Im native Dutch, living in the Netherlands. I already lost my company in 2008 during the financial crisis. Life has never been the same. The Netherlands is one of the most Woke and expansive countries in the EU. Crime is up, no houses to rent, rent is extremely high, buying a house is nearly impossible, migrants get all the goodies while we work our asses off. This is an extremely sick situation. Our country is falling apart. Europe is breaking. This is a war against the people of Europe by the bankers. Remember that.
    So, Paraguay? America?
I thought about it. But you know what?
I think we should get rid of the EU as soon as possible. It's time to hold the line.all of us. The Treaty of Lisbon was a sign some people have stolen our identities and countries. We should get it back. I'm not going anywhere.

Let alone the level of corruption in the EU governmental structures.
There's little hope people can actually change the situation in a democratic way.

Although Greece has its challenges, I believe Ireland is in an even worse situation. In Dublin, €600 wouldn't even cover a bed in a shared room. Fuel prices are extremely high, and with Ireland's cold, windy, and wet climate for much of the year, heating is essential to prevent dampness. Our city centers and towns are overwhelmed with immigrants, predominantly from Africa, the Middle East, Brazil, and Eastern Europe. Streets are filled with both foreign and Irish homeless people sleeping in doorways, crime rates are rising, and the cities are filthy. Many businesses have shut down and remain boarded up.
Public transport in Ireland is a joke and utterly inadequate. We don’t have a metro system, and none of our airports are connected by rail. Our healthcare system is deteriorating, and food prices have skyrocketed. The government, backing this “woke” agenda, seems more focused on that than addressing real issues. The housing crisis is severe, with a critical shortage of homes, leaving most young couples with little hope of ever owning property.
The government seems completely disconnected from the people, more interested in pleasing their European counterparts than addressing domestic concerns. I regret Ireland being part of the EU and wish we could leave. People need to stop consuming mainstream media, get off their phones, and unite to remove ineffective governments. Europe is being destroyed from within.

Out of those hundreds of billions per year, Romania gets back a tiny percentage named as " EU funds", meaning some % of the money stolen from us by tax evasion. The average rental cost is of 1.000€ as well. Usually you need to pay 3 months in advance, plus an extra one.
If you own a house and the tenant doesn't pay you, the law protects the tenant instead of the owner. If you get your house illegally occupied you cannot evict them. That's part of the reason of how unreasonable the market has become.

Guys I'm from Athens, Greece. I am self-employed and own my business. I work 70-80 hours a week and I'm just surviving even though I might make a bit more than the average the Greek (around 2000 euros). Greeks work more hours than anyone else in Europe, perhaps more than anyone else in the world. I am 40 years old, single and living in my family home, because renting is impossible. The energy and petrol bills are crazy expensive. Keep in mind it is mid-October and I am still using ac because the weather is so warm. Until recently Greece had the highest amount of homeowners in the world but this is quickly changing because people need to find roommates in order to be able to afford rent. One sad fact, this year I was only able to go to the beach one time whereas the norm is at least 20-30 times. Also no vacation for me - haven't stopped working non-stop for the past 6 years. I drive a 20 year old car as well but it is low miles and in perfect working condition. It gets regular preventative maintenance and servicing maybe 2 times a year.

Poland here, my own apartment just utilities and council tax now cost me 1/3 of my salary. A University teacher salary only with MA, not a professor, but still with years of work experience. Prices are skyrocketing while the salary isn't. To survive I need another job and work overtime. Even this basic university contract requires to be available both for week students Monday Friday and weekend students so hard to make time for a second job.
It's to make us all live at a barely survival level.
To the point that my recently divorced friend is considering moving to live with me or other friends to share the cost. It's a tough decision to take, can't imagine losing the privacy but need to be realistic if you're single.

