@@michiganaquatics2394 tnx! I wanna see that fella again! My jag is growing fast now.. Bought them 2 months ago he already putted 2 inch in size almost.. I think it's a male to (hope so)
What a beast! I hope when I get one (which will be soon) it will turn out this amazing! Any input on what I should look for when purchasing one? Or do do they all look pretty similar when they are younger? Thanks!
He's beautiful. I had one of these guys, I adopted him as a full sized older adult. His owners were rehoming him because he recently degloved the man's finger while he was cleaning his tank. Like, had the whole finger in his mouth, was latched on at the base of the finger, and took the skin with him when he was pulled off. They had little kids and were worried one of them might try and mess with him. He was crazy aggressive, and would shake his head from side to side when I came near. Cleaning his tank was always an adventure. He would hunker down in the corner, watching, then he'd rush me and strike. He once snatched a rubber dishwashing type glove off my hand, scared the crap out of me. As a treat, I'd buy him a couple of goldfish, watching him hunt them was great. He'd chomp them and suddenly a big cloud of orange scales would come out of his gills. I agree that they're definitely the smartest fish, and they have so much character. I look forward to seeing more El Diablo videos in the future :)
A Dovii let alone a managuensis (jag) is not stripping nobodies finger. I breed cichlids for a university (captive breed and release of endangered species) and can tell you whoever told you that is full of shit. This moron making this video has him in a tiny tank. Don’t follow this clown. That tank looks like a 75gallon. A male jag needs a 180 (they get up to nearly 2ft )
He is a honduran jag, they are different than others. And by 10 inches males still have the lateral blotches and when aggressive he changes colors, i will show you his normal colors on fb
Michigan Aquatic's Cool bro thanks a lot for the education. Just because mine lost them early and don’t get them back I thought all did thanks again for point out it’s a different type. yeh I’d love to see yours without them now I see him with them Thanks for being peaceful I was coming from a good place. One love one world
@@thirstyrabbittanks2u191 no problem dude! It will take a while for him to loose them.... Sadly 😭 its more the belly pattern on jags that determans sex, his does look female untill he isnt attacking. I will have to do a vid on it
Michigan Aquatic's wow😂 them jags sure are aggressive, I’m actually getting a 150 gallon for my Oscar, Jack Dempsey, and Green Terror and was thinking about adding a jag, do you think it would work because they seem like great fish.
@@eog5217 it might work but you also might loose everything, it depends on the quility of the jag the gender and where it came from, mine is a gold honduran jaguar cichlid wild caught from an area near rio in CA he is a high quality jag, a more standard male jag thats been bred im captivity for a long time will be much different, female jags are typicly less aggressive but not by much. If you do get one keep an eye on the JD and the oscar the most GTs can hold there own a little better against jags
Michigan Aquatic's that’s sick man 👍I was wondering if I were to house a decent sized flowerhorn in a 20 gallon tank for a couple months with no other fishdo you think he would be ok until he is moved to the 150?
My jaguar cichlid looked exactly like yours, and I'm in Australia. The people I bought him from didn't even know what he was, and it took me heaps of research to figure out his species - this was back in the early days of the internet (I'm old 😂), and there wasn't nearly as much readily available info back then. I had managed a pet store for years, but we had never stocked these guys, the biggest fish we sold were Oscars, so the jag was a whole new world of big aggressive cichlids.
You do have a beautiful jag! I own 2 jags and 3 dovii I'm not sure if uv owed a dovii at all but theres a reason why they call it a rainbow bass! My dovii has more color They both are awesome tho! The dovii defenatly has more power to And my dovii was just as cheap as the jag except my red dovii it was a little more expensive.
Well Oscar's arnt very aggressive cichlids period so you cant do much to help with that, maybe buy some guppies and feed them to it but that's about it and to make it jump for food you just got to work with the fish. Put 1 pellet in your hand and put it under the water and let the oscar eat the pellet from in between your first finger and thumb and then after that hold your hand an inch out of the water he should go for it
Michigan Aquatic's lol jags are like the little cousins to dovii bro I just ordered a male Costa Rican blue dovii and I bet he gets way bigger then your jag none the less your jag is beautiful I’m in Michigan also
Whats up fishfam? Uploads coming back soon!! Goin through some stuff right now but i will get back to it ASAP #FISHON!!!!

Diablo has turned out amazing. Don't get people's up. Most don't turn out this nice. This jag is one of the best looking ones I've seen.

Just followed bro nice vid
Thanks E!
Agree in a way as mine is beautiful but I still can’t pick a favourite out of all mine
I think that’s a female as it as 7 dots males have 5 dots then lose them by this big so you got a female bro
He is a honduran jag, they are different than others. And by 10 inches males still have the lateral blotches and when aggressive he changes colors, i will show you his normal colors on fb
Basicly he looses all of his blotches when acting normal and arr replaced with spots. Sexed male two

How much times a day do you feed your jag?
Once a day

Sorry for another question but do you know why one of my three oscars is gasping and others are fine and it’s the male that is gasping
There are many reasons that could cause it, send me a video of it on insta my insta is my youtube, i think its in the description aswell
