- In this brand new Scratch tutorial, I show how to make a doodle jump game called Dungeon Jump. In this game, you hop over spikes and onto different platforms while collecting coins.

I paused it at 3 minutes and spend about and hour copying all of your sprites and pasting them to my project when I realised it had a red background for some reason. I then spent another hour on the sprites and now I can finally start.

I remember that I did a game like this when I was like 12 or something, it didn't turn out great but it's still on my mind since I worked on it for like 2 or 3 months which by the time I did that game it was a lot for me

I don't know if you will reply but Im doing this as and when I did the platform part it like... after like playing the game for a few seconds it starts doing the same platform over and over again and I have no idea how to fix it..

Instead of having two costumes for left and right, you can use the (rotation style: left right) block. One less costume to draw!

The reason I didn't do that is because it won't allow you to tilt the player when moving. Good thinking tho! :D

For some reason in the "abs of y - yposition < 0.01" part of the video when i tested it the platforms below me immediately disappeared but when i fell they reappeared??

hey in the minute 5.34 if i press a it give me a -1 and if i press the d it give me +1,can you please tell me what i did wrong?
Just swap the order of the a / d! (It should be D - A)
I tested my game, and when the green flag is clicked, only 2 platforms spawn instead of the unlimited number that is supposed to. Is there a reason for this?
It's most likely from an error in your code!

Wait, do you do a ~(variable) for this sprite only variables and a .(variable) for all sprites variables?
Yup! I've switched to using Pascal case for "for all sprite" and Camel case with a "_" as the first character for "for this sprite only". I think it's way cleaner.

The cloning on the platforms work, but it doesn’t spread out. They all float to the top and the player falls.

Hi, I found a glitch; you can still see the platform generating, for a millisecond you see the platform in the middle of the screen, I can't seem to get rid of it...
Hey, try hiding the platform clone, positioning it and waiting 0 seconds, then showing it. That sometimes can fix it! :D

I have a question (more like a confused statement), at 5:34, you say when the d key is pressed, it goes to -1, and when a pressed you get 1. It's vice versa when I do it. was this a mistake or am I just missing something?
Just double check that u’ve got them the right way round - you are probably doing (a key pressed) - (d key pressed), whereas you should do (d key pressed) - (a key pressed)
Oh, never mind; Owen just says it wrong - it is meant to be that d key pressed = 1, and a key pressed = -1. I use this trick a lot in my games

when i click on the sprites they arent showing up its blank but they show when i go to costumes do you know how to fix?

In the background I cant see the purple bricks. I copied the code exact same but it is showing the backdrop not the backround. What can I do???

Method 1 (8 Steps)
1- Search : Dungeon Jump
2- Go to his\her project
3- Click : See Inside
4- Drag most\all the script
5- Return to scratch main page
6- Go and put the script and sprites
7- Modify the costumes
8- Enjoy !
*Note* : You should mention ShiftClickLearn
Method 2 - (4 Steps)
1- Repeat step 1 and 2
2- Click : Remix
3- Modify the costumes
4- Also enjoy !
*Note* : Your project will count as a remix means that it says that "(your name) thanks ShiftClickLearn for the project Dungeon Jump"

it's not working 4 me :( when I press play all the clones clump up in the exact same spot and the character does not jump :(

how do I save coins and skins?
Some of my platforms are overlapping each other and basically not having the same "Y" space between each other, how do I fix that?

bro the camera damping is not working :( and at the start of the game it is empty and i manuily shold make the platforms show :(
This was good but I could not get the gravity to work. It set my variables to Infinite
my sprite is only moving in one direction and then stopped. I did as you did ow is it possible?

so i backpacked your game code, and put it my game, and it works, but now there's a weird flickering platform that shows up every once in a while :O

You put (abs of (y - y position)) instead of (abs of (y - y position))
