I am watching these videos of the Paul Hogan Show and reliving my very late teen and early 20's. OMG! So funny and unappreciated! I saw these programs in the mid 80's on public TV. In Dallas, along with my other British faves. Such a simpler time and less stressful. I want these times back again but, alas, I dont think it will happen.

I got The Best of the Paul Hogan Show and they didn't have any of the SuperDag stuff and maybe one Leo Wanker sketch. They seriously need to release every episode of this show on DVD in a box set. I would buy that fucking thing in a heartbeat. Paul Hogan's show was brilliant.

Thank God l grew up watching shows like this. My Mother tells me l was violently in love with Delvene Delany, And would go bright red and cover my head every time she appeared. 😂

The most memorable sketch in the series. I saw this not long after the same channel (Nine Network) screened Superman The Movie as a major event over two nights. It was fantastic. He also did a parody of The Incredible Hulk. It was called The Incredible Weed and again, it was shown when the series with Bill Bixby was being screened (on rival Seven Network).

Sorry James. Ten Network had the world premiere two part international cut of Superman in February 1982. I believe this Hoges sketch was from 1979.

Kevin Daly I stand corrected. It sounds like something Ten would show at the time plus you know the month and year too. I think showing it like a miniseries added to the epic feel and made it almost as good a seeing it in the theatre.
The scene where a distraught Superman finds a dead Louis and screams out in fury imprinted in my mind.
I'm sure that sketch was from a later season but you are again probably right.
How do you know this stuff?

@@jamesfrench7299 Hi James. I still have my tape from the broadcast, and I put the date and network on the label. Bill Collins presented it. The Hoges sketch was soon after the theatrical release, which was December 1978. Everyone was surprised by the Superman TV cut when all the additional scenes came up. That element wasn't promoted beforehand. I was still in primary school. Yikes.

Kevin Daly I remember it was massive when it was screened.
Australian TV in general was massive back then. The production values certainly reflect 1979 for the sketch.
I would have just started year 3 in Feb of 82 and had an attractive young teacher who was very good at maintaining class discipline. I remember these kids ganged up on me in a separate art class and that teacher was hopeless with authority and the kids ran amok and took nearly all my colour pencils and textas as from my pencil case. After I told my regular teacher that afternoon, it was amazing to watch her gather those kids up and the fear in their eyes as they coughed up my stuff. She had real authority without being mean. She was a heroin.

This was actually my first introduction to Paul Hogan in the US long before the Dundee movies came out. My recollection is they showed it late at night, either on the same channel that used to run Benny Hill reruns or PBS. Can't quite remember.
For some reason, I was compelled to Google Wonder Gran and Super Dag. How I remember either of those...look, I can't explain how my brain works.

Digital Jedi Master must be your sub conscious working mate. All good though when you remember funny stuff like this. It's very much Aussie based humour back in the 70s and 80s.

Super-Gran was more for kids and teens. Super Dag was definitely for adults! Both were hilarious, but very different time slots had me bouncing around trying to make sure that I could view both!
