Hello Ray
Im a huge Bob Ross fan
Thank you for the highest complement=)
Just terrific work.
Thanks Dan!
Nice timing mike. Just got back from work and opened a beer.
Same here, even though it's only 11am. I'm in CA, but "5oclock somewhere"
Cheers guys!
With the wiper fluid nozzles have the small lip. You can do a wrap dental floss or similar string and wrap around the lip and pull it like windshield installation to get them to seat in.
Hi Robert
Great tip! Thanks for sharing=)
Looking great and authentic wherever possible👍. I noticed that classic Bosch battery!
Thanks Tom
Hows things going over there?
Good job mike
Thanks Troels
Love it, Mike! Each video you're putting more and more jewelry on the car. I hope this is kind of the fun part for you. It certainly isn't the dirty part :)
Thanks Huybrecht
Its definitely more fun than the dirty work!
Thanks Mike, looks great!
Thanks for the video, it made my day!
Hello Marc
Im glad to have made your day=)
Excellent Mike! Funny I always thought that red rubber wiper assembly mount was some kind of thick cardboard! I think they all just go brittle over time.
Hi Gary
Yes I think that piece is a much over looked part..its way under the dash and only serviceable if the top dash board is removed
@@MikesRestorations I won't be replacing it then :).
After a sojourn, I'm finally back working on my '69. Your video series is the best. Question, I've gone through all your videos and they've helped me immensely, but did you do a piece on the fender gas cover flap? Especially on the cable release set-up? Am at a loss in finding all the parts, especially the compression spring and the connection piece to the release lever, to finalize this. The only thing I've found is for the right rear fender oil filler mount but the parts don't match. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello Jerry
Yes that's an excellent question. I actually do not have video on the gas cap latch. Degree of difficulty is a 10 to get it installed and working properly with the fender mounted. If the fender is not mounted it will go much smoother.
If my memory serves me it requires the latch and spring underneath. That spring is critical to making it function properly. You will need the correct spring. If you don't have these parts I recommend calling Einmalig as I'm sure they can set you up with everything you need. The difficult part is hold it in place while you secure the retaining pin. You almost need to be an Octopus to do this.. It is doable though but very tedious .
Good luck!
@@MikesRestorations Mike, thanks for your quick reply and I have reached out to Brian at Einmalig hoping that he can find the spring and end attachment. Keep up your great work - you're getting closer too!!
As usual Mike; great video. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks Brett
Good to hear from you!
@@MikesRestorations
I am watching all of the videos; I just don't always have the time to comment. My new job is quite busy.
Some right angle connectors might get you a little more clearance on the washer pump. Or any place else for that matter. Might keep a bend in the wire from rubbing. More please!
Hi Gregg
Great tip thanks!
👍
Hi Mike, you say that the hole wiper module come in almost one piece. My wiper came loose a very rainy day. Yes, I was surprised by the rain, the forecast said sunny all day. I never ever drive a rainy day otherwise.
Anyway - when the wipers came loose, the splines on the axle were a bit damaged. I managed to glue and tighten the bolts enough to hold. But is there anyway of replacing that particular part, i.e. the axle with splines that connects to the wipers?
Kind regards,
Fredrik Klass in Sweden
Hello Fredrik
Im not familiar with any replacement shafts or splines for these units.
If my memory serves me...but been awhile, I think it is a tapered fit with nut to jamb the wiper onto the shaft.
The splines are slight and purpose is for placement one notch at a time up or down. When the nut is tight enough that should hold the wiper in place under working conditions. I don't think the splines which are very faint would be able to hold the wiper in position under working conditions..
I think your unit is okay and perhaps the nut had come loose.. It is possible too to over tighten the nut and strip the threads which could be another issue..In that case it would not be possible to tighten the nut enough to hold the arm in place under working conditions
Excellent series.... Do you have ETA on engine piece of the restoration?
Hello Mathew
At the moment no ETA on the engine..main focus id to complete the shell
100% and then dive into the engine and transmission..My guess is I will be starting those beginning of the new year?? A lot will depend on work and how much time I can devote to her
