    I love how that woman’s keeps talking about Easter as if it’s not underpinned by pagan beliefs, even the name Easter is the name a pagan goddess, but then she has the cheek to say the whole of history hangs on Jesus 🤦🏾‍♂️

    • @Domzdream
      @Domzdream 4 года назад +3

      It’s basic ignorance. If she picked up her book and found out where actual Easter comes from and how her beloved religion kidnapped this practice of Easter....
      Actually....
      She’s still be stuck where she is. There are two kinds of religious people. Those that are uneducated, and ignorant.
      Then there are those who have a need to follow whatever or whoever is in that sect, irrespective of it defying all logic or opposing evidence. Those are the ones who are lost causes.

      Literally none of what you said is true. Easter is the 3rd day after the Jewish Passover because Jesus was a Jew who was arrested and killed while in Jerusalem for the Jewish Passover celebration.

      What arrogance... he gave his life for everyone.
      This woman is either ignorant or delusional, probably both.
      Definitely the kind that you cannot reason with.
      She just keeps on spouting crap, even the responding lady is trying to rope her in, but the cuckoo has flown the coup.
      The rest of the audience must be too dumbstruck to even respond.
      Ok, I will concede.
      Your imaginary skydaddy sidekick can be whatever or whoever you want him to be.
      There, happy now. Here's your doll, go play housy, housy.

    People need to read professor Bart D. Ehrman more. Today we know that it's true, there indeed was a guy 2000 years ago preaching some weird stuff and that's all. Andrea Wiliams does a great job to avoid answering the "would Jesus be at the forefront to fight for gay rights?" question... but even better realising that the example she was trying to make was very retrograde and backpedaled...Was she really comparing being gay with the deaf that Jesus magically cured? So was she implying that being gay is a sickness... right?

    Our calendar is measured on Christ, only because it was changed 535 years after his death. In 44BC the month of July was renamed in honour of Julius Caesar the same year that he died. It wasn't until the 8th century that England heard about the new calendar and it took centuries for it to catch on.

      The Rambler
      Well Jesus is part God,God part Jesus according to the Trinity isn't he?
      God sent himself in human form to be sacrificed, so that God didn't have to punish everyone for breaking a rule that God himself made up in the first place.
      Apparently God can't forgive unless be beats himself up first.

    • @crazyprayingmantis5596
      @crazyprayingmantis5596 6 лет назад +6

      The Rambler
      Your analogy is wrong.
      Judges don't make laws.
      and even if they did, the question would be.
      Do judges send their son/selves to be killed so they don't have to punish someone else for breaking a law they made up themselves?
      Remember God himself made the rule that death would be the punishment for sin.
      He then sacrificed his son/self
      to prevent himself from having to carry out the punishment, which he made up himself.
      And people worship this?
      This is the equivalent of thanking your abusive spouse for NOT beating you up.
      Are you really being "saved" when it was God himself that decided what the punishment would be?
      If I decide not to beat you up, I haven't "saved" you from being beaten up.
      So who and what are you being saved from?

    • @fareedali4010
      @fareedali4010 6 лет назад +1

      Crazy prayingmantis God required a sacrifice for sins on a yearly basis through the authority of the Jewish temple by the shedding of a lambs blood. 40 years after Jesus was crucified, the Romans destroyed the temple and the Jews were dispersed throughout the whole world until 1948 when Israel became a nation. Until now, the temple hasn't been rebuilt, and sacrifices are not properly performed according to Jewish law. When Jesus said he was the sacrifice for man's sins, that he was the Lamb of God, and from that time on ( his birth and death) only Gods blood would redeem man from his sins. The three persons of the triune nature of God are essential to bring man to salvation. So God had to be born in the flesh to shed his blood for us...... Think about it, the temple sacrifices were no more just as Jesus came into the world. Coincidence?

      Not even Jews and Muslims believe this, hence the churches anti semitic doctrine down the ages.
      Actually very little written about him in your holy book. Nothing on his boyhood, teenage years , early man hood, description etc.

    Religion uses human empathy to reel people in. Jesus being nailed to the cross is felt as real by followers and that convinces them it is true. I only just saw a movie where a woman stood on a nail and I am still feelling as though it was me. That is what religion does. Story that "survived". They are edited version of myths. God above people, that is the danger of religion when people are second to religion.

