About me:
My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician & songwriter.
My channel is these things:
1. A place to share my songs - via various 'Back on Track' video series - in which you'll see each song idea evolve step-by-step, with me (hopefully!) improving my song-writing skills as we go.
2. An outlet for me to discuss all things musical - including technical break-downs of software and tools that I use, as well as more wide-ranging discussions of topics that interest me.
I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase.
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

cant wait to tidy up my media bay
Thanks for the helpful video!
No problem!
Thanks! You really cleared some things up about media bay for me!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the kind feedback!
Hey thank you so much! I'm in the process of installing all the VST and MIDI stuff included with my newly-bought Cubase 12 Pro, and I got a bit frustrated when I realized I couldn't specify my newly bought "separate-dedicated-samples-&-VST-related-SSD" as a destination for all this stuff... then discovered (by pure chance...!) the Library Manager and wanted to be sure and verify that all this VST stuff will be sitting in the right place and will be recognized by Cubase AFTER MOVING IT via the Library Manager... I find it a bit astonishing that we can't choose to install the VST contents to another location (separate SSD) than default-C-drive during initial setup... I will watch your other video about this topic, which you mentioned in this video. Again, thank you very much for clarifying all of this frustratingly cryptic subject!!
You're very welcome, thanks for the feedback! Yes, it's horribly complicated, and desperately in need of a complete overhaul.
@@OneManAndHisSongs Yes "complete overhaul" is the good term...! But thankfully, INSIDE Cubase it seems way way better organized, that's the most important in a way...! BTW I appreciate your "deep-dives" in aspects of Cubase, you're the one that goes the deepest among those I've watched and it's pretty informative AND useful! Thanks again
Thank you so much Anthony! This is very intresting and good to know. I have a very strange problem after my update to Cubase 12 from 10: my MediaBay stopped to show me the new files (wav or midi). I have to update database every time when I copy my new samples to the harddisk... This is very strange bug...
Do you have the "Scan folders only when MediaBay is open" option selected in the MediaBay options window? If so, uncheck it. I can't think of anything else that could be causing that behaviour (my MediaBay does update itself proactively, as should yours)
@@OneManAndHisSongs thanks for your answer Anthony. I fixed the problem, it was strange bug: It helped me to delete the file in the folder you specified where the entire database is stored. so Cubase started to create a new one and the problem with displaying new content was solved.

Fair.
Comprehensive tutorial Sir. But I'm constantly facing a problem. Whenever I start a new project, have to identify my sound console to output connections in 4:10 Cubase 12 whereas for input configuration cubase automatically detects my console. So looking for a permanent solution. Thnx and regards
Sorry, not sure what that could be. Steinberg do have a Support Team, which, whilst slow, will eventually give you an answer. It might be worth raising a ticket with them
Thnx for your prompt response Sir. Do you have a link where I can refer this problem
helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us
@@OneManAndHisSongs Thnx Sir. Definitely shall refer my problem with reference to the link sent. Regards.
Looks like Cubase should employ you!
Thanks, but since I took early retirement from my job as a software engineer earlier this year I've grown to quite like not having to take instructions from anyone :) Bit of a one-way gate for me, that one!
What I do not understand where Cubase fails hugely you have to load kits just to see what they sound like same as halion why it’s backward there must be hundreds of gems which we probably never find or am I missing something
Yeah that would be great - something like Native Instruments' preview feature would do the trick.