Try living in the United States. I make $1100 per month USD and am on disability. My rent alone is $780 per month. Doesn't leave a lot for anything else. It's all relative to where you are. The United States is out of control with rent and I live in a little town in what is considered one of the poorer counties in my state and it is very, very rural. Even with my wife working, we find it hard just to get by because utilities are out of control. Every time the energy mogul goes to the state public utilities board to ask for hikes in the cost of electricity, they get it without much push back. Add that to the rent and there goes another $180 per month winter and about $130 a month in the summer. We don't go out to eat, don't go clubbing (We are in our 50's), don't go to movies so we have internet as our "entertainment" expense and we have roku t.v.'s so that we don't have to have cable for television. A car payment, renters insurance, car insurace, a couple of small personal loan payments every month and that pretty much shoots what money we have every month. If we budget well, we can afford things like our staples (toilet paper, soap, deodorant, etc.). So it isn't all ducky here in the United States for everyone either, especially with a do nothing, incompetent liberal "Democrat" administration that has been in charge of the nation 12 of the past 16 years.

I'll answer. You are a white man named Brian, so it figures you are a Westerner. And as a Westerner you should not be asking such a d..b question. I'm an American, but that has nothing to do with facts. The fact is that the US was truly a land of opportunity, where ANYONE could make something of themselves. To what degree-that's a different matter, but there is no denying that America really gave an opportunity to people. A malicious plan that's taking place in ALL Western countries, is reaching a climax in America, and the results are in and they are catastrophic. The repercussions will be even more so. This is global. But, to answer your question, why Americans are fleeing if the life is so good is because it is no longer such. Including myself.I have fled. It's a tragedy and anybody that wants to gloat has no heart, let alone the fact that the plan, conducted and set in motion by the " shadow" world government, is coming for EVERYONE. EVERYONE. Anyone who thinks that they are good and safe at a beach bar in Thailand is very dilusionally mistaken. That's the truth, Brian. You take care and be safe out there.

Well the issue would be that Greece's infrastructure outside the 2-3 big cities of the country is hideous and services become unreliable. Hence less jobs. The analogy would be 8 out of 10 jobs in Athens, 1 in Thessaloniki 1 for the rest of Greece. Unlike Britain or Germany for example where rural areas have decent infrastructure and reliable services to support the growth of societies.

Utilities are dirt cheap, the taxes are peanuts, the pensioners are so wealthy they don't need help with heating any more! There there are no queues to get treated at the NHS. And no demograpic problems, as hundreds of thousands of The Dear Commonwealth Family are pouring in every year, bringing their exciting cultures and wonderful food you can smell from a hundred yards away. 😅

Gas prices always rise never fall down, electricity bills are killing Greeks without remorse. Not to mention used cars, they are selling 2004 cars for euro 4000! Just because there is a car cartel and you have no choice but buy the old hip for insane money. There is no real government in Greece just like in the US

I can tell you from firsthand experience, a two-bedroom apartment in Auckland City has always cost at least half of the median salary (which is about 2,400 euros a month after tax) excluding utilities etc. When I tell someone that I'm from New Zealand, they think I'm some kind of crazy person for swapping heaven on Earth with huge salaries for Greece. =) At least property in Greece is more affordable even compare to salary.

The "one size fits all" mentality of the EU was never going to succeed ! Why? Because the cultures throughout are far too diverse for a bureaucratic governmental system is far to moribund to administer it efficiently.

We got highest in EU price for electricity (goes 100% since july), all strategic investments (nuclear power plant, central airplane hub, ports on Baltic sea) are stopped, big investors like intel and others moving out from Poland. Lot of people loosing job becouse of reduction of positions. New government dont respect law and constitution but they now have controlled all media. Its very close to authoritarin. But from EU view everything is now fine... So only Hungary are now normal country.

This is an issue across the West. Salaries aren't keeping up with inflation...
If we look at the nitty gritty it is all a proportional problem across the west. EXAMPLE: While people make less and things cost less in Greece, hence 1,000 euros a month and 500 euros a month on rent. It's the same for Canadians, the average take-home monthly salary is 4,308 CAD but the rent is easily 2,500 - 2,800 a month.

Eurpoe needs to close borders, and start taking care of their people. If they fail to do so a massif anger will break out with extreem right parties getting stronger and stronger. Which are good for nothing. It's not that I'm racist inclined, but see it this way: how many people can you foster in your house intill you get broke? It"s the same idea at a bigger scale. A hugh part of the imigants that come to seek shelter, don't end up working and paying tax like everybody else. They end up being sponsored buy our gouvernments. A quite unfair situation, you pay more a more, earn the same as 10 years ago, and these people get a lot if not everything free.