      The scientists of Renaissance happened to be christian , and were scientists not because of christianity , those days atheists were persecuted so they had to speak about christianity as being their faith
      There is no science in bible at all. Talking snakes is not science. Eternal damnation, zombie , flat earth, age of universe etc is totally anti science.

      Chris Thompson and your evidence that this is not true is? On the other hand in an analysis of 1,400 articles written on this topic since 1976, both Christian and Atheist scholars overwhelming state that Jesus is one of the most attested to characters in Greco-Roman history..

    • @kokoth
      @kokoth 6 лет назад +1

      No. Julius Cesar, Augustus Cesar, Plato, Aristotle, Alexander the Great, Darius i, Xerxes 1, dozens of Egyptian Pharoahs...these are a tiny fraction of people who's lives were contemporarily infinitely more documented than the supposed Jesus of Nazareth. Since 1976? Lol wtf happened in 1976? You are probably on some crackpot website talking about something that happened then.

    • @shaunlee8425
      @shaunlee8425 6 лет назад

      well let us examine your claims one by one:
      1. Why after 1976.. this is because we are looking at contemporary scholarship on this matter. We don't want to visit crackpot theories (as you do claim) that do not have any solid basis or understanding of the time period. For example, due to the anti-semantic sentiment in the late 19th century all the way to the end of the world wars, Germany theologians were reluctant to acknowledge that Jesus had many Jewish traits. I mean by analogy wouldn't you want the most up to date scientific data and consensus? Or would you rather cite newton instead of Einstein of physics?
      2. Crackpot website, well this number I got from Dr Gary Habermas's (one of the experts on New Testament history from Liberty University). He has cited name and date of the articles he has talked about and include eminent scholars like Bultzman, Thomas Torrance, James Dunn, Richard Swinburne, NT Wright. These are all from prestigious universities like Oxford etc. Perhaps you could explain to me why these great professors are all crackpots?
      3. The individuals you have mentioned. Well perhaps I should elaborate more that we need comprehensive AND reliable biographies of these individuals. Not everything said about the characters can be taken as fact and not everything said on a one line inscription is considered comprehensive. The individuals mentioned have numerically less and far more unreliable sources then the gospels in the following ways: a. Date of the first comprehensive biography is much later for most Greco-Roman persons. The biographies of Julius Caesar we rely on the most by Tacitus and suetonius were more then a hundred years after this death. Sources we rely on to know about Alexander the Great like Plutarch was only written more then 400 years after this death. For Plato, we get most of this information from Diogenes Laërtius who lived 600 years after Plato died. For Darius 1, the most often relied upon document is Histories by Herodotus which was written about a thousand years after. Before that all we have are inscriptions that said they existed or one battle they were in without more. Conversely, the biographies of Jesus were dated 35 years after his death. B. Superior manuscript evidence. Recent indications are that the New Testament is supported by more than 5500 copies and partial copies in Greek and other languages, while most ancient classical Greek and Roman texts have fewer than 10 each. Moreover, there is comparatively little significant variation between these manuscripts, even when they are derived from different textual families. While this extraordinary quantity and quality of the available texts does not tell us if the New Testament writings are historically reliable, most scholars think that the far more manuscripts and portions do indicate that we essentially have what the authors originally wrote. C. Infinitely more documented. Well let us get into the numbers. Other then the manuscript superiority (which already disproves your point) Jesus' life was documented by 4 gospels, 8 Pauline books which most scholars agree were attributed to paul (there are others but i have left them out for brevity sake) and sources like Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny and Syrian writers of the time. The individuals you have mentioned above have no contemporaneous sources and we rely on far less separate documents then those we rely on for Jesus. So how can they be more documented if less documents talk about them, they have less manuscripts documenting their life and the documents talking about them were removed by hundreds of years? Wouldn't they fit more into your narrative of a crackpot talking of something that happened then? Love to hear your alternative sources

      So the quote is a load of nonsense, just like your comment really. There is no reference to jesus owning slaves, maybe he owned hundreds, maybe he raped the female ones, we dont know, so we cant guess unfotunatley we know a lot more about another prophet which is why this video is titled by the BBc as it is. It's funny that the woman brings up the story of Jesus and the adulteress who was about to be stoned. This passage is one of the passages that even conservative Christian scholars recognize as being a later addition. There are other verses that scholars debate as to whether they were added later, but that entire story is widely accepted as an addendum that was tacked on. Hell most English bibles even mention that in the footnotes.
    It's kind of sad that she doesn't even seem to know that.

