David Kushner from Velvet Revolver speaks about the wave of hopelessness that comes over one when stuck in the cycle of addiction and not knowing how to get out of it. In this video interview MusiCares®, David speaks of seeing people try to get sober and not make it. Their rock bottom equaled death. When he hit rock bottom he could not imagine living the rest of his life with the hopelessness nor could he image not drinking the rest of his life.

I was just referring to Slash being sober, if that is the case. I assumed he was.

When he talks about dead friends hanged on apartments i think he was talking about Hideto Matsumoto or "Hide" a J-Rock truly legend. He passed away on 1998 when he was working with Hide on Zilch.
