciao!
Bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
And all will pass by, by that good flower
And they‘ll only see it’s bloom
«But that’s the flower, of the good rebel»,
O bella, ciao! Bella, ciao!
Bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
But that’s the flower, of the good rebel
Who died for your freedom!
Una mattina mi son svegliato,
O bella, ciao! Bella, ciao!
Bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
Una mattina mi son svegliato
e ho trovato l'invasor. Видеоклипы
Alright, Returning after a 2mo hiatus with hopefully a banger! "Bella Ciao" has been a long-time favorite of mine from a melody perspective and the thing holding be back for so long is making a good English Translation, and my Italian pronunciation. Hopefully both turn out well! This song is also the first *official* collab! Janissa joined on with another friend to help with the backup vocals on "Fish in The Sea" and here she's in the foreground! She sadly doesn't have a channel of her own yet but hopefully we'll be able to convince her to join in on more songs going forward!
As always, I want to thank the Patreons and invite you to join at the link:

Let me guess Italian elections. Got you thinking?
No need to write a whole essay 💀
Great song
I'll be honest, very rarely ill find a song that I listen to on loop over and over again and woah! Your voice is literally angelic. The female voice is very good as well, but yours is so stunning. Its like it hits you in a way a voice shouldn't be able to. You're so incredibly talented and I would be lying if I said I haven't listened to this about 200 times, lol. Once I get my payment methods set up, I'll donate to you here!
I love this version! I’ve sung this in Italian, Spanish, but I’ve never found a good English version until now. I love how this beautiful song was used to defeat the fascists in Italy during WW2. I’ll be sure to sing it at school.
Bella Ciao
One fateful morning
I was awoken
Oh, bella ciao…
That fateful morning
My country’s inflamed
By the swords of invaders
My compatriots
Please take me with you
Oh, bella ciao…
My compatriots
Please take me along
So we could fight another day
And if I should die
As a patriotic
Oh, bella ciao…
And when I had died
Fighting for m’country
Please bury me among my friends
Please bury me there
Top of the mountain
Oh, bella ciao…
Please bury me here
On this old mountain
So I could see my old country
When all the people
Walk by our mountain
Oh, bella ciao…
They’d see a flower
Dancing in the cool winds
Smiling with our new country
This is a flower
Of those patriots
Oh, bella ciao…
This is my flower
To those who had died
For the freedom of our land
Cool cool cool
Thank you for your encouragement. I did take liberty with my "translation". I was inspired by the original folk song. But wanted the new lyrics to reflect today's reality, such as the war in Ukraine
Charming voice of 2 people singing another nation's song just like it's theirs. Keep up the good stuff, you shall prevail.
I think it's more for people who don't speak Italian to understand the depth of the song.
Antifascist rebellion songs are not for one nation. They are for all people of all nations to bolster spirit and drive the will to fight back against fascism. Antifa is not an organization it is a belief system we all should hold. I recommend checking out the Chumbawamba version to get the drive. Perhaps one day there will be an English version with the drive of chumbawamba that is more true to the original lyrically.
@@michaelfeher agreed comrade. I am basque. And was raised latina. We recognize the leviathan imperial beast no matter our heritage. Some are complacent to be " white" American. But our heritage runs deep before Europe was colonized. There is polish, Spanish, Ukrainian, basque, Arab and many translations. But the complacent will not see
This comment was of this person was placed out of privlage away from struggle and entitled, from a place of uneducated territory.
Curious. Does this person understand the roots of this song?
Dude, this is outstanding... I've been really nervous about your absence (watching you since 800 subs) and so glad you're back! Best wishes from RF!
What are you gonna do? Unshoot Mussolini?
Me and my Nonno used to always sing this on late dinners :)
Good memories
This is one of the best covers from you recently
oh god, I got multiple Goosebumps listening haha, I enjoyed this very much, thank you :)
This is amazing.
Love it! And good to know you're still around and the glowies didn't get you.
Very sad song. Beautiful!
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I was actually just recently thinking about this song in English, very cool to see.
Ayy just noticed the HOI IV reference in the description
Nice to have an english translation of the original. As much as I like chumbawamba, the original's got much better lyrics.
❤
dang for all these years its actually a sad song i thought it was jolly because of the italian accent or the pitch
The Bella ciao means goodbye beautiful
This is not against facism, This againat zionism as well, Still valid
Zionism is just fascism, with a liberal blanket to hide under.
CIAO BELLA!
Hearing this on 1.25x makes the song better
Bella ciao it’s my school song
Marcus hopsin has a cover of this too.
Loved this song since I was a child, been listening to the red army cover this song since as long as I can remember, this is just as good.
Until I wasn't English version I was enjoying this song when I listened English version then I have goosebumps
Amazing work!
Was this for the drop of the HOI IV DLC By Blood Alone?
Best version
You should do a cover of “Grândola vila morena” it’s a protest song from the carnation revolution of Portugal!
Is this recorded on vinyl
Bella ciao means goodbye beautiful in Italian
This is really sad 😢 for me
REMEMBER WACO
Sing This For America!
I suggest to make szel viszi messze in English
the story of the song is unclear ..but for sure is' not from 1800 e not Partisan 's song : all 2 versions is after 1953 ( Rise 's working version is after the partisan / patriotic one but the music is more clear : ruclips.net/video/r0KbSFYbTxA/видео.html and here i found this info story about it : ruclips.net/video/2nTi3V-arlo/видео.html
hoi4 moment
you
I prefer the original Italian version which is about joining the partisans (not rebels) and fighting and possibly dying for the red flag of labour. This version sounds more like something some spoilt rebellious teenager might like to listen to.

Okay I really like your music, its really good, but I'm not sure how to take it. Which Side Are You On, Bella Ciao and especially Mother Anarchy, are all very leftist, socialist and workers music. I dont know I feel a very strong southern Confederacy feel to this music, which is as far from socialist and anarchist as you can get. However and this is a big however, I dont know exactly whats going on, something about a second civil war, I dont its all overwhelming, and Im tired its like 2:00 AM. I just wanted to write this down cause it feels weird to hear this music in a southern like version, its not bad, in fact I really like the music, just feels like the history is being lost and meanings being erased. Thats why I would like some context. Thanks.
It's For A Fictional Civil War He Made Calm Down
Taking this version as the song of the 6th Regiment Garibaldi Legion would make the most sense in the context of the Civil War, if you are so inclined to the civil war interperetation.
As a person who would be labeled fascist by many I have a love hate relationship with this song.
what do you mean by that?
nvm just checked ur channel seek help immediately
@@j.roseee I personally don’t feel I need help, what do you mean?
@@netherhobbit you have multiple songs on ur playlists that are full of hateful and supremacist ideology, and yet you claim also to be a christian. pls my friend, read the bible and love ur neighbor as the lord tells you to do. no god-fearing man should call themselves an “aryan” or idolize the murderous tyrant agusto pinochet who killed many pious christians in his greed-filled terror. i only wish for ur salvation and for u to heal.
@@netherhobbitExcellent playlist brother I recognize many of those songs
I find this accent offensive. *shudder*
Its the Bella Ciao part. Just as awful as an american pronouncing the name Dimitri.
Which is just my issue, i know, but it feels wrong not to hear it in an Italian accent.