    Isaiah 53:5, he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. For salvation, people just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in the water and of the spirit. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is. We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD. We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritan. Our salvation has to match-up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, They continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. If you believe in this message, help spread it in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you!

Shall I stop warning the people just because you letting the devil use you to try to stop me? In no way! God's words are amazing and very helpful and persuasive. Thank you!

      Get the Targum Jonathan and read to understand the Hebrew interpretation of that Isaiah passage.
      That passage has no prophetic attachment to Jesus. It’s only the late comers to the Jewish faith (Christians) that are attributing the passage as prophetic understanding of Jesus.
      Also the Isaiah passage only talked about Israel and does not mention or has anything to do about Jesus.
      It’s also widely understood that no Jew believed in a crucified messiah long before the time of Jesus and Jews in history believed that any messiah that would come to liberate and establish the kingdom of Israel would come as a warrior.

    The first woman who quoted the Bible passage about casting the first stone needs to learn that passage isn't in the oldest manuscripts, it's a textual varient that was inserted centuries later.
    Yet people still want to use that story as if it's historical fact, no doubt churches still use it today and they either don't know that it isn't in the oldest manuscripts or the do know but they don't care and don't want the congregation to know.
    She has no idea.
    There's a pretty strong case that Jesus as described in the patchwork quilt of a Bible may not have existed as an earthly human being at all.

      Lightman116
      Josephus is pretty much widely recognized as a fraud, anyone who has looked into the historicity of Christianity or the Bible for more than 5mins knows that so I'm surprised you even mentioned it.
      I think Hitchens didn't have a problem with believing he existed because he wasn't interested in arguing over whether he did or didn't because ultimately it doesn't matter, all that matters is if he was divine or not and that is something Christians will almost certainly never be able to prove.
      Historians will never be able to prove the resurrection story because historians can only say what "most likely" happened in the past, since the resurrection is considered a miracle, miracles are the "least likely" possible explanation of what might have happened.
      I myself have no problem granting that a Jesus existed, but which one?
      If you study the Bible carefully the character of Jesus changes so much it's as if they're talking about 4 or 5 different people.
      There's a few books published that go into more detail about the evolution of the character of Jesus I can't remember their names off the top of my head, Robert Price might be the author of one.
      Google is your friend, check them out. Also check out Richard Carrier's work.

    • @shaunlee8425
      @shaunlee8425 6 лет назад

      Crazy prayingmantis the problem is your strong case is TBH not that strong at all.. I have read richard carrier's work and there are quite a few elementary mistakes he makes which make his position weak... including but not limited to:
      1. His complete dismissal of the gospels as historical or relevant;
      2. His failure to address the evidence of James
      3. His view on Paul's theology of the resurrection being a two body resurrection is not supported by texts he relies on
      4. He doesn't even seem to understand history of resurrections before christ narrative
      Not to mention that this theory is very much a fringe theory in historical Jesus scholarship and not widely accepted at all (burridge & gould (2004) at p 34, van voorst at p 658 and 660, Bart Ehrman etc) for many substantive reasons which would require a longer exposition.
      So nope carrier's argument is not accepted as strong in academic circles

    Jesus would've been like any other jew in his time, militant and a zealot, trying to violently oppose the roman occupation. It would've been an anathema in their religion to have an alien presence, culture or peoples other then themselves in their midst. After all this was their and their God's holy land. They were God's holy people to be kept separate and inviolate from other peoples. And therefore no room for outsiders. 'The loving your neighbour as yourself and turning the other cheek' was addressed to a close knit community whom he saw as his family. Judaism is a land based religion. No heaven and hell, just the land or the real estate which was their religion and God the estate agent, handing over the land to them. Yahweh was very tribalistic and warlike with fire breathing nostrils, especially against other tribes and their gods, his brothers in the divine family. The Elohim. They were not to worship them, for he was a jealous god. They were to worship only him. This was stipulated in a contract, the covenant they agreed to. He went by the titles of the 'Divine Warrior' and the 'Man O War' at the Head of his Army. And when a tribe won, it mean't that their god defeated the other tribe's god. Jesus militancy would hardly show up if at all in the gospels unless reading between the lines because they would've been whitewashed by the roman authorities in order for them and their ruling to be seen in a better light for future generations to come.

