I think your placement is where you want them for your boat. If lower you would get drag interference with the water at speed. Perhaps someone with just a narrow little fishing boat that doesn't care about water drag may place them a bit lower? I think it's an individual boat need and preference. Thanks for sharing. Glad your enjoying your boat and the water!
Awesome job mate!!! How did U determine the height... By observing the chine wave at certain speeds?? Could C the grin on ur face... Nuthin better then making a boat better then it was designed 😜
Hi, I was looking for something like this to add to my 12ft parkercraft! The kapten boat collars are a bit expensive and an additional $1000 to ship to Auckland. Do you mind sharing the 3d print files for mounting? Thanks Eben
Fair comment. I wouldn't want to be putting random holes in my boat, either. So here are some more details which may or may not answer your concerns. Below the water line under the sealed deck, there is over 400ltrs of trapped air. This hasn't been compromised. Because when you open the bottom bung, compressed dry air gushes out with a hiss. Above the waterline, 2 scuppers can cause any water to self drain when the boat is underway. Suffice to say, the bolts which hold the foam fenders to the hull are well above the waterline and haven't shown any sign of water ingress so far, and so they shouldn't. Having the fenders above the waterline means I can still take advantage of the benefits a narrower long boat offers. My goal was for the fenders to sit on the chine wave when underway. It works, and the difference they make is very, very noticeable. Night and day, a far more stable ride. I have made a few more additions which I can't wait to try.

This is where i got mine. They were clearing out scraps specifically for marine use

I take my hat off to you for trying something new, are you still happy with them?
Hey, question. Where should the foam sit in relation to the waterline? I'm also getting a whale tail fitted on the 50hp
Excellent job.

way to high.
Pro Tip: Next time, make the forward ends pointy.
What are you using for the weather...? The stay safe screenshot? What was that?