      George chabeli well since you asked for solid evidence I shall oblige, but perhaps you too should have some solid evidence to back up your position
      The survey of academic work on this subject from 1975 was done by Dr Gary Habermas who surveyed ALL THE WORKS from eminent professors from major universities. This included both atheist and Christian scholars. Let us name some Bart Ehrman, Bultzmann, richard carrier, Robin Fox. Let us be even more specific then For example, German works of approximately the last 30 years include Hans Conzelmann,Willi Marxsen,Gerd Lüdemann,Ingo Broer,and the early Rudolf Pesch.But they also encompass more numerous works by Wolfhart Pannenberg,Jürgen Moltmann,Martin Hegel,Jacob Kremer,Walter Künneth,and Ulrich Wilckens. Examples of the French writings would be the works of Francis Durrwell,Xavier Leon-Dufour,and Jean-Marie Guillaume.
      How many more do you need me to name before I have "solid evidence"?

    Any particular reason why God sent himself down to Earth as his own son to save Man from his sins when he, God himself had already drowned every man, woman and child on the planet?
    Why was God daft enough to create a Universe of which 99.999999999999% will never be known by Man?
    You have to love religion, the daftest subject ever created. By the way, what is the definition of religion?

      “I think that anybody who advocates infinite punishment or infinite rewards for finite crimes and deeds is morally inferior. I think that anybody who is supposedly omniscient and omnipotent and omnibenevolent who creates a system knowing that people are not going to be able to live up to its standards, spends an eternity punishing them … and the only loophole that the creator of all the laws of the universe can come up with - why didn’t he just forgive everybody or change the laws? - but instead he has to create a loophole where he comes down bodily and sacrifices himself to himself to act as a loophole for a rule that he created. It’s absurd. It is laughably absurd. And it’s immoral.”
      - Matt Dillahunty he nail it

    You can love your child but don't have to condone their actions it's that simple. We are children of GOD, but just because we are his children doesn't mean he has to agree with everything that we do.

    it means he will be same side in today's world
    he is always just saying who he is

    That bit where the woman said Jesus stopped someone from being stoned to death is totally wrong. The story only appears in John's Gospel (a Gospel as far removed from the historical Jesus as it is possible to get). Studies have shown the story has been inserted later. Jesus said, "You change NOTHING in the Laws of Moses and the prophets." "He who changes the smallest of the Laws will be least in heaven." "You change not a jot or a tittle of the Laws." "Do NOT think I have come to change the Laws..I have not. Rather I have come to fulfill them." Horrible little man with his evil laws. Stoning children to death for drinking too much. Forcing women to marry their rapists. Stoning to death people who work on the Sabbath (which to a Jew would be a Saturday). Stoning to death girls who are not virgins when they marry. Incidentally there is a good video on RUclips about John's Gospel called "Biggest Lie - The 4th Gospel."

    Jesus is God in human flesh. Jesus gave the Law of Moses that teaches that Homosexuality is sin. Jesus didn't come to condemn but to save, for we have all sinned in some way and therefore we all need to repent on sin and call on Jesus for forgiveness and salvation. To give our lives to Jesus is to receive life now and eternal life. To refuse to repent is to stay dead in your sins and to fall into hell, to face judgment, and to be cast into the eternal lake of fire. God loves us enough to come and save us. Look at the cruel cross.

      Check your sources, he is a myth. You are repeating stories that non witnesses said about their religion. Paul had a non earth jesus and the gospels are late and non sources.

    i would say that Jesus if he existed then and now would have around 12 follows, i doubt any more than that would take any notice of his ramblings, nope no one would believe he was the son of god but if he was i hope he has made friends with his brother Lucifer, i do hate it when brothers fall out, have they the same mother i wonder, that would be weird,

    I was a hardcore atheist. My buddhist friend had an OBE and met Jesus, then became christian. My 2 other friends met Jesus during NDE/OBE. I researched and hundreds, globally, met jesus during NDE, regardless of beliefs, atheists, muslims etc. Then I prayed to Jesus, he took away my addictions, & healed my sister instantly. Jesus is the only way. No other way. Seek Jesus, your creator. He loves you to death. Only he can save you from the eternal hell torture.
